Chapter 18: Practicing
Ariana (POV)
After three months
I am in the school playground with Lisa, Rain, Jonah, and Ace. Those two months went by studying hard and the weekend was also occupied with the study. I didn't go to the Amusement park till now since I asked Rain to book tickets. Days are boring since I came to the senior class. We are walking in the hall when we noticed several students were near the notice board.
"Why there's rushed near the notice board?" Lisa was the first to ask.
"Let's go and look" Rain stated and we nodded. We pushed some students to reach near notice board and when we reached near there was a pamphlet attached to it and Jonah decided to read aloud.
"Sports competition is starting this week. You can enroll your names to the gym teacher. Winners will be awarded by medals."
"Finally, those boring days are over and I will participate in the running competition" I announced with a big grin.
"Boring, I won't participate in this" Jonah argued making me huff.
"You are telling boring because you are not good at sports" I stated and he looked at me with wide eyes.
"Don't look at me like that because I am not scared of you and I said it correct"
"Okay, you win" he gave up because I was correct.
"Guys there is one more notice and it's said every competition is going to be held this week" Rain announced with an exciting look.
"Singing competition is on Thursday" Rain continued.
"When is Painting competition?" I asked.
"It is on Friday" Ace replied instead of Rain.
"When is running competition?" I asked again.
"It's Tuesday that is tomorrow" Lisa replied.
Then for me, tomorrow is the running competition, on Thursday singing, and Friday painting. I only don't have time for running competitions.
"Lisa, in which competition are you taking part?" I asked.
"Hm...I'm not good at painting, I am not even good at sports but I think I can take part in dance competition" she replied after thinking.
"When is dance Competition," I asked her.
"Let me see...hmm...it's on Wednesday" she replied after seeing in the poster.
"Best of luck prepare hard"
"Rain, What about you?" I asked but I know about him. He will say singing and painting since he is good at those.
"I think you know me" he replied and a smile spread to my lips. But I don't know about Jonah. Should I ask him? After a few minutes, I decided to ask.
"Jonah? What about you?" I asked.
"Singing and painting" he replied. I know that he is good at painting but I don't know about his singing. I also know that he is a good dancer.
"And what about dance, you are an amazing dancer you even taught me to dance for Lisa birthday party?" I asked and all eyes were upon me. I forgot about my lie. My stupid brain one day will kill me.
"What?" Lisa and Rain yelled in unison.
"We thought you know dance" they both replied again in unison and they are looking at each other saying don't repeat the same words.
"I lied. I didn't know the dance. Jonah taught me on Sunday" I sincerely replied with a sheepish grin.
"How could you lie, Aari?" Lisa was accused of a fake hurt and I know her very well she will never be mad at me.
"Sorry guys" I apologized.
"I will forgive you if you take part in a dance competition," she said and my jaw drops before I decided to talk.
"I am not perfect in it and after all, there is no time and I am already taking part in running, singing, and painting competition please forgive me for this time. I will treat you something" I said in one breathe.
"Let her choose the competition. It's her choice" this time it was Jonah who spoke. I feel so good now at least he is on my side.
"Okay, but still you are going to treat us," Lisa said with a pointed look. I forgot that Ace is also standing with us and I didn't ask him about his competition. He is silent all the while. Maybe I didn't ask him that's why he stood silently all the while.
"Ace, in which competition you are taking part in?" I asked and his face lit up. I think I was correct he was waiting for someone to ask.
"I am good at basketball" he replied with enthusiasm.
"When it is?" I asked.
"It's on Friday" he replied.
"That means basketball and painting competition is on the same day" I stated.
"Let's see the time," I said and we all looked at the poster.
Painting is on Friday at 11:00 A.M that is after lunch and basketball is at 15:00 P.M that is after the painting competition. But the good thing is that it is not at the same time otherwise we both would miss each other competition.
"Let's go to the class, it's already time," Jonah said and I think he doesn't know that this week's classes are not going to be held.
"This week classes are not going to be held. It's for all practicing" I replied.
"Then tomorrow is your running competition are you going to practice," he asked.
"Yes of course"
"If you get tired today itself how you will run tomorrow?"
"Practice makes perfect man" I quoted. He didn't say anything after that.
"Ace, we are in a sports competition. Let's go to gym teacher so that we can enroll our name" I said and he nodded.
"I am coming with you" Jonah stated.
"Why?" I tilted my head in confusion.
"Just for time pass" he replied with a shrugged.
"Rain, Lisa are you both coming with us?" I asked them.
"No, I am going to practice my dance" Lisa replied and I looked at Rain.
"I will join you afterward" he replied.
"Let's go then," I said to both of them and they nodded their heads.
We reached the sports ground to find coach. I saw Rhea and her friends giving their names. We reached towards them. Ace gave his name in Basketball and I gave in running. After giving our names we left that place because there were lots of students who were crowded. We decided to leave school because Mrs. Patterson said this week she won't take rolls. If we want to take leave we can. I called Rain to know what he is doing.
"Hello! Rain, do you want to come with us? We are going home to practice." I asked.
"Yes I am coming where you are?" he asked.
"We are at the parking lot" I answered. I am coming by car with Jonah for 1 week because my father gave me my bicycle to my cousin. Waiting for few minutes Rain came. Jonah sat on the driving seat and when I was entering beside him Ace stopped me saying he wants to sit in the passenger seat. I asked why then he said he likes to sit in front. I went back seat and I sat beside Rain. We reached Jonah's house in twenty minutes there was quite a traffic on the road otherwise school is not that far. We moved out of the car. I decided to go to my house to change my outfit. After entering my closet I took a sports top with pants and changed into them. After changing I headed to Jonah's house and walked inside without knocking. I saw Rain who also changed I think he took Jonah's shirt and pants.
"Can I have a stopwatch and water bottle because I forgot to bring?" I asked Jonah. He went into the kitchen and brought me a water bottle then he went to a room and brought a watch stop and he gave it to me.
"I am leaving," I said and they all are following me.
"Rain, Jonah. You guys are not taking part in sports then why you are following me" I said and Ace laughed.
"It's going for you the same. I am going to run instead of practicing basketball" I reminded and he stopped laughing.
"That means you are going alone?" Jonah asked.
"Yes, of course. I just came here to see...to see...what you guys are doing" I lied because I don't know why I came here. I could have gone directly.
"I think Jonah and Rain can practice together they are taking part in the same competition. I don't know Ace why you came with us. You are in the Basketball Competition. You are going to practice with the group. You can't practice it alone" I said in one breathe.
"Yes, you are right. I am going to the school again" Ace said and he left with a sad expression and I don't know but feel bad about it for sending him away.
"We have time. We can company you" Jonah asked and Rain nodded. "Fine," I said and they followed me.
We reached to a running stadium.
I kept the bottle on a seat. Jonah and Rain stood together and took a stopwatch. I am in a position to start.
"Ready... Go," Rain said and I ran faster than I could. I concentrated on running so I didn't recognize that Jonah and Rain both were running with me. They both are out of breath.
"Why you guys are running with me?" I asked.
"To company you" they both replied in unison and they both looked at each other.
"You guys are amazing," I said them and they blushed.
"What second I reached?" I asked.
"It's a 20secs." Rain said.
"What?"
"20secs"
"I heard at first" I need to practice hard
