Chapter 28: Working in Pairs

It had been a month since Kellian joined the art club. She enjoys being in the club a lot. Ryder has also begun treating her almost like he did before. Kellian has also made friends with the girls from the club.

A week after Kellian joined they started doing themes to keep the drawings interesting. Since a month has passed they have also moved on to a new medium of art. For this month, Ryder chose painting.

The theme for today was royalty. Kellian used the money she had been saving when, she got free meals, to buy some accessories and stole an outfit from her father's closest.

Why her father's closet? There were some really pretty dresses in there that seemed princess-like for some reason. In fact, there were a lot of women's clothes inside that were not in Kaila's size.

Kellian chose not to question it and after she got what she needed she left the house and waited for Ein outside. Kaila was not home but she still kept in contact with Ein to make sure Kellian stays with him.

School went as usual. Nothing much had changed. She skipped class but did the work. Then got bullied at lunch because Ein ate with his girlfriend. And finally, she masterfully escaped her watchers and made it to the art club.

Once inside she is greeted by Mint and they change into their costume for the day.

"Kelly aren't you just adorable!" Mint squealed.

Kellian was wearing a beautiful silver tiara, an elegant baby blue ball gown and baby blue glass heels.

"Um, thank you?" She didn't know how to react to compliments.

"You're welcome! I just knew you were going to be a pretty princess in a blue dress!" Mint said excitedly as she dug around in her bag.

"How?" Kellian tilted her head.

"Well I noticed you like blue... and I may or may not have asked Talia what you'd be wearing..." Mint admitted.

"How would she know?" Kellian asked.

"Well, she has a knack for predictions. She predicted that you would wear a ball gown. I say she has a knack for it but she's actually really bad. It took so much for her to find out! Sigh."

"That's quite the contrast," Kellian stated.

"Oh! She better at predicting thing than a normal person but she needs something connected to that person or event and she gets really tired afterwards." Mint explained.

"Something connected to the person or event?" Kellian questioned.

"I may or may not have used your hair..." Mint revealed.

"My hair???" Kellian was shocked.

"Oh my gosh look a bee!" Mint pointed behind Kellian.

"What where? Ah!" Surprisingly there was actually a bee. Kellian hid behind Mint.

"Shhh... don't worry it won't hurt you." It flew out of the room. "Look it's gone."

"Sigh." Kellian let out a sigh of relief.

"I got you these." Mint took out a box filled with jewellery.

"Wow."

"Some even match your outfit. Keep them all okay?" Mint pushed the box into Kellian's arms.

"Thank you." Kellian smiled happily.

"No problem." She looked away shyly. "What do you think of me?"

Mint was wearing a jester outfit.

"You look cute," Kellian answered.

"Eeeeee!!! Thank you!!! I bet I look hotter than Ryder now! Mwah hahaha!!!" She laughed victoriously.

They drew and painted like usual then Mint suggested something. "Let's work in pairs too!!!!"

"Yesss!!!!" Sash agreed immediately.

"Sure." Aisha also agreed.

"Alright." Talia agreed.

"Okay." Kellian thought it might be fun.

"Kay." Ryder agreed but he wasn't interested.

"Perfect!" Mint was happy everyone agreed.

"How do we decide the pairs?" Kellian asked.

"Well, we already had pairs Ryder as always by himself. So you can pair with him now." Say suggests.

Ryder looked at her then said, "I don't want to work with an air-headed blueberry."

"What did you just say Assho—..." She glaced at Kellian then corrected herself, "Asshat!"

"Chill, Chihuahua. I wasn't talking to you." Ryder stated while playing a game on his phone.

"You wanna go!?" Aisha yelled.

"Down girl," Mint commanded.

She sat down. Mint gave her a chocolate bar.

"So she can call you a dog?" Ryder called out her bias.

"She did no such thing." Aisha huffed.

"Sure." Ryder rolled his eyes.

"If you don't want to partner with her I'll take her. You don't deserve her anyway." Mint smiled happily. This is what she wanted in the first place.

"No!" Sash yelled.

"Huh? Sash." Mint asked confused.

"I like... being your... partner." Sash had a look of disgust as she struggled to get the words out.

"You can't even say that with a straight face," Mint commented.

"Fine. You're getting in their way." Sash answered honestly.

"Huh?" Mint was confused.

"I ship them!" Sash yelled.

"I know you do," Mint said with a straight face.

"W-was I that obvious?" Sash asked, kind of embarrassed.

"Yes," Mint answered immediately.

"Anyway, Kelly let's go grab some more painting supplies!" Mint dragged her away.

"Why do you "ship" me with... her?" Ryder asked with a look of disgust.

"Because. Why won't you look at her?" Sash asked.

"She's far too ugly for my pure alpha eyes to look at. They might fall out." Ryder replied.

"You son of a—" Ryder grabbed her by the collar cutting her sentence short. "Let me go you—"

"You're awfully feisty today. I'm not afraid to beat a girl that attacks me first so you don't have to hold back. Let it out. You'll feel better." Ryder smiled but it held no warmth. It seemed that he was threatening her.

Mint and Kellian came back. "You're so damn lucky to be partnering with my sweet Kelly."

"Hehe. All boy-girl pairs must pose like a couple." Aisha smiled.

"But there's only one—" Sash yelped in pain because her foot got stepped on.

"It's a rule!" Aisha continued.

"Mhmm. I have no objections. But I think we should all do couple poses."

"I object!" Ryder stated.

"Overruled." Mint smiled. "Now work."

Kelly and Ryder were doing pretty good painting separately and together. They had to do at least one painting where they worked together and they found it fun. Even though sometimes their arms would get tangled when they painted together and Ryder would get annoyed at yell at her.

Kelly did a simple pose but she looked adorable doing it. Ryder effortlessly looked amazing and then the time came they had to do a pose together.

They were just going to do a pose standing beside each other but when Mint was telling them to get closer, Kelly tripped and he caught her. Mint saw a perfect opportunity and told them to hold the pose. Instead, Ryder picked her up bridal style and posed like that.

Meanwhile.

With Ein.

"She disappeared again?" Ein asked the three people in front of him. They were number 6, 8 and one of Ein's guys, James.

"Uhhh... No. We didn't lose her this time... she's... Just in the bathroom!" Number 8 lied.

"Yeah." Number 6 played along.

"Then why aren't you watching her? Didn't Heather give you a command like that or something?" Ein questioned. He already knew that Kellian was probably at the club she told him was a secret.

"Right we got to go do that!" They laughed awkwardly.

"...Useless." Ein walked away.

"Nooo.... because of that human brat Ein-senpai called me useless!!!" Number 6 complained.

"What if Ein likes her?" James asked.

"Why would he?" Number 6 asked in disgust.

"I mean she's not that ugly for a human and she isn't weak either." Number 8 answered.

"There's no way!" Number 6 yelled.

"That's why we should give her a lesson! She's going to get in the way and upset Heather!!!" James said, determined.

"And steal Ein!" Number 6 added.

"We need to find Heather." Number 8 stated.

"Why?" Heather asked.

"Because we need to tell her about— Hello Heather..." Number 8 immediately greeted her.

"Tell me about what?" Heather asked.

"That human disappeared again." Number 6 stated.

"So?" Heather asked.

"Ein yelled at us." Number 8 added.

"I see," Heather stated.

"Should we teach her a lesson?" James asked then said, "I can give her a good beating!"

"Oh, that won't be necessary." Heather skipped over to a wall. "Ein let's go eat something while we wait for the human~"

"Kay." Ein stepped out, linked arms with her then glared at the three over Heather's shoulder.

The colour drained from their faces. They were all thinking the same thing, 'We're screwed. He was listening to everything.'

Meanwhile.

"Kyle you're back!" Simon greeted.

"Sup." Kyle waved.

"Remember that crush I told you about?" Simon asked while leading Kyle somewhere.

"Yeah?" Kyle answered while following.

"We started dating while you were gone." Simon revealed.

"What so..."

"Kyle, this is my girlfriend Sally. Sally, this is my best friend Kyle." Simon cut off Kyle as he introduced the two.

"S-sally?" Kyle was shocked.

"Loser that Amanda was gonna use?" Sally was confused.

"Sally be nice." Simon asserted.

"Fine. Hello, loser. You better not touch me." She stated with a forced smile.

"Sally..." Simon wanted her to be nicer.

"Sigh." She sighed then noticed how close the boys were. "Hey! You're far too close to him. Move."

"O... okay?" Kyle was confused but did as he was told.

"This is mine. You don't touch what's mine as you please." She said as she wrapped her arms around Simon. Simon's face immediately flushed.

"O... okay." Kyle was still confused but he was more scared.

"Good. Now if you be a good little boy I won't snitch." Sally smiled.

"Snitch?" Simon asked.

"Don't worry about it. Let's go to a cafe. Your friend may join us." Sally smiled happily as she held Simon's hand.

"Okay. Let's go." Simon agreed.

"Make sure to keep your distance. You can't steal him." She warned.

"...? I'm not interested in your boyfriend!" Kyle yelled finally realising what she thinks.

"Sure. Likely story. Just keep your hands and eyes of my virgin." She glared.

"Your... vir...gin...?" Kyle questioned.

"You have a problem, loser?" Sally asked looking like she was going to kill him.

"N-no." He responded.

"Good." She was happy.

"But..." Kyle was worried about Simon being with this girl.

"Quit undressing him with your eyes! You lost your chance." Sally said then kissed Simon.

"I'm not into guys!" Kyle yelled.

She tossed Simon aside to argue. "I know what I see. Trust me. I'm a yaoi expert."

"Don't compare me to your books!" Kyle yelled.

"Hmph." That's when she noticed Simon on the ground. His entire face was so red and so hot the steam was almost visible, his breathing was rushed and his heartbeat was racing. "Virgin?... Simon? Are you okay? Babe!" Sally yelled desperately as she was worried and failed to realise she was the cause of this reaction.
