Chapter 17: Extra study hours
Jonah (POV)
This is our last hour which is for self-study. I am going to class. After entering I saw very few students who were sitting. Now I knew why Ms. Patterson asked me to see all the students. They skip these classes. Ariana, Rain, Lisa, and Ace were also not present in the class. I must have told them in lunch that they should be present here. I think I have to search for everyone. I decided to go out of the class to find them when Salina stood in front of me.
"What do you want?"
"I don't want anything. I just want to know where you are going."
"None of your business," I replied and started walking. I still remember that she split her juice purposefully on Ariana and I won't forgive her until she apologized to her. Why should one asked for her to apologize she should know her mistakes. I think first I should go to Canteen and at the same time, I decided to call everyone whose numbers I have. First I think I should call for Ariana because if I call her, Rain, Lisa, and Ace all of them I can get at the same time. After the second ring, she picked my call.
"Hello," she said.
"Where are you?" I asked.
"Why?"
"I think your self-study starts from now"
"I know"
"Then come to class"
"Why only me?"
"I am searching for all and if Rain, Lisa, and Ace and if anyone is with you, asked them to come in the class NOW"
"What will happen, if we don't attend class?"
"Your marks in finals will be detected"
"We..." I know she was going to say something but I hanged the call because I have to call everyone in the class.
I walked inside the canteen and saw Rhea with other classmates and I informed them to go to the class and they nodded their head without arguing. I decided to call for Corbyn, I got his number last Saturday. After the third bell, he picked the call.
"Where are you and Joseph?" I asked him.
"In the library"
"Help me by finding other students," I said.
"Okay," he replied without arguing. I am glad that he didn't argue.
After finding every student I decided to go to the class. After reaching to the class. I first said thanks to Joseph and Corbyn to help me otherwise it would take more time to find every student. I saw everyone was seated in their place but still I think I should take their rolls. Because I can have a record to show Ms. Patterson. I took a pen and paper and wrote everyone's names. After writing names I stood and faced everyone.
"I am taking rolls for your records so you all should reply when your names called," I said and started taking rolls.
After taking rolls. I decided to announce that everyone should be here on time otherwise every day it will be difficult for me. I saw the class and they were not studying.
"Everyone shut up!!" I yelled at them so that they will shut their mouths and I know they won't listen if I say sweetly. They all looked at me in a confused face.
"From tomorrow I am not going to find any of you. You must all be here on time and if you come late or if you won't attend this class. I will mark absent and your credits will be detected. This class is for learning not for playing games. If you work hard and attend this class regularly then we can go far camp after three months but if anyone doesn't attend this class then no camp. Start studying now if you have any doubts you can ask me I will help you? After saying that I went to my seat to sit. I took a book from my bag and started to study.
After an hour we finished our class. Some students asked me questions and I have helped them. Today half an hour was wasted. I hope they will come to the class regularly to study sincerely. I slide in my car and drove off to my house. After reaching home I saw Mrs. Garcia who was cleaning the house.
"Mrs. Garcia, Why are you cleaning the house it's not your work to do?" I stated.
"I know it's not my work but you are like my son I don't mind to clean. I don't know why you remove all your employees accept me?" she said but it was more than like a question didn't have an answer to tell. I went to my room. I kept my bag on the bed and moved to the closet to take my usual wears. After changing I throw myself on the bed I feel very tired today and soon sleep consume me.
I got up at 20:15. I slept this late I never felt this much tired. Ariana would be having her dinner I think I should go to her house. First I should wash my face. I entered into the bathroom to wash my face and after washing I dried myself by the towel. I reached the hall seeing Mrs. Garcia is cooking dinner.
"Mrs. Garcia I am going out for dinner, sorry that I can't have your dinner," I said.
"I think now a day's you are not liking my cooking" she faked her sad face making me chuckle.
"You are wrong you are the best cook in the world" I complimented.
"I know what you are trying to do so don't worry you can go to her house for dinner" she replied and how could she know I am going to Ariana's house.
Ariana (P.O.V)
I was going to my last class which was self-study. But Lisa and Rain came towards me telling them they want to go home. I insisted them to attend the class because it may detect the credits and I don't want them to lose credits. They told me that I should also skip those classes but if my dad knows that I am skipping classes he will get angry at me. I don't want him to get angry at me after all he works so hard for me. I don't want him to be upset over me. Ace came in a minute. He also told me that those classes are for self-study, we can also do that at home. But still, I was not convinced of them. My phone rang and I saw Jonah Id I decided to pick up the call and I did after the second ring. I didn't want to answer him that where I was otherwise he would get angry at me thinking I am not cooperating with him at least as a friend. So I didn't answer him where I was. Once I thought why he only calls me for studying but I forgot that he is our class monitor and he would be searching for others. I know that if we don't attend the class our credits will be detected. I was going to say that we are coming but he hanged the call. I think he got very angry at our behavior. I informed them about our credits then they decided to go to classes with me. We reached to the class after a few minutes. There were only a few students who were sitting. But instead of studying they were chatting or playing games except for Scarlett. After a few minutes, Salina came towards me and told me that I should stay away from Jonah. I don't know why she said that but we are friends, of course, I won't listen to her and why should I even listen to her stupid words. After fifteen minutes the class was full. I saw Joseph and Corbyn we're first to enter the class. After a few minutes, Jonah entered the class having a very serious look on his face and he also looks very tired. After entering he first thanked Joseph and Corbyn for helping him by finding students. He took rolls and after seeing us he yelled at us so that we could listen to his words. He explained to us that we have to attend these classes and if we do well in this we can also have the camp. After saying he went to his place to sit. He kept his head down in his book as I did. Some students asked help to him and he did. After having the last class I wanted to meet him but he already left.
Now I am having dinner with my dad thinking about what is Jonah eating. I mean he always comes to our house at dinner time leaving his dinner made by Mrs. Garcia but today he didn't shown himself. Thinking about this he finally showed his face in a split of seconds, a big smile spread on my face. I thought he got angry at me.
"Hi, Mr. Gonzales" he greeted my dad.
"Hi, I thought you won't come today," dad said.
"I slept after coming from the school and I didn't recognize the time," he said and while sitting on the chair in front of me.
"Did you both fought again?" dad asked and I wanted to know his answer so I kept my mouth shut.
"No, we didn't fight," he said and a small smile made on my lips.
We started eating our dinner having comfortable silence between us. After having dinner, Dad went to sleep while Jonah and I decided to wash utensils. I washed them with soap and Jonah wiped them with the dried cloth. We finished washing within fifteen minutes. We sat on the couch and I opened the TV. We were watching TV shows. I brought orange juice and some chips and kept it on the table. After three hours Jonah went to his house and I went to my room after locking the front door. I slept after a few minutes.
