Missing Time

Kennrick sat on a public bench which was in front of the comic book store engaged in his cellphone, playing Grand Take Auto. When he saw his friend Luke approaching, he paused it and gave a manly wave at his best buddy. Luke sat beside him, started with the formalities before asking the 'million dollar questions.'

Luke began to explain to Kennrick that a day was missing but Kennrick just laughed at the story and the imagination of his friend. Such a thing was not possible and he remembers everything that took place yesterday. Kennrick stated that you, Luke was extremely tired yesterday and perhaps you have forgotten.

In the end, Luke realized that it was of no use because it was clear that all the things that happened the day before, is what is fixed in the mind of his friend, as to what took place yesterday.

When he asked Kennrick what he thought happened Wednesday, Kennrick thought for a second and then with a laugh said that "he really could not remember which was believable because some people cannot even remember what they had for breakfast yesterday."

Giving up, Luke looked at the time on his watch which showed two minutes to nine in the am. Class was about to start so he mentioned to Kennrick that they should head to class. They both got up and then started heading in the direction of the school which was around the corner from their location.

Luke paused for a minute to look at the comic that was displayed at the front of the comic book store as Kennrick had continued walking.

It's silver cover with a superhero, dressed in gold was pasted on the front cover of the comic visually appealing comic book.

'The adventures of Quick Man.' The fastest hero alive. Able to run great distances in a short space of time.

Time, Luke joked. Ironically, that time is what is currently on his mind right now he thought.

'Missing time!'

Luke's thoughts were disturbed when his friend, from a distance, discreetly called out to him. Luke looked up to see Kennrick motioning him to look across the street.

Luke turned to see Melinda walking across the street, eating an ice-cream. She seemed very engrossed in the ice cream that she was eating. Perhaps it was a unique flavor, Luke thought to himself.

Melinda was a brilliant student and classmate whom Luke had taken interest in. Her short red hair always rested on her shoulders as if it never grew.

She kept to herself mostly which gave Luke every opportunity to talk to her but he was never able to muster the courage to speak to her.

He showed Kennrick a double thumbs up for signaling him and Kennrick smiled as he began to continue walking.

Turning his attention back towards Kennrick, Luke began to hasten his steps to catch up to Kennrick when suddenly there was a loud explosion. A truck that was passing by had blown a tire and the driver now swerved in the direction of Kennrick who stood frozen on the pavement, like a deer in headlights.

Unable to move due to sheer shock, Kennrick said to himself that this was definitely the end. With the truck weighing in at 2, 810 pounds, he was definitely outweighed and outclassed for this turn of events.

The Quick Man is reference to everyone's favorite DC superhero speedster. Would not name due to copyright infringements that may or may not take place.

The million dollar question in this case is what transpired yesterday in the story.

Grand Take Auto is reference to a real life 'hit' game named Grand Theft Auto.
