Chapter 6: Chapter 6: Napping [Jay]

Jay started to set up camp as the others woke up from inside the caravan.

"Hey could someone grab some meat"

"Ok, what type?"

"What.. no.. I can cook." Eunice says as she proceeded to go to the campfire.

"Everyone gather around the campfire. Let's sing a song!"

"No!" The rest screamed.

"Anyways, Grab the fish."

"Jay get away from the fire, you burned the fish so bad yesterday," Eunice sat preparing the fish.

"What, it was edible, right guys,"

"No," Leon says instantly

"Don't feel too bad about it. I wouldn't be able to do better if I tried." Valor encouraged.

"Watch I'll do better this time." As Jay approached the campfire again, Leon stepped forward and blocked his path.

"No," Leon said, "I actually want to eat something."

"Well I mean you ate the fish last time."

"Real food,"

"Fine…"

The group ate in peace as night came. Valor, Leon, and Eunice slept in the caravan, while Jay and Daisy slept on the outside. The night went on, but soon Jay had felt legs being tied and someone attempting to take his books by his side. He jolted up, attempting to scream, but was covered by a cold hand.

He was thrown to the back of another caravan. He then heard Eunice scream as Daisy also got thrown onto the caravan. The scream soon died down, but the clashing of blades could still be heard as the caravan began moving.

Unable to do anything he waited. Soon as early morning came and the caravan stopped. The two were lifted out of the back. He was thrown onto the floor and got carried over to a small prison where he was locked up. Daisy was in the cell on the other side of him.  He spit out the gag in his mouth.

"Daisy, are you okay?"

"I'm fine, what about you."

"A bit bruised up, but for the most part I'm good."

She began to say something under her breath, so Jay decided to ask, "What are you doing."

"Shush."

"She's probably praying," Jay thought to himself as he tried to get his hands free without success. He heard a sigh from Daisy. "No luck?"

"No…"

"I don't get it."

"What?"

"Why do you believe in gods who don't help in any way?"

"Wait for it, eventually Demeter will help out somehow."

"Well, maybe your god can save us."

"Hey, I'm glad you two are doing better now, but the guards are going to sock you in the face if you keep talking so loud," another voice calls out.

"OH.. there's more prisoners," Daisy called out.

"Unfortunately, yes."

"How many," Jay asks

"Roughly 6 including myself, they're sleeping at the moment, but are still chained up. Although, I've heard some voices below us, not sure if there's more down there."

"What's with these chains? I.. can't cast any magic," Jay then quickly thought to himself, "Hold up… I can still cast magic… right." With his hands tied up behind him, he tried to cast a small ice spell onto the chains that bind him. Somehow it worked, but a couple of guards had come into the prison.

The guard came down and started to open up Daisy's cage and began taunting her. "Well look what we have here." Daisy started to back up a bit, seemingly creeped out by the man's approach. "Daisy Bloom, we could auction you off…" He then lifted her head up to face him, "...after having some fun with you of course."

Right as he said that she ran into him, shoving him into Jay's cell bars. He then quickly broke his chains on a rock nearby and casted [Fire Bolt].

"You can use magic!?" Daisy says.

"Doesn't matter right now, open this cell!"

She fumbled through the unconscious thieves keys and eventually opened Jay's door. He then got out and also tried to open the other cells getting the other prisoners out as well.

"Hey James! You done playing with the captives yet?" A man from the other room shouted.

"We have to get out of here!" the man from before says as he runs to the door on the other side of where they heard voices. They entered the door and ran down the stairs. "Wait, is there an exit this way?"

"No but there could possibly be more prisoners," the man said.

"Shouldn't we focus on ourselves? You guys still need to break your chains and grab some weapon."

"We need to save as many people as we can first."

They ran down to see monsters stuck in cages and leashed almost like pets. Animals from rabid wolves to giant slime. A few terrified civilians were stuck nearby and also chained.

Jay broke the others chains using the spell [Chill], while they attempted to open the lock with the keys. A few of the guards ran down and without an exit in sight Jay yelled, "Scatter!" as the other captives also split up, hoping the others got anything to defend themselves with.
