Chapter 88: Chapter 88: Too Late (3), The Will To Protect
As Long Zao became lost in his thoughts, a whooshing sound resembling that of a gust of a wind suddenly got invoked from the Devil's Crystal.
The smoke that's coming out from it directly flew towards Shu Feng in a speed naked to the eye. Anyone could only see a dark smoke rushing like a mad bull.
Everything that it passes became lifeless. Rocks turned to ashes as if it was burned down by the flame of hell. Trees dried up as if all of it's vitality had been sucked away. Even the soil turned black without exemption.
Luckily, there is no single beast present due to the fight scaring them away or else if they got caught by this black smoke, they would surely die in just a split second.
'Shit!' Long Zao thought as he planned to rush towards Shu Feng and fend off that smoke but when he was just about to rush over, his soul pulsates suddenly that it made him kneel at the ground while trembling all over!
The Devil's Crystal is the nemesis of any Soul form beings and adding to the fact that he is just a sliver of his soul and his power had been drained together with the passage of time, he would become a food for that crystal if he attempted to rush over.
He knows! Just the fact that even if he is miles away from the Crystal and it still manage to threaten him confirmed everything.
As his soul began to tremble, he cast his gaze to Shu Feng who is about to be devoured by the Devil's Crystal in his current state!
He wanted to make a move but his Soul says otherwise. He won't be able to lend a help at the moment and would just become a food for that Crystal. If that happens, the power that the crystal contained would be enhanced greatly due to the nutritions that his soul could provide.
It was his instincts that made his tremble and stop his own actions or else, the Devil's Crystal would notice him and he will be hunted down!
Of course he is confident in escaping the pursuit but what about Zen Fu that is currently unconscious and would not wake up at the moment.
All he can do right now is suffer in guilt and shame silently while clenching his fist in fury. He is a Immortal Cultivator and yet he cannot even lend a hand at the current moment.
As a past Immortal Cultivator, he knows a lot of things and his knowledge is priceless but with his whole soul gone and only a partial is remaining, almost Ninety percent of his knowledge and memories dispersed together with his soul when he died.
Soul is a very complicated being. It stores everything including memory and knowledge. When Long Zao died, he remove a small part of his soul where all of the most important information was located. But with the tiny space that his sliver of soul could provide, he cannot store everything in it.
As for the soul that disappeared into the afterlife, it would be forever gone and couldn't be restored anymore. And soon, this sliver of his soul would also go to the afterlife since he is supposed to be 'dead' already.
It is already against the rules that he could remove a sliver of his soul but since he is a Immortal Cultivator, doing this thing is simple for him but even if how simple it is, he still couldn't escape the grasp of time and death.
Many thoughts lingered at that moment but nothing could be of help to him at the current situation. The pride of a Immortal Realm Cultivator had been long gone since the day that he died. Even letting something as a mere Devil's Crystal threaten him until he is reduce to kneeling and trembling all over.
The smoke made it's way towards Shu Feng without any hindrance. Feng feels something disturbing coming to him but he couldn't move a single inch since it was just a moment ago that he started healing himself.
Not even a whole minute had passed so it was normal that his severe injuries won't heal with that given amount of time. Luckily, his mind could still work albeit weakly. This should be more than enough to defend himself until he recover just a little bit strength.
As Shu Feng was drifting in his thoughts of protecting himself. The surroundings heeds his call as it started to act strange. The clouds started to gather in a whirling motion as a strong gust of wind begins to cover Shu Feng in a form of faint tornado.
It becomes more visible with each passing moment! The Energy Source started to gather around Shu Feng maintaining a radius of ten meters away from him which instantly formed a faint barrier!
Leaves flew everywhere until they assembled together with the tornado. The at which the wind rotates made those leaves as sharp as blades that could tear anything that tries to enter the center of the tornado.
Shu Feng seemed to be oblivious about what is happening around him as if his own mind was drifting into it's own world. Warm and cozy that would make anyone comfortable and sleepy.
He cannot get himself out of it, as if the place is something where he could let his guard down and feel safe without worrying about anything.
You could see in Shu Feng's eyes that he is currently in a state of enlightenment!
It would never occur that in the situation where hia life is on the brink of death, he would gain a sudden realization which could become dangerous and fortunate at the same time.
If someone manage to sneak on him while in the state of enlightenment, they would be able to kill him easily if he didn't have any means of protection but this situation could also turn the tables since if he successfully finish his realization then a he might get a advancement in his cultivation level or a boost in his strength!
The will to preserve his life and protect himself from the incoming danger triggered his passive skill, Chaos Will. As it says in the description, it would act depending on his own will.
The current occurance where a tornado appeared, the surrounding Energy Source formed a barrier and the leaves takes form of small blades together with the wind proves that Shu Feng gained an enlightenment on his Chaos Will!
