"I would like to be called Yungwahnee."

"Yungwahnee?!" Baba exclaimed. "That is not a name, that is a description."

"Your first mother is correct," Father-Nile stated.

"You wouldn't be able to serve on the Council with everyone still referring to you as Young One-"

"Not Young One. Yungwahnee. And I already explained that I will be an anthropologist."

Baba made a discouraging sound. "Look how she speaks to us. Already she acts like her brother-"

"I don't want to be Bilal. I want to be Centaurian." Yungwahnee looked at her parents. Baba relaxed, but the young Centaurian continued. "But I do not want to be like you either. I do not intend to serve on the Council or to create laws that mollify the humans."

Mina gave her daughter a worried look. "Mollify? What are you saying?"
