Chapter 3: Chapter 3

Bitterly cold and frozen, I jumped on the front seat of the car and switched on the heater. I wondered how my father could handle that much of coldness. Not only today but never did I found my dad complaining about feeling cold or anything like that. His eyes kept on fixing the route while clenching his jaws with rage. I needed to think about something quickly and wisely.

"Dad," I uttered.

"Nina, please do not talk to me. You disappointed me!"

"I know. I'm sorry. It's just that you never give me free space. I want to have friends, I want to live my life."

"And I want to save you," he muttered

"what?"

He slammed on the brake and took a long breath. Okay; he was angry, like really irate. I badly messed up this time. Gazed in each other eyes, I could see annoyance and anger. He was speechless with fury. I knew him; he will not utter a word until he would not cool down. Shameful, I grabbed his hands and dropped my gaze.

"Nina" he finally spoke

"Daddy. I know I messed up, but I promise I will never do such a thing again,"

"My baby" He caressed my cheek.

"You hate me right!" I said with tears rolling in my eyes.

"What nonsense! I will never hate you. You are my daughter, and a father always forgives the mischief of his child."

"Really!" I smiled

"Pinky promise! Nina, I understand that you want to breathe, but this world is too cruel for a precious diamond like you."

"Oh, come on! Do not act like I'm a princess in distress."

"You are more than that" he darkened his eyebrow.

"Every child is like a shining diamond in front of their parent. That's what you want to say, right?" I laughed.

"If you say so," he beamed.

"Let's go home."

As he turned the engine on, a boom vibrated our eardrums. Astounded, I grasped my father's shirt and frozed with fear. Looking through the car's mirror, what I saw was beyond my expectation; on top of our car stood a colossal man. Half- naked, he scratched the car's roof with his long- pointed nails and gnashed his decayed tooth. Grinning; he stretched his body on the roof and peeked at me through the window. This creature could not be human. His eyes were those of demons; It was like charcoal replaced the iris and sclera of his eyes. All I could see was a soulless creature with never-ending darkness.

"Hello Nephel, Long time, huh!" he addressed father with his croaky voice.

"How did you find us?" Dad bawled out by locking the car.

"Dad, you know him?" I murmured.

"Oh! Forgiveness my highness," the creature mocked.

"What?"

"Listen to me, Nina" father grabbed my face.

"I will get down the car and distract him. Then I want you to run without looking back."

"Never dad!" I cried.

"Dad!" the creature laughed.

"How can a servant like Nephel be your dad, princess?!" he howled

"Who are you? What do you want?" I yelled with shaking hands.

Sweating drenched my body while my breath shortened. Feeling unsteady and paresthesia, my feet feeble. Hands over my chest and palpitated heart, a sudden sizzling sensation took control of my body. This must be a nightmare, I will wake up and everything will be back to normal.

"Nightmare, no, darling. Today I will kill you," The creature said by ripping the car's door.

"Dad" I yelled by burying my face in his chest.

"You will run. Okay," dad whispered in my ears.

"No," I dissolved into tears

Standing behind me, he pulled my hair and threw me on the street. He was not joking. This demon will kill both of us. Striding between us, father straighten out his leg by kicking his opponent on the stomach and quickly thrust an elbow into his face. It was like fighting against a rock. None of my father's attacked made a difference to the creature. Outraged. He bludgeoned my dad and struck his right elbow two times onto his cheekbones. This is the end; I convinced myself.

"Stop it" I screamed and rushed toward my bleeding father.

"You horse! You think you can beat a demon like me," the creature angered.

"Horse! What is happening here?!" I wailed.

"Oh! Nephel, you did not tell her the truth," The demon mocked.

"What truth," I asked.

"Let me finish this and I will tell you by slowly killing you princess!" he smirked

"No! Leave us alone. Do not touch my father!" I hugged my bleeding father tightly.

Whistling in the most annoyance way, the monster ambled toward us. He wanted us to fear him. Seeing terror sat on our face amused him. Who was he?. He knew my dad. Alarmed and dreaded, I strived to get my father back on his feet but crazily; he was not making any effort to escape. He stared at the demon without blinking; he was planning something; he wanted the demon to come to him.

"Dad!" I cried

"You will run. Okay," He muttered.

"Yes. Run, run away" said the beast sarcastically.

"And you burn in hell," My father yelled as he took out a black pouch out from his jeans. In a flash, he poured his hand in, got out a handful of ashes and bunged it on the beast face.

The devil fell on the ground, writhing in agony. Bawling. He crawled down and seized my ankle. Not because he wanted my help, but because he still wished to execute me. I did not know what was his problem but he surely had a big one.

"Run!" My father yelled by kicking the monster.

"Not without you," I insisted

"When elders speak, youngsters should listen," uttered a gruffer voice behind me.

Abruptly, I turned my back and sighted a very attracting man. He had those classy men hairstyle with a modern twist; wide comb marks and low faded. Sculpted face with high cheekbones, he beamed at me. I never saw such a handsome man before. He had those cashews nut-brown eyes. He was perfection.

"Who are you?" I asked.

"somnum" he pressed his finger on my forehead.

My body lost all of its nerves. Falling down the street, I heard voices without really understanding anything. The last thing I saw before darkness submerged me was disappearing in a cloud of black smoke.
