Chapter 24: 24. Challenging Ouyang Bo, it's training montage time
As Yin entered the arena and browsed the challenge list she noticed that the 1st place, Ouyang Bo, was looking for a challenge. She immediately issued a 1000 merit stake challenge. 5 second later she was in the arena, facing an almost teo metres tall black haired man that was wielding a saber.
- Indeed the top prodigy of third year. I hope you give me a decent battle -
He said before dashing with a strike of his saber. Yin immediately parried, then exchanged another twenty strikes with him before disengaging. Neither of the two were in good state, with Yin sporting a long cut alongside her arm and Ouyang Bo having a large slash across his chest and multiple smaller wounds.
- Hah, you really are the strongest student I've faced so far! But no matter what you won't be able to win! Thunder's Descent!
With a shout Ouyang Bo dashed with a thrust of his saber, that was suddenly enveloped by arcs of lightning. Yin wasn't idle either, quickly adapting the posture for quick draw, before shouting - Iai! - as she clashed with Ouyang Bo. Three second later he burst into light nodes as Yin stood in the arena, a shallow cut next to her neck artery.
Long Yin loaded into the lobby, facing a smiling Ouyang Bo that looked like he was absolutely bursting with joy. Seeing her he immediately jumped at her and hugged her shouting:
- I got it, I got it! Thank you, Long Yin, you helped me break my bottleneck blocking me from Golden Core, that I originally estimated I'd need at least two years to overcome! The first place is yours, if you need any help in the future just ask. I'll be going into seclusion to break through to Golden Core Realm.
Long Yin went back to the Main Pavillon to exchange her merits. She recieved the spiritual crystal, filled her Golden Core Room access to 5 months, then bought Qi Attracting Liquid and Golden Essence Extract that would help her with breaking through to Golden Core Realm. She then exited the VR and headed to her room to prepare for her seclusion.
Meanwhile the whole #1 High was in an uproar.
- Have you heard? The first ranked third Year, Long Yin challenged number one ranked student Ouyag Bo and won!
- Are you kidding?
- I'm not. Senior Ouyang even praised her and announced he won't be trying to get his rank back, as he's preparing to break theough to Golden Core!
- A Golden Core?! Amazing, truly a school for geniuses. With Golden Core Senior Ouyang is guaranteed to get into a good university, he even has a chance to enter a Galactic Univeristy.
Even the teachers were excited.
- Blessed, we're truly blessed. Two Golden Core Geniuses in a decade, our school is going to be famous!
As the rumours made their way around the school class 3-E felt like a fire lit under their asses. With such outstanding person in class weren't they all going to look like a bunch of idiots during the competition? They immediately started trying harder when cultivating, with many breaking through under the pressure.
And so everyone immersed in cultivation. After one month Long Yin finally reached the peak of Stage Ten and found a secluded open-air location for her breakthrough. She sat down on a hill a few hundred metres away from school, then proceeded to swallow Golden Essence Extract. She immediately felt an invisible break as her Body and Qi energies rushed inside her Dantian, slowly forming an Inner and Outer Core. Outer Core was a product of Qi cultivation, while Inner Core was a result of reaching Peak of Core Formation in Body Tampering. With the formation of the dual core, also known as Dragon Core, from now on Long Yin would cultivate both arts simultaneously all the way until peak of Mortal Transcendence.
After Long Yin's cores solidified, the Tribulation finally arrived. This time the clouds were 5 kilometres in diameter. Long Yin focused, preparing to use the energy of the Tribulation to boost her cultivation and refine her body. Soon, 9 bolts of thunder struck her down, and she groaned ehile using their energy to cleanse the remaining impurities from consuming medicines and cultivation supplements from her body. Soon, another nine bolts arrived, striking her as she focused on using them to refine and boost her cultivation. Finally the final wave arrived, with another nine bolts arriving, half of the energy boosting her cultivation, another half smiting her core, making it truly indestructible. As the clouds dispersed Long Yin finished refining the Tribulation Energy and Golden Essence Extract leftover medicinal properties, which directly boosted her cultivation base to Second Stage Peak of Golden Core. Afterwards she once again returned to seclusion in Golden Core Room, only taking a small detour to order some more Golden Essence Extract.
Her purchase didn't go unnoticed though, as the whole school once again felt pressured with birth of another Golden Core student. Immediately class 3-E went into cultivation frenzy, challeging for merits, climbing the Trial Tower and doing tasks.
And so in the blink of an eye five months passed and the date of Top 10 high school tournament came.
In those five months it was like the whole school transformed. Core Formation First years were no longer a rare sight and the whole class 3-E became an imposing sight.
Inside her cultivation chamber Long Yin opened her eyes, a powerful fluctuation of her cultivation base spreading around. It was time for her to join the gathering near the bus that would take them to the competition venue.
As she neared the bus stop everyone turned to look at her, with many having to collect their jaws from the floor or checking whether they are dreaming, as the clear fluctuations of fresh breakthrough to Golden Core Fifth Stage spread around her.
Looking at Long Yin students of class 3-E had the urge to curse. It was bad enough with monstrous geniuses like Long Tian, Fatty Hao and Rou You, who all managed to reach Core Formation Seventh Stage Peak while everyone else was at the Fifth or Sixth Stage. No, that wasn't enough of trampling their confidence, they had to have Long Yin in the class who was a whole Realm higher than them!
After waking up from their shock, the class and teachers, numbed by the shocks of last months, just packed into the bus. As she heard the engine starting Long Yin slowly dozed off on her seat.
