Chapter 103: Chapter 103:

Fuyōna sat on the bench overlooking the small lake in the hidden leaf, knowing that he had to make a decision about what he was going to do.

Would he leave the Uchiha to their fate at Itachi's hands, or would he step in, trying to stop the massacre?

"Mummy I want some ice cream!" A small voice shouted, suddenly distracting Fuyōna from his thoughts.

"I know Toto, I know. Let's get home first and then we can have some ice cream." The boy's mother said, giving her son a warm smile.

"Yay!" The boy yelled as he jumped up and down while holding onto his mother's hand in excitement, causing his mother to laugh.

Fuyōna watched from the distance, seeing how peaceful they looked.

"If I try and save the Uchiha, it would most likely result in a civil war between them and the Village. Putting all of these innocents at risk. And for what?" Fuyōna said softly to himself, realizing he had already made his decision.

"It's decided then." He said as he slowly stood up to his full height, taking one last look towards the lake.

"I can't waste my time and energy focusing on a village and people that I have nothing to do with. Even if I tried to talk to them, or save them, there is next to no chance they would listen to me anyway." Fuyōna thought as he slowly stretched.

He turned his head to look over towards the Uchiha district, knowing that all of them, both old and young would be killed by Itachi in the coming days. Danzo's plan would ultimately come to pass and the leaf village would be saved from the devastation of a civil war with the Uchiha clan.

Still, Fuyōna could feel a lump in his throat, feeling as if he was powerless to do anything to stop it. All he had left was his final plan, something that he had been saving as his ace in the whole. The only problem was, would the people that he needed to trust him, believe in his enough to follow his plan.

Fuyōna was so lost in his thoughts about the whole ordeal that he failed to notice a boy walking up the path behind him, only realizing he was there once he spoke.

"Can I help you with something?" The voice said coming from behind Fuyōna.

Fuyōna didn't have to turn around to know who it belonged to. Instead smiling a little before he slowly turned to face the legend himself.

"Itachi Uchiha," Fuyōna said, taking the boy by surprise as he said his name.

Itachi studied him carefully, looking Fuyōna up and down with his keen eyes.

"Who are you?" Itachi asked, knowing that the man he saw before him was not real.

Fuyōna slowly placed his hands into his pockets before looking Itachi in the eye.

"Follow me." He said, turning on his heel as he started to walk away from the Uchiha district.

Itachi could feel a powerful aura coming from this person, but he didn't feel any form of hostility coming from him and so decided to follow him.

The two of them walked at a steady pace towards the tree line of a small woods located on the outskirts of the village. Fuyōna knew that here they would be safe from any prying eyes, not that he could sense any. Still, it was better to be safe than sorry, after all, the leaf had many different ways they could spy on people, and it was something they were very good at.

Once they were in the clear and out of sight, Fuyōna stopped and turned around to face Itachi, who also stopped and waited for Fuyōna to make the first move.

Fuyōna was impressed that Itachi didn't even flinch as he raised his hand to form a hand sign, allowing him to release the transformation Jutsu and reveal his true identity.

Fuyōna burst into smoke as his Jutsu came undone, standing there to reveal his true presence to Itachi.

"L-Lord Mizukage..." Itachi said confused.

"What are you doing here?" Itachi asked, not sure why one of the five Kage, especially one who had just formed an alliance with the leaf village was spying on the Uchiha clan.

"I know about your mission Itachi. And I know what you are planning to do." Fuyōna said, putting his cards on the table.

This time Itachi did flinch, but only by the tiniest bit, remaining calm as he tried not to give anything away.

"What are you talking about?" Itachi shot back, playing the blank card.

"Look Itachi. I know what you have been ordered to do. I know that you don't agree with the Uchiha planning to rebel against the village. And I know that you are prepared to kill every single one of them if it means protecting your village." Fuyōna said, this time hitting a nerve.

"How do you know this?" Itachi asked.

"There are only two possible ways that you could know this information," Itachi said, feeling his body tense as he looked Fuyōna up and down.

"Either Lord Hokage or lord Danzo told you about this mission, or you have been spying on our village, breaking your treaty with us." He said.

Fuyōna smiled, knowing that Itachi would be prepared to attack him if need be.

"You can calm down, I am not your enemy here, and I am not the one who has been spying..." Fuyōna said.

"I came here today to make a decision on whether or not to stop you. Did you know that?" Fuyōna said as he sighed.

"You see, I just couldn't help but wonder what would happen if I did." He said as he started walffing, not even looking at Itachi as he spoke.

"Stop me?" Itachi asked.

"I know how it sounds. I just wasn't sure which direction to take honestly. You know? I was like should I talk to him, should I just kill him? Should I save the Uchiha clan..." Fuyōna said as he cocked an eyebrow towards Itachi, feeling the tension that was coming from him.

"Are you saying that you plan on killing me and my clan?" Itachi asked, getting serious.

Fuyōna looked Itachi in the eye seeing that his Sharingan had activated, knowing that he had put him on guard.

"No... I'm not planning on doing anything to you or your clan actually." Fuyōna then said as he let the tension in the air fade as if he had only been joking this whole time.

"Itachi..." He then said, getting serious again.

"Do whatever you think is right," Fuyōna said, taking Itachi off guard as he smiled at him.

Itachi was confused. First, he discovered that the Mizukage was spying on him, then he tells him he was planning on killing him and his clan, and now he says he was only joking and has told him to do what he thinks is right. he had to say he was very confused indeed.

"What is it that you are saying exactly?" Itachi asked after having a moment to think.

Fuyōna smiled and started walking over towards Itachi, getting closer and closer with each step, causing Itachi to grow tense, not knowing whether or not he was planning to attack him.

"I will leave you with one simple bit of advice," Fuyōna said as he placed his hand onto Itachi's shoulder.

"Those who turn their hands against their comrades are sure to die a terrible death. True Change cannot be made if it is bound by laws and limitations, predictions and imagination." Fuyōna said as he whispered the words into his ear before he let go of Itachi's shoulder.

"Together, I believe that you and Shiuzi have the power to change the fate of the Uchiha clan and the leaf village for the better." Fuyōna then said as he turned to face Itachi one last time.

Itachi was silent for a moment as the words sank in, holding true meaning in his thoughts before he looked towards Fuyōna.

"And what of you? What is it that you are planning to do?" Itachi asked.

"I already know what I have to do," Fuyōna said as he continued to walk away from Itachi, only raising his hand in a gesture of goodbye.

"Until we meet again, Itachi Uchiha," Fuyōna said as he slowly faded out of sight, leaving Itachi alone with his thoughts.

Fuyōna carried on walking for a while until he finally slipped into an ice mirror that took him directly to Danzo's very office, causing serious alarm as he appeared before the village elder and his root Anbu which whom he was currently in a meeting about the assassination mission Itachi would be carrying out.

"What is the meaning of this!" Danzo shouted as Fuyōna simply stepped out of the ice mirror, surprising everyone and putting them on guard as they stared to mumble to each other and drew their weapons.

"Sorry for the unannounced visit Danzo, but I'm afraid I had something to discuss that just simply could not wait.

Danzo looked at Fuyōna with a hard glare, already feeling that something wasn't right here.

"And what would that be?" Danzo asked.

"It has come to my attention that despite our villages entering into an alliance, you still intended to undermine that and go behind my back, selling information to the sand and stone," Fuyōna said, accusing Danzo of committing espionage and treason against the mist.

"As you know that is in clear violation of our agreement between villages, as well as myself and lord Hokage..." Fuyōna said, watching as Danzo's root Anbu started to grow tense as they prepared to attack.

Danzo kept a straight face as he placed both hands on his cane, using it to bear his weight before he spoke.

"My, my... You really are most troublesome Mizukage..." He said with a smug grin.

"And just what do you plan to accomplish by storming in here all alone may I ask?" Danzo said, keeping his eye firmly fixed on Fuyōna.

"Not only are you alone and outnumbered, but you are a foreigner in our land, one who does not belong here!" Danzo suddenly shouted.

Fuyōna remained quiet for a moment, letting Danzo think he had the upper hand.

"I may be out of place and outnumbered. But you are forgetting one thing Danzo." Fuyōna said, looking him in the eye.

Danzo raised his eyebrow in question, not sure what he was getting at.

"An alliance between our villages means something. And not just to me, but to the leaf as well." Fuyōna said before the doors to Danzos office suddenly burst open, revealing the third Hokage and his Anbu guard.

"Hiruzen... What is the meaning of this!" Danzo said, not liking the look of the situation.

Hiruzen walked into the room, seeing that Danzo and his root Anbu were getting ready to attack Fuyōna, causing him to frown.

"Stand down at once! This will be your only warning." The Hokage shouted, letting his voice boom through the room.

Fuyōna could also see that his Anbu was ready to attack, seeing that Kakashi was one of them, readying his sword at the orders of the Hokage.

Danzo could see that his odds of coming out of this situation were dropping by the second, knowing that he didn't stand a chance against both Hiruzen and Fuyōna.

"Are you really going to side with him! Over your own kin Hiruzen!" Danzo shouted, getting very defensive.

"Lord Mizukage has informed me of everything you have been doing. Do you really think you would get away with it! Going behind my back and undermining my authority for the last time!" Hiruzen shouted, clearly very angry with his childhood friend.

"I did what needed to be done. Something you didn't have the will to do!"

Hiruzen looked down at the ground as he shook his head in disappointment.

"How did it come to this?" Hiruzen asked, knowing that he couldn't let this slide, not this time.

"I'm sorry it had to come to this lord Hokage," Fuyōna said turning to look at him for a moment.

"It's treason then..." Danzo said. Holding his cane with both hands, causing everyone to tense, knowing that he wouldn't go down without a fight.

"Don't do it, Danzo." Hiruzen said with a serious expression, warning him not to make a move.

"I won't go down so easily!" Danzo shouted as he threw his cane down, getting ready to activate his ninjutsu, causing everyone to step back on the defensive.

"Look out!" Hiruzen shouted as he was about to form his own counter attack, quickly forming a bunch of handsigns.

However, before anyone else could do anything, Fuyōna made his move, quickly dashing forwards and piercing his hand clean through Danzo's chest without a moment of hesitation.

Danzo stood in shock and utter disbelief as blood started to spill from his mouth.

"Y-You..." He said as he spat blood onto the ground, his eye open wide in disbelief.

Everyone else was shocked at what had just happened, including Hiruzen, who deep down had not wanted Danzo dead.

"L-Lord Danzo!" His root Anbu shouted in horror as they tried to jump to his aid and attack Fuyōna.

However, ice shot up from the ground, fully trapping each of them in an unbreakable pillar, freezing them in an instant, which left him and Danzo alone.

"Did you really think I would let you get away with this?" Fuyōna said looking Danzo in the eye, even with his hand thrust through his chest.

Danzo coughed, spitting out more blood onto the ground.

"You are a fool..." Danzo said as he raised his good arm, using it to rip his robe open and reveal the black sealing markings on his body.

Hiruzen's eyes shot open as he realized what the jutsu was, knowing that it would take out everyone within range, sealing them inside of his very corpse.

"I will take you all down with me!!!" Danzo shouted in a final fit of rage, knowing that at this range, everyone would be sealed with his jutsu.

"Get back! It's a reverse four symbol sealing jutsu! Get out of range!" Hiruzen shouted as he quickly started to form hand signs, determined to do his best to save as many of his men as he could, even if it cost him his own life.

"Lord Hokage! No, you can't!" Kakashi shouted, knowing that if he was caught in that sealing jutsu, not even he would be able to survive.

Danzo coughed out more blood with an evil smile, knowing there was no escape for them.

"I will have my revenge after all!" He shouted with the last of his strength.

"No Danzo... You won't." Fuyōna said abruptly, already having prepared for this Jutsu.

Suddenly Danzo's body started to freeze from the point in his chest where Fuyōna's hand had pierced. The ice didn't just freeze him, it started to form a huge layer of ice all around the two of them that reflected everything inside of it.

"W-What is this!" Danzo shouted as he watched the ice trap his sealing jutsu, seeming to reflect it back inside of the ice walls.

"This is a little jutsu of mine I created to trap and contain dangerous jutsu such as this. Now your sealing jutsu will only affect whatever is trapped inside of these walls." Fuyōna said as he slowly took a step back, removing his hand from Danzo's chest.

"No.... No... NO!!!" Danzo shouted, seeing that his final efforts had been for nothing.

Meanwhile, Hiruzen and the others could only watch in surprise as the ice-style trap formed around both Danzo and Fuyōna, seeming to protect everyone else from the sealing jutsu Danzo had intended to take everyone down with.

"Lord Hokage!" Kakashi shouted as he ran to his side.

"I'm alright Kakashi," he said looking at the ice as he tried to study it.

"Did he really seal a sealing jutsu with such ease?" Kakashi asked as he tried to study it himself with his Sharingan.

Hiruzen nodded slowly as he stood to his full height.

"All we can do is wait and see what happens next." He said.

Fuyōna was currently inside the ice trap with Danzo as the sealing jutsu started to consume the both of them.

"You may have trapped us inside this jutsu of yours, but at least you will go down with me!" Danzo shouted with the last of his breath as the ice reached his neck.

However, Fuyōna chuckled before looking into Danzo's eyes.

"I'm afraid not," Fuyōna said as he stopped laughing.

"You will die alone with your Jutsu achieving nothing. All of your plans and horrors that you would inflict upon the people of this village and the rest of the world will never happen." Fuyōna said, knowing with Danzo's death coming this early, the world would change drastically.

"Everyhting I ever did was for the good of this village... No matter what you say, you will never take that away from me..." Danzo said with the last of his breath.

Danzo watched with the last of his strength as his sealing jutsu took full hold of Fuyōna's body, trapping him where he stood, only to feel a huge wave of horror as Fuyōna's body started to crumble into ice, revealing he had been a clone the whole time.

"C-curse you... Ice devil..."

Those were Danzo's last words as his sealing jutsu exploded, being contained by the ice trap that suddenly imploded in on itself, turning into a small ice jar that reflected everything inside of it.

"What is that jutsu..." Kakashi asked, having never seen anything like it before.

"Sir, we are unsure if lord Mizukage survived." One of the other Anbu spoke as he stood by Hiruzens other side.

"Don't worry about me," Fuyōna said from behind them, taking all of them by surprise.

Hiruzen turned around to see Fuyōna standing there unharmed, feeling a little overwhelmed at his display of Jutsu if he was being honest.

"What of Danzo?" He asked, getting straight to the point.

"I'm afraid he was killed by his own Jutsu," Fuyōna said, even if it was only half the truth.

Hiruzen lowered his head, feeling the heavy loss of his childhood friend.

"It is done then... Danzo has paid for his crimes against us with his life." The Hokage said after a moment.

"Yes. I understand you were good friends lord Hokage, and that in your choice of our alliance over him was a huge step in the direction of peace between our two villages." Fuyōna said in thanks.

"Yes..." Hiruzen said as he tried to compose himself.

"Sir, are you alright?" Kakashi asked, never having seen him like this before.

"I am Kakashi... I will be fine." He said as he folded his arms behind his back.

"Come then... It would seem we have many things to discuss, lord Mizukage." He finally said as he looked over to Fuyōna.

Fuyōna understood that would be the case, and he knew that Hiruzen would take Danzo's death hard. But he also knew this was the best course of action he could take to achieve everything he had been planning. All that was left was to reassure Hiruzen of their alliance and move forwards together as they had intended.

"Of course, Lord Hokage. Let us retire for the day and discuss our future together as allies."

Chapter 104:

With the death of Danzo, Fuyōna and the Hokage returned to his office. Fuyōna could sense that Hiruzen had a heavy heart with the death of his friend, even if he was committing treason against the village.

Fuyōna had no real reason to stay in the leaf any longer, knowing that with the death of Danzo, the Hokage would most likely be able to come to an arrangement with the Uchiha now that Shishu would remain alive.

The two Kage sat in the Hokage's office, remaining silent for the time being before Fuyōna decided to break his silence.

"I am truly sorry for your loss, lord Hokage. I know Danzo was an old friend of yours." He said as he crossed his legs.

Hiruzen remained silent as he struck a match to light his pipe with, taking a large hit on it before he blew out the smoke.

"Danzo and I didn't agree on much. Infact, We fought for the title of Kage back in our younger days, many times even over the years. Eventually, we came to the agreement that I would become Hokage and remain in the light. While he would retreat to the shadows and protect the village in ways I couldn't be seen to." The Hokage said.

Fuyōna nodded.

"I understand." He said, already knowing most things that Danzo would do that the Hokage would not.

"It works a little differently in the mist lord Hokage, but I understand the necessary arrangement."

The only question now would be if killing Danzo would turn Hiruzen softer, or turn him cold. Possibly affecting his decisions made in the future. However, Only time would tell, but Fuyōna would simply have to wait and see what happened from here, having decided that his meddling in the leaf village had come to an end.

"Once again I would like to express my apologies for your loss. I know as I am the one who brought his actions to light and caused this whole mess. Yet, it was only right that I take responsibility for what happened." Fuyōna said.

"No." Hiruzen suddenly said, cutting him off.

"This is not your fault, lord Mizukage. You did what you had to, protecting everyone from Danzo's final attempt to take us all with him. Frankly, I am more disappointed that, that is how he chose to meet his end." Hiruzen said with a sad expression, not expecting that of him at all.

Fuyōna nodded before he slapped his thighs and stood to his feet, knowing it was time to leave.

"As I said lord Hokage, you have my apologies for what has transpired. But, I am afraid that the time has come for me to return to my own village and take care of business." He said looking Hiruzen in the eyes.

"Of course Lord Mizukage, I understand completely. Indeed you have been away for quite some time now." Hiruzen said as he took his pipe out of his mouth.

"Once again, I thank you for everything and I look forwards to our alliance bringing a bright and prosperous future," Fuyōna said as he took his Kage hat from the desk in front of him.

"And of course, I look forward to our next meeting," Fuyōna said as he smiled and nodded to Hiruzen, who returned his nod.

"Me too, lord Mizukage, I too look forwards to seeing our alliance bring great things to both of our villages and nations. Until next time." He said as he placed his pipe back into his mouth with a smile.

With that Fuyōna raised his hand and summoned an ice mirror, stepping into it slowly before it started to melt into the air harmlessly and disappeared, leaving no trace of him at all.

Hiruzen took another large puff on his pipe before he turned in his chair to look at the pictures of the other Hokage that lined his office walls, looking particularly at the picture of the second Hokage and the 4th Hokage.

"I wonder, what would the two of you have done?" he asked softly, letting the thought roam through his mind as he leaned back into his chair.

Suddenly the door to his office burst open as both of the elders walked in, having heard the news of Danzo's death.

"And yet, more trouble follows..."

Fuyōna stepped out of his ice mirror that had appeared in his own office, seeing that the lights were off and the office was empty.

"Seems nobody is here." He said as his feet touched the floor, allowing his ice mirror to melt behind him.

Fuyōna took a look around as he started to nosey around his office, seeing if anything had changed or been moved before he walked over to the large window that looked out over the village.

"Doesn't look as if anything is out of place." He said as a small smile appeared on his face as his eyes caught something.

"That's new," he said as he looked at a picture frame that was on his desk.

it was a picture of him holding both of his babies, with Mei and Suiren on either side of him holding onto his arms.

Fuyōna smiled as he picked the picture up to get a better look at it, remembering the day it was taken.

"I've only been away for two weeks, yet it feels like forever." He said to himself, knowing that his family would be happy to see him.

Fuyōna's ears quickly pricked up as he could hear voices coming from the hall towards his office's large doors.

"And I want a report sent to Fuyōna at once. This information cannot wait." The voice said before the doors to his office opened and the light came on, revealing the owner of the said voice.

Mei had walked through the office doors holding a document in her hand as she spoke to what Fuyōna recognized as a member of the intel core. Mei looked as beautiful as ever, yet she was so focused on what she was doing, that she had failed to notice Fuyōna's presence until he spoke.

"Tell me what Mei?" He said, causing Mei to look up in surprise.

Mei stopped as she looked up, looking directly at him as her arms lowered to her sides.

"You... You're back?" She said softly, with a small smile forming on her face.

"Yeah, I just got back now." He said as he placed the picture back onto the desk with the action catching Mei's eye.

Mei quickly regained her composure and walked over to him, quickly diving into him as she wrapped her arms around his neck, pressing her lips to his in an intense display of love.

Fuyōna wrapped his arms around her waist and supported her weight with them as she lifted her feet off the floor for a moment before she placed them back down and broke the kiss.

"I missed you." She said with a cheeky smile.

Fuyōna returned her smile.

"I missed you too," he said as he looked into her eyes.

"Ahem." The intel shinobi said softly, clearing his throat as not to be rude.

"Ah yes." Mei suddenly said as she snapped back into work mode, pulling off of him and pressing the documents into his chest.

"You need to look at this report." She said with a serious expression all of a sudden.

Fuyōna looked down and took the paperwork off of her, looking back at Mei and then to the intel Shinobi, already feeling that they were being serious.

Fuyōna turned around and started slowly making his way to his seat as he read the document at the same time, dropping into his chair before raising an eyebrow at the information he had been given.

"So it has come to that has it?" Fuyōna said as he looked up and placed the paper on his desk.

Both Mei and the intel shinobi remained quiet as they waited for Fuyōna to speak, giving him a moment to process the information.

"And that has come from Ao himself?" Fuyōna asked, looking at Mei.

"Yes, we just received the report not five minutes ago," Mei said as she placed her hand on her hip.

"Very well, I have no choice. Summon the war council..." Fuyōna said with a serious expression, looking down at the report once more.

Mei turned around to give a nod to the intel shinobi, who bowed and disappeared to carry out the order at once, leaving Fuyōna and Mei alone.

"How has it come to this Mei? Do the other villages really fear our alliance with the leaf so much that they would threaten war against us?" Fuyōna asked.

Mei remained quiet, not knowing what she could say. Instead, she walked over to him and sat on his knee, looking him in the eye.

"We can overcome this, my love. You are the strongest man I know, and no matter who we face, we will face them together." Mei said, placing her hand on his cheek.

"Now, let's get home so you can say hello to Suiren and the babies." Mei suddenly said as she planted a soft kiss on his forehead.

"They have missed you dearly."

Fuyōna smiled.

"That sounds nice." He said with a smile, quickly flicking his fingers and allowing an ice mirror to form for them to walk through.

Suiren was currently at their home looking after both of the Babies while Mei was out working. She didn't mind this at all, in fact, it had been her idea to retire from the life of a shinobi and raise the children, becoming a full-time mother.

"Now now Asami, Shōto! Don't pull on Haku's hair like that!" Suiren said as she watched both of the children climb up and over Haku, pulling his hair and trying to chew it.

"It's ok, I don't mind," Haku said with a smile as he grabbed little Shōto and lifted him into the air getting the toddler to start laughing.

Kimimaro was also at home with them, sitting on the couch still wrapped in bandages from his injuries. The two of them had arrived back into the village the day before, having travelled back with Kaga and Koyuki across the land of fire and the sea.

Suddenly an ice mirror appeared next to them causing all of them to look at it in excitement, as they knew what it meant.

Not a moment later Fuyōna and Mei stepped out of the mirror, getting an excited greeting from everyone.

"Look, daddy is back!" Suiren said, watching as both of the babies smiled in excitement as they saw their father.

Fuyōna quickly scooped both of his children up from the ground as they did their best to run over to him, shouting for him in excitement.

"Ahh, I missed you two!" He shouted as he picked them up, rubbing his face on each of theirs getting them to giggle.

"Stop dada, that tickles," Asami said as she tried to pull away from him while laughing.

Shōto did the same but tried to tough it out as he grabbed his father's hair and started to pull on it.

"Oh my, you are a strong little bugger," Fuyōna said as he slowly pulled Shōto off of him and placed them both back onto the ground, chuckling as he did.

Suiren smiled as she watched him play with the babies, waiting for her turn as he made his way over.

"I missed you too Suiren," Fuyōna said as he took her hand in his own, using it to pull her into his arms so he could kiss her.

Suiren didn't resist and let him pull her, returning his kiss with plenty of passion.

"I missed you too." She said as they broke the kiss.

"Eewww!" Both of the children said as they watched them kiss.

"Now, now you too!" Mei suddenly said as she also scooped them up, kissing them both over and over again.

"I think it's past your bedtime." She said once she was done kissing them, smiling at the pair of them as they looked into her eyes.

"No! Not yet mummy!" Shōto shouted, still wanting to play more.

"I'm afraid your father is tired, you can play with him tomorrow," Mei said causing little Shōto to frown.

"Haku, would you be a dear?" She suddenly said as she turned to him.

"Of course," Haku said with a smile as he took Shōto off of her.

"No big brother Haku! I want to play more!" He said with his baby words.

Haku simply smiled as he held him.

"We can play more upstairs." He said, knowing that Mei wanted the room.

Kimimaro also picked up on her hint and took Asami off of her.

"You too Asami" Kimimaro said with a smile.

"Okkk." She said reluctantly.

"Good night everyone!" Fuyōna said as he turned around to kiss each of them on the head, including Haku and Kimimaro who laughed at it.

With that all of the children retired for the night, leaving the adults downstairs alone for the first time in a while.

Suiren couldn't help but notice a sudden shift in the mood, deciding to ask if everything was alright.

"Is everything alright?"

Fuyōna nodded, giving her a soft smile.

"Don't worry, Suiren, just work." He said, not wanting to worry her.

Suiren wasn't stupid though and quickly placed her hands on her hips.

"Fuyōna." She said, giving him a stern expression, causing Mei to laugh.

"She can take it Fuyōna, no need to lie to her," Mei said as she walked over to them, placing a hand on his shoulder.

"lie to me? What is it Fuyōna?" Suiren asked, getting worried now.

"Calm down Suiren. I just didn't want you to panic, but it seems not telling you is making you panic more." He said with a small chuckle before she punched in in the arm playfully.

"Nobody is panicking," She said as she placed her hands back on her hips.

"It would seem that the other nations are opposed to our alliance with the hidden leaf. And if Ao's report is correct, which I believe it is... They are threatening war against us." Fuyōna explained.

Suiren was left speechless for a second as she processed the information she had just been told.

"B-But I thought that an alliance with the leaf was supposed to lead to peace." She said, not believing it.

"I wouldn't worry Suiren. They are simply intimidated by the union of our two villages, you see they know that it would create a large power vacuum with us and the leaf at the top, and that is something they don't want to happen, especially the sand."

Suiren nodded slowly as she understood the severity of the situation.

"What are you going to do?" She asked, knowing would be a tough decision whatever he decided to do.

"The war council has been summoned, but until the time of the meeting, we can relax a little as a family," Fuyōna said, getting a refreshed smile from Suirne.

"That sounds good to me." She said as she wrapped her arms around his back and placed her head on his chest, embracing him and holding him tightly.
