Chapter 20: The Families

Lilith wrapped her manicured hands around the wheels of her cherry-red Porsche; she looked at her reflection on the rearview mirror. The skin around her mouth was stained with blood, but that wasn't the only thing drenched in someone's blood. Her silk mini dress was also soaked with it, and a satisfied smile spread on her lips as she drove back to the Villa. Those Fraternity boys were delicious, she recalled. The ecstasy of feeding off live humans was something else entirely. Sucking them dry to the very last drop was the best thrill of them all.

And young men and women's blood was the best, 18 was a perfect age, sweet as honey as it flowed down her throat. Like a perfectly ripe fruit picked on the right time.

The redhead licked her blood-stained lips, not caring who saw as she slowly came to a stop in front of the Villa's front door.

She strutted in the hallway, throwing her car keys to the servant who greeted her good morning.

Lilith smiled, amused to realize it was already morning. Perhaps she had too much fun, but is there really such a thing as too much fun?

She headed to the common room, her heels clicking against the marbled floors. Her hips swaying seductively in every step. Her eyes landed on the blond, and she broke into an even bigger smile.

"Good morning, Blakey!" she cooed, approaching the man seated by the built-in bar alone. He chuckled at the sight of her, "I see that you had fun last night" he commented, scanning her appearance. He reckons many suffered in her hands, nothing new with that. Lilith is the kind of vampire that tends to play with her food first.

"Let me guess, College boys?" he assumed, it was after all her favourite. She always liked them young, refusing to drink blood from anyone older than 25.

The redhead grabbed an empty glass and gestured for him to pour her the same drink he was drinking. And he did so, "You know me too well, Blakey." she said, biting her lower lip and looking at him playfully.

"Did you call Clean-up?" Blake asked, causing Lilith's eyes to roll like the spoiled woman that she was. His eyes narrowed at the redhead dangerously; she was the very reason why they recruited a team who does clean up for them. Considering they had a couple of close calls of getting exposed to the world over the century. And worst of all he'll be the one hearing an earful from the Abomination if they cause an uproar from her careless killing. The Abomination could care less about the other families, be it the Eternal Ancestry, the family that rules over all vampires. The Bloodmoon Hounds the largest werewolf pack, or the Congregation that rules over most witches and warlocks.

But hated dealing with Hunters most of all, pathetic weak humans who seemed never to stop when they started their hunt. He had eliminated family after family, but they seem to continue their work in the shadows.

"You know Aldren hates dealing with the aftermath. He can't allure everyone, and you know it's the 21st century, the internet is forever, Lilith." he warned, and she huffed in response. She didn't need a lecture so early in the morning.

"Where?" Blake asked, his tone turning serious, which was far from average. He had always been the light-hearted one between the three of them, but he also happened to be the right-hand man of the Abomination. He makes sure everything is in order, and dealing with technology is the bane of his existence.

"I called of course!" she said, stomping her feet in annoyance at the way he was talking to her. He had always been the patient type, Blake rarely got angry, but when he did it scared even her.

The blond's face softened, and he smiled at her. Placing a hand on top of her head like she was a child, "Good job lilith." he cooed teasingly. The redhead slapped his hand away, pouting.

"I'm not a child!" she insisted. Blake rolled his eyes, then took a sip of his glass. "COuld have fooled me." he shot back.

Lilith scanned the common room, "Where's Al?" she asked, noticing that she can't seem to sense him in the Mansion.

Blake raised a brow, and he shot her a smile. "He left with his wife to New York." he informed, causing Lilith to frown visibly. "That ugly bitch." she spat.

The blond noted the expression on her face, "You know she's far from ugly right?" Blake said, wondering if she was actually delusional enough to believe that. The redhead shot him a look, "I know." she said, the admission almost making her gag.

"Then why are you so against her? Let your brother have a little bit of fun." he asked, he knew it wasn't just the fact that the platinum blonde stabbed her with a stake. She was a lot of things, but she was never the kind to hold a grudge. He knew that all too well over the century.

Lilith's usually proud eyes turned soft for a second, "She's mortal." she said, losing Blake for a second.

She rolled his eyes at his expression, "She's mortal, meaning she will eventually die." she explained. Blake scoffed, "So what the problem, you wanted her dead didn't you? You just have to wait a few years, and you never know maybe it's soon," he said, giving her reason to stop fretting.

"You're so clueless at times. Blake." she said, walking towards the divan and sitting on it, crossing her legs and leaning comfortably.

"What is that supposed to mean?" the blond asked.

He didn't see any problem with it. Mortals tend to do that, Die.

"Men are so stupid." she claimed, and he arched a brow at her. She basically insulted all men, no matter what race.

"You don't even see the way he looks at her. And stupid Al dont even realize it himself. And when she dies, it will break him." she said, "And I'd have to deal with the aftermath for the rest of eternity." she added, staring straight to his eyes.

"How bad could it be?" Blake thought out loud. And Lilith glared at him like he was stupid, "Its Al, he was called Abomination for a reason. Well, I guess you wouldn't exactly know. You joined us after his heyday. He's a lot nicer now, more forgiving." she explained, recalling the early days. There was so much killing then. Nowadays, they live peacefully in her standards.

Blake chuckled, amused at the thought. "Aldren forgiving?" he said. He had eliminated several Witch families just because they refused to break Luna's curse for him.

Him forgiving?

Never.

Lilith looked at him sternly, and there was something in the way she looked at him that sent chills down his spine.

"Believe me, you hadn't seen him at his worst." Lilith said.
