Chapter 42: The Man Beside Officer Zhou Ming

Yu Feng was hiding behind a wall to scan at her surroundings when she heard footsteps walking towards her hiding position. Instinctively, she pulled back and stuck her body close to the wall. Yu Feng bit at her lips and controlled her breathing. Her ears perked up to listen to what was going on around her.

There were five people in that group. Officer Zhou Ming was leading the team as they were heading towards a destination. Her gaze shifted towards the person beside Officer Zhou Ming and her eyes widened.

That man… She had seen him earlier in another part of the western district. At that time, he was with another group of men and he had watched as his friend slashed his sword on a man's throat with unblinking eyes.

He was one of the murderers and one of those who wanted to harm the Emperor.

But... why was he with Officer Zhou Ming?

A deep frown appeared on her face. Her hands were trembling and Yu Feng balled them into fists to suppress her emotion.

Her ears picked up a few words that the group was discussing. They seemed to be talking about a dead body found at the riverside and Yu Feng had a hunched that the dead man was the same man that she had witnessed how he was murdered earlier.

Suddenly, Yu Feng was at loss at what she should do.

She was so happy that she had run into Officer Zhou Ming. She had thought that she had found her hope and she the heavy burden she was carrying would dissipate the moment she relayed everything to that officer.

The Emperor's life would be saved as well as the thousands of people gathered at the city center.

But... who would have thought that one of the murderers was walking side by side with Officer Zhou Ming?

At this time, if she came out and met with Officer Zhou Ming, then perhaps both of them might not leave this place alive. After all, Yu Feng was not sure just how many of them were on the same side as the murderer.
