I did not know what to do.
We ended up sitting to close to the battle. There were a lot more demons than I had expected, and the people were struggling to keep them away.
If I moved closer to the city itself, then there was a chance that we would get spotted. Obviously, the people who were here to prevent that demons entered Atlantis had their ways to see trough illusions so that was not an option.
"You four should go back without me. Actually, you should have never been here in the first place."
"Hold on kid, are you saying that we have to leave you here? if you're staying then I am also not leaving."
"I must agree with him master," Noah said. "If you stay behind, then so will I. "
Beatrice's expression darkened upon hearing Noah's reaction. "How dare you go against the will of our lord. You should trust him more. I doubt if you are even worthy of standing by his side like this."
"Rubedo please. Just let me stay with you or come with us." Leonor said, clearly worried about what might happen to me if I was alone this close to the battle.
"Could you all please shut up and go already! Don't you understand? I am not going to die, and I am not going to sacrifice myself. I am simply saying that this isn't safe for you, and I can't go with you. Because I am a four-meter tall, blood red demon that is obviously going to stick out when you are trying to get back safe."
The dwarf grabbed my arm. "Then how about this? If someone sees you here alone, they have no reason not to shoot you since they are not putting any civilian lives at risk. You are in their eyes just another treat that must be eliminated. You are throwing away your only shield when they point their spears at you."
I engulfed my arm in flames and the dwarf retracted his hand in reflex.
I may or may not have burned his hand, but I did not have the time to check.
"Alright this is the last time I ask. You either go now on your own accord or I will hunt you down myself. and I am pretty sure that you can't run as fast as I can fly."
I spread out my wings which stopped the last hints of light from coming trough the gaping hole in the roof. The last sources of light were my glowing eyes and the small sparks of fire that could be seen in the back of my throat.
Beatrice picked up Quetzalcoatl. The bird had of course no idea of what was going on and was already in shock due to the giant that had ripped off the roof. It flapped its flightless wings in pure panic but could only surrender to Beatrice's grasp. she carefully climbed out of the building.
"Please my lord, take care."
After she left, I turned to those who were still here. "Go now or there won't even be ashes left of you!"
I set the entire room on fire tough I made sure that none of the flames would touch them.
They realised now that I was not kidding. And each of them turned away to leave. Even the dwarf showed a brief hint of fear.
I found that this was worrying. Even when he got me mad and I threatened to bite off his arm, he was calm. He knew that I would not do that no matter what he did. But then why was he afraid now?
I also climbed out of the destroyed building. Tough it was only to see if they could all make it out safely.
Seeing that they are indeed all managed to leave I intended to return to where we were hiding.
But then I got a glimpse of what was going on at the battlefield.
There were more and more demons coming through the broken gate. They jumped or flew over the holy water and slaughtered in delight as soon as they reached the ones that defended Atlantis. With the totems now destroyed if they were even used at all. They could completely focus on the people.
Most of the fuel of the spears had already been used to take down the titan and they had already lost many troops. Depending on how many demons would show up later, they might lose.
I never intended to join the battle. Tough I might have wanted to back when I cared more about people.
But now I figured that it might be a good time to join this festival of blood. If this army would be defeated, then those I cared about would no longer have a safe place to live. If they even survived at all. And even if it did not work. I could always try to get my father out of there.
I flew off and slammed myself at a lamia-like demon that was trying to strangle a human. Holding the demon in my claws, I flew up again and made us drop to the ground.
After most of its bones were crushed, I completely ripped the neck and chest of the creature apart.
After this I made stone spikes rise up from the ground. Ripping red from the blood of those who had already fallen.
I shot the spikes away. Each of them impaled the head of another demon. Even if they were not immediately killed by this, they would become an easier target. Like this a made my way trough the battlefield.
I have a lot to do at the moment. So, I am afraid that I can’t publish new chapters for a few days.
