Ever since I was born I'm meant to be the heir of the Rodriguez Corporation. I've always been told to do this, do that, do everything that they say. They wanted me to be perfect, there's no room for mistakes.

But, here I am serving people their foods left and right.
"ALYX TABLE #3!"
This is my life now. Ever since I told them that I don't want to take over the company they hated me. And that's when I realize money is much more important than family to them.

"Alyx wake up, wake up!"
My brother shouted. He always does this every morning. I look at the clock and saw that it's only 6:30 am. Wait. Wait. What?! It's only 6:30!
"What the hell do you want Maxx?! Do you know it's still so early to be awake?!"
My goodness. They know sleep is important to me.
"Well, my dearest sister...HAPPY 22nd BIRTHDAY! And do you know what that means?"
Fuck it's my birthday? I look at my phone which is on top of my bedside table. And check the date. 'April 28' It really is my birthday today. And today is the day I would take over the company. But I don't want to.
It's my birthday I should be happy. But look at me. I'm so nervous. What will I tell my parents? Will they get angry at me? Will they even see me as their child. Well as far as I know they'll probably kill me. This is something they planned as soon as I was born.
"No, I don't. So please get out."
"But...but..."
"No, get out. NOW!" Harsh I know but that's how we are.
I got up from my comfy bed and walk to my bathroom, wishing that cold water can wake me up from this nightmare. Don't get me wrong I love my parents really, but I think that this company they love so much is really not for me.
After I took a bath I quickly get dressed.
After putting on my make-up which is only a very light make-up, since I don't like caking my face so much. I immediately go down, grab a banana, and get out of the house to our garage to get my car. Our family doesn't eat breakfast together since everyone is so busy. My brother is in his first year at college, my sister is finishing college, and my parents are at work. So there is no time for a so-called family bonding.
I immediately start my car and race through the streets when I realize that it's already 7:30 and my work starts at 8:00. My father insists that I work at the company after graduating from college, for me to know what I should do when my father turns it over to me. I walked inside the familiar tall building. Everyone greeted me, and I returned it with a simple nod.
My father's number one rule:
Never to smile at your employees, be intimidating. It's one of his tricks to immediately get what he wants.
We were raised to be like this. Never to show pity, or you'll lose in this harsh world. You have to be strong or you'll be nothing but an irritating gum at someone else's shoes.
I immediately walked to the private elevator and pressed 35. This building has 40 floors. And the last floor is only for the owner, which is my father, and an office for his secretary. I was the only one in this elevator since the only people that can use this are my family and my father's clients.
When the elevator opened I was greeted by a mess. Everyone is walking in every direction. I stayed still, not moving an inch. I wonder what's the occasion. This floor is always silent. Except when something big is going on, like the time the president of the country visited this company, unannounced. Now that situation was a pain in the ass. Everyone is so busy trying to finish their work. Everyone is so stressed that day.
I was still deep in my thoughts when suddenly one of them recognizes me. They immediately stop what they are doing and greeted me. And as usual, I only nod at them. I walked into my office, which is big for no particular reason, but I like it so, I'm not complaining.
I immediately got to work when suddenly Valerie, my secretary comes in.
"Ms. Rodriguez, you have a meeting with the board at 10 o'clock. And your lunch reservation at Rich Red Table is already scheduled."
"Okay good, you may go now."
She immediately got out. And I continued my work. I was so focused on my work that I forgot the time. When I look at the clock it's already 9:50.
Shit. Shit. Stupid Alyx. Fuck. I have to go now.
I immediately got my laptop and walked outside. I saw my secretary waiting for me outside my office. We head to the elevator, pressing 27. All of the conference rooms are there and there are exactly 5 conference rooms.
When the elevator opened, we immediately got out and head to the right conference room. Pushing the door open I saw that everyone is already there, waiting for me. I gave a polite nod to my father, in which I got a cold hard stare from him for being late. I sat down, and the meeting started.
