I trudge my way towards the only seat that me and Ava could find in the cafeteria. It's a free period on a Friday which means the students are all going to act like scavengers for food. Unfortunately, its only me and Ava, since the other girls don't have a free period on Friday.
"So, how's everything going?" I pop the question to Ava.
"I should ask you that, how's Kane?"
What?
"Okay, where is this coming from?" I ask dumbfounded.
"Well, you clearly liked Kane but ever since he kissed Emily, you backed off" she replies.
"No! I didn't like him".
"You clearly did, and you can still have a chance with him".
"Ava, I know Kane and Emily's kiss was a fling since she already has a boyfriend, but I don't like Kane in any romantic way", at least I don't think I do.
"Still shocking, how Emily technically cheated on her boyfriend" Ava says.
I nod my head in agreement, I know Emily is my friend, but I still don't agree with what she did. I'm not in a place to judge her but I feel bad for her boyfriend. He's moved up north to Manchester for university and I understand long distance is hard but it's still not right.
"Anyway, are you coming to my brother's best friends party tonight?" Ava asks.
"Tonight? I'm not sure honestly, are you?"
"Yup have to".
"I don't even know where it is" I say.
"How about we go together, I'll come over after school to pick you up".
"Okay sounds good" I say with a smile to which Ava smiles too.
She gets up to go get food whilst I scroll through Instagram. I should really message Kane to let him know I can't revise today; it would be the second day that I don't meet him. I think I'll miss him. Maybe I should say no to the party so I can see him. No, I shouldn't get attached to Kane, besides I should socialise more to get out of my introvert bubble.

I'm curling my hair when the doorbell rings. It's probably Ava.
"ASHER CAN YOU OPEN THE DOOR?!"
Damn it! I'm still not ready and Ava is here. I thought I could finish off a whole season of my show since there was only 3 episodes left.
Wrong decision!
I try to hurry up and feel a sting going up my hand. I don't have time to think about this at the moment. I get changed and rush downstairs where I find Ava and Asher deep in a conversation.
They definitely have a spark!
Ava is blushing and giggling whilst talking and Asher had a charming smile on his face whilst he's leaning on the staircase.
"Ummm… hi guys" I say baffled on what to say.
"Oh, hi Dels" Ava says still blushing, breaking eye contact from Asher to look over at me.
"Where you guys going anyway?" Asher asks looking between me and Ava.
"It's my brother's friends party, so Delilah is coming with me".
Asher gives an acknowledging look before popping the question "Is Elijah your brother so are you going to Ajay's party?"
I look over at Ava who gives a confused look "Yeah… you know them?"
"Yeah, Elijah is in my business class. Come, I'll drop you?"
Ava starts blushing and glances at Asher "Are you sure?"
"Yup, let me just go get changed".
Asher rushes past me to go upstairs, not that he needed to get changed but I'm guessing he's going to come inside with us.
"Your brother is really nice" Ava says still smiling.
I give a slight giggle "Thank you".
I sit down on the staircase waiting for Asher but realise I didn't ask Ava if she wants anything "Do you want water or anything?"
"Water please".
I nod my head and get up to go to the kitchen and Ava follows me, I pour water for her and pass it to her. Ava looks beautiful tonight. Her almond grey eyes compliment her white dress so nicely whilst her hair is pin straight falling behind her back.
Me and Ava's dress colours are completely different whilst hers is a white bodycon dress, mine is a gold and black lace dress yet we both look equally nice in our own ways.
"Let's go" Asher announces as he walks into the kitchen.
We all walk out, and Asher starts to drive off.
Throughout the journey, Ava and Asher mostly do the talking.
It's like I'm third wheeling them!
We pull up to Ajay's house and I couldn't be gladder. The house is bigger than mine but not bigger than Kane's. Kane's house reminds me of Regina George's house from mean girls.
I walk in with Ava and Asher, it's really crowded in here. Asher splits from us so it's just me and Ava finding our way around. Ava goes to find her brother which just leaves me to find my way around. I decide to just go get a drink.
Whilst standing in the kitchen drinking juice some guy nearby starts talking, "Hey, beautiful".
I just ignore him and look away "What's your name?"
I ignore him again but this time he starts coming towards me, "I'm talking to you".
"I'm sorry I don't want to talk to you" I say as politely as I can, so I don't get hurt.
"Oh, you can talk can you beautiful, what's your name?"
I look over at him this time and realise he's around 6"5 with a really good built but his eyes seem so cold that it gives me shivers down my spine.
I start to walk off when I feel a tug on my wrist "where do you think you're going?"
"Please let go" I say trying to free my hand and feeling tears at the back of my eyes.
"LET… HER… FUCKING… GO" a voice booms from near the doorway.
We both look over and it was Kane's voice. He's glaring at the guy and walks up to where we're standing "I said let her FUCKING go".
The guy lets go of my wrist "Alright bro, chill out", with saying that he walks out.
Kane looks over at me and his glare softens "You can slap me, but you couldn't slap him or even scream for help".
I look down with the tears still threatening to come out "I got scared" I whisper.
"Well maybe next time don't come without someone or looking like a slut".
I look up to Kane shaking his head, scanning me up and down before walking off.
I just stand there in disbelief.
Should I be happy that Kane helped me or angry he called me a slut or upset by what just happened?
