Chapter 17: Formal Training
Klaust returned to his sense quickly . He tried to remember the warm current he felt when he eat the fruit. He thought about something and realized maybe those warm current was the thing called Qi describe on the battle technique Libra Scale. He tried to remembered the feeling he got before and realized that he also feel the same feeling when he entered meditation after practicing those strange motion depicted inside the parchment. All this time he thought that it was some kind of effect after practicing and never thought that it was actually Qi. If he could direct the Qi all this time maybe he could entered Lvl 2 fighter or at least he could get entered the blue flame state just a bit lacking from purple flame state. But it can't really be helped because even though he had all kind of information provide to him but without a proper guiding he could only thought about it himself and slowly probed it.
In fact he could be said to be lucky this time around, if not because he ignited his shrine burning point using the fruit he wouldn't be able to ignite it at all even if he amassed a good amount of Qi inside his body, because to ignite it not only he need the Qi he also need the knowhow for igniting burning point. In his book it only mention about igniting it and never mention about cyan, blue, and purple state. He got lucky that the energy inside the fruit was enough to bulldoze it way to ignite the shrine.
According to his memory the only thing he need to do was to direct the Qi to his surging point and continued to swirled it around the burning point to achieved ignition. He checked the time and saw it was still 1 A.M in the morning so he continued by practicing the motion from the parchment and followed by entering the meditation state. Maybe because he was a genius but his Deep Sleep meditation even though he had not reached the third state of being aware of surrounding while meditating, he still manage to remain awaked and control his body. He started to direct the Qi produced by training to his second surging point. Thankfully after liting up his shrine point the next surging point could be viewed when he entered meditation. He manage to direct it properly and the shrine point entered the cyan state when he was done, he thought that the amount of Qi should be enough to at least entered the state between cyan and blue but somehow he couldn't turn it blue. He tried to remember when he ate the fruit but he couldn't get any clue and could only tossed the idea aside. He decided to continued his meditation while he was at it.
When he woke up he looked at the time, it was 5 A.M in the morning. He strecthed his body a little before he went out of the space and continued his usual routine. He went out with Nunally after he finished helping setting up the store. He went to the orphanage and left Nunally there to play with the ophanage kid. He talked for a while with Grandma Teresa before he went his way to Old Jack hut.
Over at Old Jack hut, he could see that the old hunter was sharpening his weapon in the yard. Different from last time the carcass was gone replaced with a lot of dried fur that was being hanged on the rack. Most of the bone had also been polished and shaped, some looked like dagger, javelin, even arrow tip. Of course it looked rather creepy seeing a lot of bones scattered around especially the splattered dried blood. Ignoring the place condition Klaust walked in casually before he stood before Ol'd Jack.
"Good Morning Old Jack"
Old Jack stopped sharpening the weapon and looked at Klaust, at first he looked casually before getting surprised.
"Lvl 1 Fighter?" Old Jack was confused even though he didn't show it. He planned to saw his progress before teaching the kid how to ignite his shrine point, but he didn't expect to saw the kid already done it without a guidance.
"Ah? Right. After training with the motion in the parchment i always have this warm feeling inside my body. At first i thought it was something bad so i meditated and tried to expel it. I expel it through the navel region because i feel it was my body instinct that told me what to do, but i didn't expect that i will ignite the shrine burning point this morning" Klaust explain fluidly without batting an eye. He already thought about what to answered this question. He can't tell Old Jack about the castle so he could only lie to him.
Old Jack was surprised hearing the anwered. He seems to be deep in thought before looking back at Klaust.
"It seems you are a talented one. I was planning to guide you about shrine point today but if you already ignite it then it was unnecessary for me to explain more. You could sense the next surging point right?" Old Jack praised Klaust a little. Klaust felt rather embarassed being praised for something that he got luckyly, so he could only grin foolishly while scratching his head. Ignoring Klaust expression, Old Jack then continued with his word.
"I take that as a yes. Well if you already know how to lit up your surging point lets just skip to the next phase. Those motion how may cycle you can do?"
"Ah yes. I can do about 4 - 5 cycle for now, for the second morion i can hold for almost 30 second"Good progress. Keep doing it until you can do 6 cycle and hold for at least a minute before reporting it to me. For now, what kind of battle technique you want to learn?"
"Yes sir. For the battle technique i have one left behind by my parent, but i can't understand it well"
"Hmm..? from your parents? Show me"
Klaust already prepared for this, long before this day he already bought a book and record down the battle technique inside. Actually battle technique as precious as this one was not distributed openly. Also most people wouldn't easily show their battle technique to other because it also recorded some weakness of it. But Klaust casually give the book to Old Jack, it was not because he didn't know about the so called rule but he simply trust him. Ever since he awakened to Lvl 1 Fighter he could sense some people strength along the way, he could sense those city guard was at least lvl 1-3 fighter. Even so when he look at Old Jack he couldn't sense his power at all, it means that Old Jack was far stronger than him so if he want to harm him there was nothing he could do.
Receiving the book from Klaust, Old Jack read it carefully. The more he read the more surprised he got, of course he didn't show it to Klaust. After 10 minutes reading, Old Jack gave the book back, before asking something.
"What is the name of the battle technique?" Old Jack realized the book was a copied version but he didn't asked about it and only asked about the technique name. There was a glimmer in his eyes as if he was expecting something.
"It was called Libra Scale Old Jack. Is something wrong with it?" Klaust didn't realize the shocked in Old Jack eyes. He thought that there was something wrong with it. Even thought he got it from his parents but if it got any problem then he need to check the other two technique he got.
"Of course not. It seems your parent love you a lot, among the battle technique i have seen yours is the strongest for the defense oriented one, not only that usually defense oriented technique has a little attack power while yours could be said to be at least above average. It can be use with almost all kind of weapon, but the most suitable one would be gauntlet or at least armored weapon. The troublesome one is the mastery, only one way to do it...." Old Jack said this while giving a little evil smile at the end. Klaust was relieved to hear that the technique was fine and actaually got praised a lot. He was confused about gauntlet and armored weapon because he never heard of it, at most he know about sword, axe, saber but he never heard gauntlet and armored weapon. Just when he thought about what kind of weapon is it, he saw the smile and shivered. He gulped before asking a question.
"*Gulp*... what is the way?" Klaust asked nervously.
"Of course, fight until you get used to it. What else could it be, but at your current stage it would be getting beaten up until you learned how to fight....Let's go to the backyard" Old Jack stood up while hinting Klaust to followed him. Klaust shivered unconsciously before following Old Jack while trying to cheer himself up by thinking that this was necesarry if he want to grow stronger.
At the backyard, there was a wide area covered with nothing only ground surrounded by fence made of bone that gave a terrifying, aura thankfully the bone fence was partially covered by fur almost halfway down so it reduced the spookiness a little. The fence only exist at the right and left side of the area while the farthest part was a big black wall towering upward. Klaust know that this was the city wall. At the side of the area near him there was a weapon rack filled with weapon made of bone, a big black cauldron with some trace of fire below it. The area with weapon rack and cauldron was just behind the backdoor of the hut.
Old Jack was standing on the wide area beckoning Klaust to come to him. Klaust breath heavily hardening his resolve then he walked toward Old Jack. The old hunter seeing this only gave a light smile.
"What are you so nervous about kid. I won't beat you up today, you need to learn those move inside the battle technique first, you also need to at least build your body before i started to beat you up if not even if i lowered my power to match yours you would get beaten too badly and it won't be a lesson and just end up as a beating" Klaust sigh lightly feeling somewhat relieved. Old jack then begin to teach Klaust about his battle technique, for someone who read it just once unexpectedly Old Jack could teach Klaust almost perfectly. From breathing, motion, angle, counter, step, all the difficulties was grasped almost perfectly as if Old Jack also learned this technique before. Of course Klaust immersed in his learning mode didn't think too much about it and just assumed that Old Jack was a talented at teaching. After the intensive learning Old Jack spar a little with Klaust so Klaust could incorporate the battle technique little by little until it became a second instinct.
Without him realizing it was already evening, so Old Jack stop his training. Old Jack seems satisfied with Klaust progress, even thought he was still a bit clumsy but at least he learn a little. Old Jack told him to wait in the frontyard for him before he entered the hut, not for long he came out bringing a leather bag and gave it to Klaust. Klaust received it and realized it was filled with meat, four people could ate meat everyday if they ate it sparringly for at last a week. Klaust was surprised and want to reject but Old Jack beat him to it.
"It was not for free kid. That Donder said that you worked for him tuesday and thursday. As for me, come here every Friday and weekend, Monday and wednesday will be your holiday, don't look for work because you also need to rest if you want to grow stronger. From tomorrow on before sparring session cut 2 beast carcass for me and you can bring back 1 Kg for each beast. Don't refuse it was a payment, beside you wont be able to grow stronger if you lack nutrition for your body. Now, go back home and rest. Tomorrow we will start at the same time as today" Old Jack then turned back to his hut and closed it.It seems he want to rest after a long day.
Klaust stood for a while in front of the place, before bowing deeply toward the hut without a word and left the place toward the orphanage.
