Chapter 5: Chapter Four: Texting

Gianna's Point Of View

I stood there frozen for what felt like hours. Looking at the shirtless boy before me. His sweatpants were hanging low on hips, looking like it was about to fall off any second now.

His brown hair looked messy, like he just got up from bed. His eyes which were slightly red, were focused on me, seemingly waiting for my reaction. His pink lips were set in a straight line, not giving anything away.

I took a minute to admire his build. He had a lean build. The muscles in his arms were prominent, not too big, not too small, just perfect. My eyes navigated to his slightly toned chest, slowly moving down to his clearly defined abs. His tanned skin flowed under the bright light in the kitchen. I'd never been one to fawn over a guy's body, but damn, he was hot.

He cleared his throat , making my green eyes rise up to meet his brown ones. He moved closer to me, walking in a graceful manner.

There was no doubt that he was attractive. I couldn't tell if it was my social anxiety making my heart rate increase, or the pure fact that I was alone with an attractive shirtless boy in my kitchen.

He stopped a few feet away from me. Scratching the back of his head, he looked around the kitchen, seemingly searching for something.

His eyes turned back to mine and he cleared his throat before speaking.

"Uh, hi. We didn't really get a chance to know ourselves. My mom told me about your..uh..condition?" He looked confused and flustered, his voice sounding raspy.

My heart rate was beginning to slow down. I almost laughed from the look on his face but I was still slightly on edge. I avoided eye contact and nodded, fondling with my fingers.

"I-I should go." I managed to stutter out. I started making my way out of the kitchen.

"No, no. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to upset you. Please. Just sit down. I just wanna talk." He quickly rushed out.

I turned to find him pulling out a chair and carrying it to the other side of the room. He turned to face me and gave me a small smile.

"You can sit there " He said, to pointing to the chair beside me. "and I'll seat here. We can just talk. Is that okay?" He asked, eyes looking at me with intensity.

I turned my attention to the ground, feeling very uncomfortable under his gaze. His British accent just made his voice sound better . Although it wasn't as strong as his mother's.

"I-I don't know I-if I can." I stuttered, still not looking at his chocolate brown eyes. By now i felt like my heart was about to beat out of my chest. My face grew hotter and I felt the urge to throw up.

"Oh, you don't wanna talk. How about we just text, I'll call out my phone number for you and we can just sit here and text instead of talking. Sound good?"

I thought it over. I won't have to stutter my way through a conversation and I won't have to look at him. And I can finally have a conversation with someone my age. Although not the normal way, it's still something.

I looked up at him, managing to give him a small smile, then took a seat at my side of the kitchen. I took my phone out of my back pocket, while waiting for him to call out his number. I heard shuffling from his side but didn't look up to see what he was doing.

Soon enough he called out his number and I saved it on my phone. I took a deep breath, trying to calm my racing heart.

'Here goes nothing ' I thought.

I typed a message and sent it to him

"Hi"

I wasn't very proud of it but it was something at least.

"Lol. Hey. How old are you?" He sent back

"17, almost 18. You??"

"I turned eighteen last month."

After that we just kept asking basic questions. That is, until he started being utterly ridiculous.

"Do you secretly want wish Santa was real?" He had asked.

I tried to stifle a laugh at the ridiculous question, but little giggles came out anyway .

I looked up from my phone for the first time since we started texting to find him already staring at me. My cheeks heated and I turned back to my phone.

"C'mon. Of course I do. Who doesn't want a big fat man dumping presents down their chimney?." I sent to him.

"People that doesn't like 'big fat men' sneaking around their houses at midnight."

He sent back with an emoji that looked like it was rolling its eyes.

Before I could reply he sent me another text

"Can I ask you a really important question?"

"Sure" I replied.

I was really curious about what he was going to ask.

Immediately my phone lit up, I opened the text

"Do you think male turkeys look at female turkeys and think 'Damn! I'd like to ruffle those feathers."

I couldn't help but let out a hyena like laughter.

My body vibratedvas I laughed. As tears fell out of my eyes I willed myself to stop laughing.

"Oh man. Is that what you tell girls you have a crush on? That you want to ruffle their feathers?" I asked, turning to look at him,

There was a huge grin on his face. I scrunched my fave up in confusion until it hit me. I didn't text. He actually ,for a second there, made me forget my social anxiety. I gave him a grateful smile.

"Yeah, yeah. I know. I'm awesome." He joked with a loop sided grin, making me chuckle and roll my eyes.

My eyes widened when I heard my mom's voice behind me.

"Gianna, Asher. What are you guys doing here. It's midnight already. Your laughter woke me up."

I stood up, smiling sheepishly as I turned to face her. I expected to be met with an angry face but instead, there was a soft smile on her lips.

She gave me a look and I immediately knew she would wanna talk about it in the morning. I groaned internally.

"I'm sorry ma'am. We were just talking and didn't realize it was so late. I apologize for waking you up. I'll head to bed now. Goodnight." He said in the most charming voice I've ever heard.

I tried not to smile. His British accent sent chills round my body.

"Goodnight dear." Mom said to him, her lips spreading into a wide grin. He smiled at us before walking upstairs.

When he was out of sight mom gave me a full blown grin.

"We're totally talking about this tomorrow. Now go to bed." She said, kissing my forehead before heading upstairs. I shook my head at her animated behavior.

I walked to my room with a smile on my face. Lying on my bed, I sighed, glad to have talked with someone my age.

I couldn't remember the last time I did that. As I replayed everything that happened, my phone lit up, indicating I got a text. I smiled to myself when Asher's name appeared on my screen.

"Hey, my name's Microsoft. Can I crash at your place tonight??" He sent

I had to hold my hand to stifle my laugh at his ridiculous pick up line. I didn't want mom marching in my room.

"You're already at my house, dummy." I sent back.

I waited for him to text back but when I got nothing after ten minutes, I decided to go to sleep.

My eyelids felt heavy as I lay my head on my pillow. As I was about to sink into a deep slumber, my phone lit up.

I managed to direct my eyes to my phone.

My lips curved into a smile as I read the text sent by Asher.

"Goodnight "

I fell asleep soon enough. Thinking of a brown haired boy with glowing chocolate brown eyes smiling at me.
