"I FOUND YOU."
A chilling shiver ran down my spine as I slowly turned around. Dmitry stood across from me, almost hidden by the dark shadows cast by the trees. Under the flickering lamp, a sinister, sickly sweet smile curled up on his lips.
"I told you, Isla," He chortled, clutching his stomach. "I would catch you. I always do."
My face drained of all colour as my heart twisted painfully in my chest. "Y-You said if I made it far enough -"
"You call this far enough?" He snorted in disbelief and shook his head. My eyes immediately dropped to the knife he wielded expertly in his hand. "It's time to come back now."
I took a shaky step back. "I-I don't want to."
Dmitry's eyes narrowed into dangerous slits. "Isla..."
A quiet growl escaped his chest as I took another step back. My heart thumped so loudly in my chest; I was afraid he would even be able to hear it. My eyes flitted up and down the empty road, hoping for some kind of miracle.
