Chapter 34: Chapter 33

PAIN.

It was all I felt as my eyes slowly fluttered open. Harsh, bright lights shone down on me as a quiet whimper escaped my lips. Lifting a hand, I covered my eyes. My gaze trailed down to the tightly bound ropes around my legs and hands, cuffing me to a bed. A large, white bandage wrapped around my thigh, a red stain seeping through.

I looked around my surroundings uneasily. The room was small, the grey stoned walls splattered in what appeared to be blood. A metal trolley was next to my bed and on top lay a few needles, coupled with a green substance.

Had that been injected into me?

A quiet sob sounded from my chest. Everything was becoming too much for me to handle. How was a seventeen-year-old supposed to deal with all of this? How was any of this fair?

"How do you feel?"

My gaze immediately snapped over to Vincent, who sat in the corner of the room silently. My heart pounded at the volume of his voice. How long had he been sitting there?
