Chapter 8: Chapter 8: A guide to attempting to rescue friends (Leon)
"Uh, where are they going?" Leon wondered as he saw Valor and Eunice rush in.
"I mean that explosion was hopefully a mistake and not one of the captives…" Davis says as he got up to see the aftermath."
"ESPERALDA!!!!" Axel brushed past Leon and ran after the two.
"Will he be okay? I think the other two can fend for themselves but I haven't known him for long." Leon asked Davis skeptically.
"Usually I would be confident to say yes, but I doubt he could take that many raiders."
"Well then we better release the hostages quickly while those three distract them. Leon and Davis walked in silently as they heard the clashing of blades. "Come on, the fighting is to the right so we should go left."
Davis followed behind Leon. "Hey Leon do you think we will be able to find the captives."
"Hopefully Jay is our only mage and Daisy is our healer but they are adventurers. The others I'm not so sure about." Suddenly Leon heard a noise from around the corner. He put his hand over his lips and signaled to Davis who ran forward.
One of the raiders popped out of nowhere and attempted to follow Davis down the tunnel. Leon ran after him and stabbed him with his dagger. He called his two wolves out to scout ahead and when they confirmed the coast was clear continued down the underground corridor.
The two finally entered a large room. Blankets covered the bottoms of a bunch of cages, and Davis uncovered one. Underneath were two bodies of young children with expressions of induced horror.
"Yikes" Leon looked towards the bodies in disgust. He heard Davis audibly gag, but stopped himself.
Leon took the blankets off a couple of other cages to find more bodies of nearby villagers. Finally there was a cage without a dead body, inside was a young girl Leon didn't know but Davis shouted out.
"Esperalda!!!!" Davis exclaimed. She broke down after seeing him so he stayed behind to comfort her while Leon looked through more cages there were a few more captives that the raiders were probably looking to sell as slaves since many of them were capable looking captives as well.
Finally he looked upon the last covered cage but Jay and Daisy weren't there. He released all the captives anyway and called Davis over. "My friends aren't here. I am going to look for them so please stay and help them escape from the way we came."
"Oh I think I know who you are talking about. We heard a couple of people escaping before.
Another captive mentioned, "They tried to help us, but a couple of guards came down and locked up most of those who got broken out."
"Can you tell me which way they went?"
"Uhh. I heard them running that way," he said, pointing to a hallway on the other side of the entrance. "Not sure if this is helpful since it's been quite some time since they've left though."
Leon went to the area of where the man had pointed and went to look for traces of where the others went.
