Chapter 18: Feelings Getting Stronger
"kakashi, hold on let me see that injured leg. I remember cutting it with my attack earlier" Erza said pushing the ninja causing him to sit on the ground. "It was just a small cut nothing to worry about" he stuttered "shh, don't be silly, you talk too much" she silenced him by putting a finger on his lips kakashi's face turned red with her actions. She placed her hands on top of the cut on his thighs then a bluish green magic circle appeared and healed the wound. "There good as new" she smiled "I'll stitch up your pants when we get home" then she stood up stretching a hand out to help the ninja up "You don't need to do that, thanks anyway" then they walked to catch up with the others. They walked alongside each other. Erza is sure in a happy mood. Kakashi can't help but glance at her in the corner of his eyes, his hands inside his pocket, unconsciously he moved closer to the girl and if his hands were out they'll be touching each other's hands. He can't seem to understand what he feels for her but it's too early to tell thinking to himself.
They reached the Ichiraku's. At front it is a normal ramen bar and inside is a yakiniku restaurant. The group sat in one of the long tables. Everyone is arguing who to sit beside the red head. She decide to sit in between Iruka and Yamato. They ordered and started grilling, the ramen was served. Everyone is enjoying the meal "Itadakimasu!!!" they said in chorus. The boys were helping Erza eat- they grill meat for her place it on her bowl. "You don't need to help me, I can do it myself" she told them. The two teachers did not listen they wanted to get noticed by her it seems like they have a silent contest to win her heart. kakashi was sitting across her. "Ahm, kakashi you take this" as she puts a piece of grilled beef on top of his rice bowl smiling at him. The ninja stares back at her with a blush as he takes what she gave her but the feeling - the jealousy of the two beside her boils inside him.
"Say Sasuke, that crest on your back, what do it mean?" she asked. "Why do you care?" He answered "I've seen it before I got here. I think it is linked with what had happened to me" she explained "It's the Uchiha clan's crest" the boy answered. "Uchiha, do you have the same eyes as kakashi?" she asked once more "Yes, it's our kekkei genkai and is exclusive to our clan" he explained Erza's eye widen in surprise of what she heard "Exclusive? then why Kakashi and I--" kakashi stood up reached for her and bent down to covered her mouth before she can continue."Erza, this is not the place to discuss this, we'll talk about it with the hokage tomorrow" Kakashi instructed. Everyone was puzzled with what happened. "Alright everyone listen, We'll all meet tomorrow morning at the hokage's office to discuss Erza's case and to find out how we can help her go back home, until then no one will talk about what you've seen in the training field today, all about her is extremely classified" He ordered them "okay" they answered in chorus. Erza was confused with all this but obeyed his wish. "For the time being let's all enjoy" Iruka said as they continue with the night.
"Hey wanna grab some desserts before we head home?" kakashi asked "I thought you do not like sweets?" Erza responded "Let's just say it is because you won our fight earlier" he tries to persuade her. She just nodded. kakashi grabbed her hand, their finger intertwined with each other's he blushes as he feels her hands against his, he liked it. He waits for a few seconds to see if she'll protest but the girl was just silent waiting for him to lead the way. He looked at her once more and she just looked back at him with a smile. He held her hands as they walk. They reached a shop with a sign that is in a form of a stick with white-colored dango run through it. The hiragana for dango is painted red the inside of the shop is simple with wooden tables, rectangular-shaped lights, and menus that hang all over the walls for customers to look at. kakashi ordered dango for them. The lady served some sweet made from glutinous rice flour served with tea. It has different colors and comes 4 dumplings on a stick. "Help yourself" kakashi offered. Erza smiled and took a sip from the tea and released a satisfying sigh. "I want to know about this guild that you mentioned, maybe it help us find out how to get you home"
Erza blinked at his request surprised at the question, she grinned and nod in excitement "My guild is called fairy tail, it is more of a family to me. I grew up as an orphan and had a terrible childhood but everything was changed when fairy tail took me in. Natsu and Gray are like my brothers although Gray is my best friend we practically do everything together. The guild itself is the one place you can go to and feel welcomed and loved. We all fight together, suffer together, cry together, laugh together, love together and protect each other. We are also known to be the strongest guild in our world" She felt so nostalgic telling the story and you can see the tenderness and gentleness on her face as she tells the story about her home "Natsu is like Naruto in a lot of ways" she giggled "Gray is like Sasuke but talks more than him and Gray is someone who always come to my rescue whether it is in a battle with an enemy or my personal demons" Her face was full of affection when she mentioned that name "Sakura is like Juvia who is always in love with Gray and will do anything to have his attention" she added with a smile and told him of a few stories of their missions. kakashi listened intently to her words and told her about Konoha in return. They headed home after eating and paid off. The streets were already dark when they walk back kakashi's place. He again held her hands as if it was something normal. Erza didn't mind. The man kept glancing at her from time to time in the corner of his eyes. The moonlight was bright enough to highlight the girl's beauty and he just can't get enough of her. They reached the apartment and she yawned at the day's exhaustion and looked at him "Goodnight Kakashi, thanks for today, it really meant a lot to me" "You're welcome, I enjoyed spending time with you, good night Erza" and he went inside his room.
kakashi can't seem to find his sleep. He can smell Erza on the sheets, a faint smell of sweet strawberry mixed with vanilla. She just slept one night and yet her smell stuck on it but he wanted it. He was lying on the bed and placed his hands behind his head staring at the ceiling. He sighed and was thinking about who was Gray in her life. He really is confused with his feelings, why does he get jealous of every man that goes near her and even the story about her closeness to this boy at home as if he wanted all of her to himself alone. "Am I in love?" he asked himself. He tried to clear his head and drifted off to sleep having the picture of Erza in his mind.
