Chapter 3: Disbelief
I wake up in a bright blue and burnt orange room. I try to sit up and vertigo over takes me, I feel gentle hands swoop under my head and on my lower back and delicately lay me on my back, the person finally speaks
"Easy now love,you've been out for about a day."
I knew that voice, my head starts swimming and I feel like I could puke. There are so many questions I have...
"Where am I? Why did you bring me here? I feel odd, like I could burst and burn everything, what's wrong with me? Did I hurt anyone?....." I start to ask more questions and he chuckles,
"Whoa, calm down Keegan. You're safe, you're in my apartment, I brought you here because it's safer for you to be with me than anyone else right now, well other than your friend. I don't know how you have that gift but it's truly remarkable. There isn't anything wrong with you sweetheart, you're just special. Really, really special. I've never heard of someone with the gift of fire. And no,you didn't hurt anyone"..... he chuckled with dark humor
"You did kind of burn down half of the senior wing of the high school though. It's been quite an effort to hide the fact that you burst into a living,walking flame and set metal on fire." He smiles apologetically at me.
I look at him and start to cry.
He just sits there,holding my hand in complete silence. Soon, I feel my eyes start to get heavy and drift off to sleep with the thought of how nice it felt to have Nate hold my hand and rescue me from myself.
