She is now Chris' wife, does she need to call Tom brother-in-law?

Tom glanced at Merry dimly, and ignored her.

She wanted to call him brother-in-law? That's not gonna happen!

"Tom, call her sister-in-law!"

Tom moved the corners of his mouth and asked boldly, "Chris, from a seniority standpoint, she should have called me uncle!"

Chris quietly picked up a beer. Tom shivered when he saw this, afraid of having to take the bottle on his head. He then immediately faced Merry, "Hello my sister-in-law!"

Chris nodded in satisfaction, and took the bottle to fill Alex's glass with wine.
