Chapter 6: Chapter 5: A Lead
"Artie!" Andrew knocked on the window of Artemis's car calling her.
Artemis exited her car in curiosity on why her partner seemed somewhat excited and determined.
"What?" she asked plainly. Her blunt response brought a frown to Andrew's face.
"I was investigating the scene and I found a clue!" he said as he handed her a sealed bag which contained an invitation card.
"Party at FM Club. Lot 4, Fiona Miles Street," Artemis read aloud enough for both her and her partner to hear.
"What if this was Abigail's and not the murderer's belonging?" Artemis asked.
"Look closely at the invitation," Andrew advised.
"Only for those with an FM Club membership card," she read aloud yet again.
"What if it was someone else's and not her's that she picked up from somewhere?" yet again Artemis asked, demanding a more logical response from her partner.
"Look, Artie, this guy's only proof that these two girls dead were murders were witnesses that didn't get to see his face. He's sadistic based on the way he murders and the things he does. He wants to play with the authorities. It's only logical that he would leave a clue on purpose," Andrew said.
"What if it's a trap like last time?" Artemis's voice cracked when she asked her partner this question, her mind reeling back to their most recent case that the International Detectives Association had made them solve in New York City.
The accident still made her throat raw and tears threaten to spill from her eyes.
"Trust me, Artemis. I'm not as careless as I was back then. We'll attend the party and see whether or not we find anyone suspicious okay?" Andrew assured as he engulfed the younger woman into a reassuring hug.
The younger woman hugged back, expecting the best to come from this single lead.
