Chapter 80: Chapter 15 - Part 3

In the entryway, they could see no sign of the body. The wooden floorboards were thick with mud and dust, as though they hadn't been cleaned in some time. Surprisingly though – even though it almost certainly hadn't been tended to in days – the long log fire in the centre of the room still had the tiniest red embers glowing hot inside it.

"I heard she slipped tending the fire," Harkin said, his words muffled from behind his rag. "Can't say I see no old woman though."

Pash couldn't either, no matter how hard he searched. It was wooden floorboards all the way around the room until one made it to the centre. There, one would find a square of stone to house the fire. From the look about the place, the woman wasn't exactly poor.
