Chapter 62: Atlantis (7)

In the comics, Aquaman and the others left this place without finding the scepter. But later Black Manta, the greatest treasure hunter and the eternal enemy of Aquaman did.
He had snatched 2 of the treasures from the Others and activated them, triangulating the location of any nearby nth metal artifact and finding the hidden Dead King's scepter in these ruins.
"It's sad that we don't have any Gold of Legacy left now, and even if we did have them, the last one to have the knowledge of how to make these kinds of weapons both the Dead king and the alchemist, are gone.", Atlanna says while looking at all these weapons.
"They are not gone, at least The Dead king, Atlan is still alive."
"What? You are telling me the Dead king is still not dead? … How? Is he here ?" Atlanna shouts shocked and alarmed and then looks around to see if someone was hiding near them.
"Well, he is not here, after he sunk the Atlantis and kept these weapons here, he went to a place where he could sleep peacefully, so he is in a mystical slumber right now." Not just that, he even has an exact replica of this scepter with him along with a very powerful shield. I will have to pay him a visit and make him a real Dead king some time soon.
Getting out of my thoughts I proceed to store all the Treasures except the globe which was in my hand, the Trident which was still in Atlanna's hand, and the scepter which I was holding.
"Atlanna baby, the place I am going right now is a bit dangerous, so I would like to send you back to the hotel, ok … You can watch some tv until I am back." I tried to tell her sweetly while rubbing her blonde head.
But she started shaking her head like a rattle-drum "No, there is no way I can let you go to any kind of dangerous place alone, I am going with you and that's final." She even banged both the tridents on the ground to show that she won't discuss it any further.
At Least I tried, I will just have to be more careful then.
I asked for the trident as I wanted to put it back in the storage and she just gave me her silver one and even gripped the golden one tightly so I don't snatch it from her. Sometimes she can be so childish and overbearing but that's exactly what you would expect from a princess.
I held her tight and activated the globe. A golden light erupts from the globe and encompasses both of us and then we find ourselves to be in the sky above the clouds. She asked me why I teleported here, but I just closed my eyes and made sure that my body is overflowing with solar power.
Then I activated the globe again, and this time we were above the ocean.
"Where are we now?"
"Somewhere near Sicily, Italy. We are above the Kingdom of Trench."
Atlanna looks at me in shock, "The Trench? one of the surviving kingdoms of Atlantis ... I heard that it's population changed to mindless vicious monsters."
"You will meet them soon." I activate the dead king's scepter in my hand.
From above water, we saw a wave of black coming from the deep sea and in a few seconds the whole water had gone black, but if you see them closely you can tell that they were the grey scaled monsters called Trench.
They looked exactly like deep-sea monsters with grey skin, razor-sharp teeth, and needlepoint nails, their appearance was like a vicious angler fish. The total number of them was astounding.
"How many of them are there! The whole ocean seems to be filled with them, I can't even see any kind of gaps within them, it's all just black." She said while looking down and tightening her grip on both the golden Trident and me.
Even I was stunned by the sheer quantity of them. Still, I doubt that they could injure me even if all of them came at once. "We will be fine, don't worry", I tell her and proceed to go near the water, while keeping the scepter active which just made it glow golden without doing anything.
They automatically made way for us, but I could still see them growling at each other, at me, and especially at Atlanna. She was hugging my hands very tight and pasting her whole body on me, I could tell she was very nervous and battle-ready.
Their growls were most probably their alternate language, I tried to read their thoughts and all I could get was 'Food', 'Hungry', and 'King'.
I kept going on the path they had made deeper into the ocean. We reached the ocean floor and went into a huge crack. There was only a small amount of Trench here.
As we dove further, two huge trenches came in front of us. Both of them were glowing a bit, and had red eyes, one of them was a pale white trench and another a black trench both were almost triple the size of a normal trench.
They both came in front of me and bowed awkwardly, and then they growled at me one by one. I could read their thoughts and understand that they were welcoming me, their King. The white one was the trench king and the black one was the queen and then asked if I had any commands.
I tried to communicate with them via thoughts and tell them that they can go now, I will call them when they are needed. They bowed awkwardly again growled at Atlanna a bit and then went away.
We kept swimming underground until we came across a whirlpool of some kind that had no trenches anywhere near it. I knew this was the portal I was searching for.
I looked at Atlanna and she looked at me and then we both looked ahead and entered the whirlpool hand in hand.

"Are you sure? we can try one and if they taste good and are eatable then we would probably be able to solve the problem of world hunger." lol!
