After regaining his strength, Xiao Lin could have used his power on dodging with Phantom Steps, and he would at least have been able to avoid most of the damage, but he did not do so.

Dodging pointlessly might be able to make the battle last a little longer, but it was pointless. He needed to delay it for an hour, not just a few minutes.

So compared to defending, counterattacking was more effective.
