Chapter 12: EPISODE 12: THE TRUE SELF
The siren sounded in the early morning. All member who was at their beds forced themselves to get up. They immediately got in their uniforms and gathered in the direction room.
"What's wrong, Yuko?", asked Ryu.
"A kaiju was detected 1 kilometer away from the Gakuraba Nuclear Power Plant!", said Yuko after she checked the radar.
"Is there a similar species?", asked Teppei. Konomi immediately checked whether there's a record for the appearing kaiju.
"There is. Document SSSP recorded a similar species compared with this kaiju. Registry Code, Uranium Kaiju, Gabora.", said Konomi.
"No wonder it targeted the power plant.", said Teppei.
"Yeah, it considered Uranium-235 as its food source.", said Mizuka.
"Well, we must stop it before it reaches the power plant. GUYS! Sally Go!", shouted Ryu.
"G.I.G!", all members responded.
Moments later, the Gun Phoenix Striker and the Gun Launcher would take off.
"Gabora, detected!", said Mirai right after he detected it on the radar.
"Yosh! Gun Loader, come with me. Booster, Launcher will be guarding the power plant. If we fail to take it down, the fate of the power plant depends on you!", commanded Ryu who was in the Gun Winger.
"G.I.G.", all members responded.
"Teppei, how's the plan?", asked George.
"According to the documents, Gabora was lured away from a power plant using a flamethrower attack. You could try doing that!", said Teppei.
"But, do we a flamethrower on our machines?", asked George.
"Captain! Gun Launcher has a set of flamethrowers attached to it. Let me take it from here!", said Haruzaki who was in the Gun Launcher alongside Mizuka.
"Alright then, Loader, take over Launcher's place!", said Ryu.
"G.I.G.", said George while taking over Gun Loader's place at the power plant.
Gun Launcher would commence the suggested plan onto the raging Gabora.
"Mizuka-san, is the Flame Shower ready?", asked Haruzaki.
"In thirty seconds, it should be ready! You can start the targeting!", said Mizuka while checking the condition of the recently-discovered weapon. Haruzaki immediately used the automatic targeting technology to lock on to the target. "Haruzaki-san, it's ready!", said Mizuka right after 30 seconds. Coincidentally, the target has been locked on.
"Flame Shower, fire!", said Haruzaki while pushing the activation button. The weapon would be fired right onto Gabora. The kaiju would back its way from the power plant as a result.
"It just walked away from the power plant!", said Marina.
At the same time, George and Ryu realised something simultaneously.
"Oy, Teppei. Does it have eyes?", asked George.
"I was about to ask the same question. Teppei?", asked Ryu as well.
"Oh no, I forgot to tell you! The actual face of Gabora was covered by that 'mane' sort of a thing. It's dangerous to fly near it. You need to fly almost 100 meters away from it.", said Teppei.
"Why? What will happen if it opened its mane?", asked Ryu. Coincidentally, Gabora would open its mane and would shoot its Radioactive Spray, hitting the Gun Winger and the Gun Loader in the process. Both machines would crash land as soon as they got hit by Gabora's attack.
"Captain! Mirai-san!", shouted Haruzaki out of concern.
"George-san! Marina-san!", shouted Mizuka for the same reason.
"Don't care about us! Concentrate on attacking Gabora! Don't let it get closer to the city!", ordered Ryu. The remaining machines would continue their attack on Gabora.
Meanwhile, at the Phoenix Nest,
"Darn it! Why did I forget to tell them about that? That information is quite crucial!", complained Teppei while scratching his head.
"That's weird for a kaiju expert like you, Teppei-san.", said Kazuya.
"Teppei, did you search for its information earlier?", asked Sakomizu.
"I did search for it earlier. But, somehow the information wasn't there! I knew I would miss something but I don't know what it is!", said Teppei.
"What do you mean, the information wasn't there?", asked Konomi.
"When I searched the documents for Gabora's information, for some reason, the information about its weakness was empty.", complained Teppei.
"Empty? That's impossible. GUYS' documents are confidential! Even, our enemies would have a hard time to hack into it!", said Kazuya. All members would be suspicious about it.
Back at the battleground, the crash-landed members were figuring out the condition of their respective machines.
"Mirai, is the engines okay?", asked Ryu who was doing a quick check on the controls. Mirai would find a crucial discovery at the right time.
"The radioactive traces... is melting into the engine!", said Mirai. Ryu was extremely shocked about it.
"Melting into our wings? Dammit! Can we stop it?!", asked Ryu.
"If only I realised it earlier... I could have transformed and put out the traces! But, it's too late since the melting process almost reached the core!", said Mirai. At the same time, George contacted them.
"Ryu! Are you okay?", asked George.
"The radioactive traces is melting into our engine! I don't know if we could escape or not! Mirai is currently finding a way to escape.", said Ryu.
"Wait, the radioactive traces on yours... is still melting? Ours already stopped a few moments ago.", asked Marina. Ryu immediately felt confused about that. At the same time, Mirai realised something.
"Ryu-san! The melting's stopped!", said Mirai who realised that the temperature of their machine suddenly dropped.
"What?!", asked Ryu out of confusion.
"The melting stopped before it was about to reach the Speeder's engine.", said Mirai.
"Ryu! Use your chance! Get out of there using the Gun Speeder!", said George.
"Got it. Mirai, turn off the connector switch. We're going to eject from the Gun Winger frame.", said Ryu while preparing the controls. Mirai immediately did what he's ordered to do.
"Switches has been turned off. Ryu-san, we're ready to go!", said Mirai right after he turned off the connector switch.
"Gun Speeder One, eject!", said Ryu while pushing the lever.
As soon as their Gun Speeder was ejected out of the Gun Winger body frame, Mirai realised that something was reaching their way at breakneck speed.
"Something is coming here in full speed!", said Mirai right after he checked the radar. At that exact time, Marina heard something weird coming from behind.
"The wind... suddenly changed... Mirai-kun! Ryu, look out from your behind!", said Marina.
"Our behind...?", asked the confused Ryu. Exactly at the time, a black titan flew right across them. The breakneck speed of the black titan caused a ruckus towards the Gun Speeder.
"Dammit! The controls are unstable!", said the struggling Ryu. Mirai, at the time, would intentionally take over the controls. Luckily, he managed to control it after a ruckus moment inside the Gun Speeder.
"Sorry, Ryu-san. I had to...", Mirai apologised for his actions.
"It's okay, Mirai... What was that actually?", said Ryu while correcting the position of his helmet.
"It's him...", said Mirai while looking at his front non-stop. Ryu would look towards the same direction as well as a result of curiosity. He would be shocked as Onyx Mebius would stand right in front of them, confronting the rampaging Gabora.
"Captain! It's Onyx Mebius!", said the surprised Mizuka.
"Captain! What's our next action?", asked Haruzaki. However, Ryu didn't give any reaction to Haruzaki's questions. "Captain! Captain! Answer me!", shouted Haruzaki who demanded answers.
"Don't interfere...", said Ryu slowly. The members would be confused with his orders. "Don't interfere with them unless they're threatening the nearby power plant.", added Ryu.
"But, Captain, we can't just stand here... doing nothing! We need to do something!", said Haruzaki.
"I know that... But, Haruzaki, trust me! I know what I'm doing... We're going to include ourselves in this showdown only if the lives at the power plant are threatened.", said Ryu who seemed to have a secret plan behind his orders. "Mirai, do not transform.", ordered Ryu out of a sudden.
"Why is that, Ryu-san?", asked the confused Mirai.
"You fought enough for the time being. Besides, let's see what is this guy's real intentions...", answered Ryu, leaving Mirai with many questions in his mind.
Back to the fight, Onyx Mebius would conquer his battle against the kaiju, Gabora. Gabora would rarely attack him during the fight as Onyx Mebius would attack it rapidly non-stop. In fact, whenever Gabora tried to stand up on its own, its opponent would stop him from trying to do so. The members, on the other hand, were witnessing Onyx Mebius' fighting style while standing by for further orders.
"His fighting style is really different compared to Mirai-kun's, don't you think, George?", asked Marina.
"Yeah, his fighting style is more sadistic, merciless. More like a brawler.", answered George.
"I agree with Ikaruga, senpai. I think... we are not witnessing an 'Ultraman versus kaiju' situation. I think... we're witnessing a 'kaiju versus kaiju' situation right now.", said Donna.
"Even, the original Ultraman's fighting style wasn't as sadistic as his.", said Teppei.
"What's his real intentions, exactly?", monologued the curious Mirai.
Later in the fight, they realised something weird about the new titan.
"3 minutes have already ended!", said Yuko who looked at the clock.
"Wait, what?! But... his color timer is still blue!", said the shocked Kazuya.
"The real question is... Is he really an Ultraman?", said Teppei. That question had left them with many assumptions especially Mirai as he's witnessing a titan who looked to be the same kind as him.
Back to the fight, Gabora was getting weaker from time to time as it received a great beating from its opponent. Onyx Mebius, on the other hand, had brought out his own 'Mebium Blade'. After that, a bright light came out from the blade, causing the kaiju to be stunned at the moment. Then, he burst forward with his blade by his side before he penetrated Gabora's abdomen using the same blade. As a result, yellow gas particles started to spread into the surroundings. Exactly at that time, Teppei made a huge discovery.
"This is not good! Not good at all! Ryu-san! You guys! You need to get out of there!", said Teppei.
"What's wrong, Teppei?", asked Ryu.
"I don't know what happened just now but I discovered that there's a lot of energy concentrated inside Gabora's body. The yellow gas particles is a sign to remind us that the kaiju's body is leaking! Therefore, you guys need to get out of there before it explodes!", said Teppei.
"What happened if it explodes, Teppei-kun?", asked Marina.
"A huge amount of radioactive gas will be spread. The estimated covered distance will be... approximately 30 kilometers!", said the worried Teppei.
"Dammit! The Gun Loader should have been useful!", said George while hitting the radar in anger.
"Captain! We need to go away right now!", said Haruzaki out of a sudden while looking straight to his forward. The captain would soon realise that the kaiju was about to explode.
At that exact time, Mirai was about to put out his Mebius Brace before Onyx Mebius did the unthinkable. At the exact moment where they thought that the kaiju were going to explode, Onyx Mebius would absorb all radioactive gasses, leaving Gabora exploded into pieces without leaving any radioactive traces behind. His actions would leave all members in confusion. Right after the explosion, he would fade out of the scene.

Back at the Phoenix Nest, the members were still confused about Onyx Mebius' actions. They started to analyze the previous fights that Onyx Mebius participated in.
"That's weird... It can't be...", said the confused Teppei while walking back-and-forth repeatedly. At the same time, the adjutant and his secretary would enter the direction room. They both would be confused when they saw the members' worried faces.
"Heh, you guys! Is there something wrong? Is there something you need to ask me? Because right now, I'm in a good mood for answering questions.", said Toriyama while adjusting his collars intentionally.
"What is his intention exactly?", sighed Marina.
"Who? Me?", asked Toriyama while pointing at himself.
"It's not you, Toripi!", shouted Marina towards the adjutant who got startled after that.
"It's that black Ultraman.", said Haruzaki in a low tone.
"Black Ultraman? You mean that Registry Code, 'Onyx Mebius'?", asked Maru.
"I felt weird. He has just beaten up the innocent Sado recently and just now, he helped us? Don't you guys feel the same thing?", asked Konomi. The others nodded indicating they agreed with Konomi.
Suddenly, someone decided to speak out of a sudden.
"Everything he did was wrong to you guys. Why's that?", asked the recently awaken Eiji.
"What did you say?! Hey, repeat what you've said just now!", urged Haruzaki who became mad out of a sudden. Mirai immediately stood up to block Haruzaki from getting his hands on Eiji.
"What do you mean by that, Eiji-kun?", asked Mirai.
"He attacked Sadora because he was going the wrong way. Let me ask you guys, do you want him to be evil first, then? I think if he became evil without our knowledge, we would have done the same thing Onyx Mebius did in the first place. Don't you guys remember, 'prevention is better than cure'?", said Eiji while looking straight into Haruzaki's face.
"But, we can cure him, right? I mean like, every disease has its own cure, right?", asked Yuko.
"Do you know what called Sadora the other day, Oshida? And, if you do, do you know the cure?", asked Eiji again. Yuko immediately got silenced after that.
"And, regarding what happened today. I saw what happened to the radioactive traces. Onyx Mebius, used his own power to stop the radioactive traces. If he didn't in the first place, would you guys be right here, right now? Or, should I say, would there still be Japan right now if it wasn't for him?", said Eiji. All members got silenced including Haruzaki himself. Immediately, after that, he stood up out of his seat and went for the door. Before he went out of the direction room, he left a message.
"Oh, one more thing... If you guys think Mebius is the only hero right now, think again, because you're wrong.", said Eiji before he left the direction room.
Ryu was about to chase him before Mirai blocked him.
"Let me talk to him. What he said just now, is not wrong after all. I'm not the only hero.", said Mirai before he went on to chase Eiji. Minutes later, he managed to find Eiji, walking along the hallway.
"Eiji-kun, wait a minute!", shouted Mirai from far.
"I don't want to hear anything from you, Mebius.", replied Eiji who didn't stop walking at all.
"All the things you've said just now has made me wonder... Are you Onyx Mebius?", asked Mirai. His question made Eiji stopped walking right at that moment.
"I don't know what happened... but, you sure do behave like him.", said Mirai. "I know, I'm not the only hero. But, I learned something before. A hero is the one who fights for justice. Think for a moment. Even though Sadora did go the wrong way, that doesn't mean Onyx Mebius could beat it up. He didn't do any harm. If he ever got involved in the darkness, then we wouldn't hesitate to do all things we can do to bring him back... if it includes our lives.", said Mirai. "I would do anything to protect innocent lives and to serve justice because that's my duty as an Ultraman. And, I'm pretty the others would say the same thing.", said Mirai.
"So, you're saying that he has to be an Ultraman so that he can be recognised as a protector of the innocents and the one who serves justice? Or, precisely you're saying that he has to be Ultraman Mebius to do those things. Is that what you meant?", asked Eiji out of a sudden.
"That's not what I meant!", said Mirai before Eiji interrupted him again.
"So, you're saying titans who don't have the name 'Ultraman' can't do those things? I smell arrogance right now. I can't believe an Ultraman would have a perception like that. I can't believe you've been called as an Ultraman.", said Eiji before he continued to walk along the hallway.
"Eiji-kun, wait a minute! That's not what I meant!", said Mirai. Eiji, on the other hand, would neglect all Mirai's call. Mirai, eventually, would give up on talking to him at the time.
Later, in the night, Mirai was sitting at the hill nearby on his own.
"Is it wrong... of me being an Ultraman? Is it wrong if me being myself?", Mirai asked himself while looking at an Ultraman Mebius action figure.
"There's nothing wrong with being yourself, Mirai-kun.", Mirai heard a voice from behind. He quickly looked behind and he saw Marina coming his way with drinks in both of her hands.
"Marina-san, how did you know I'm here?", asked Mirai.
"I know you're in a dilemma, Mirai-kun. I heard everything that you've said to him and what he said to you. We kinda all too. Besides, there's no other place you would be besides this hill whenever you had a dilemma. Am I right?", asked Marina.
"You surely do, Marina-san...", said Mirai.
"Now, tell me... what's wrong?", said Marina while sitting beside him.
"I don't know what to say. He's got a point, to be honest.", said Mirai.
"What? Do you mean that whole 'Ultraman name' thing? Don't think about it again, Mirai-kun", said Marina.
"Do you think I'm being arrogant for being myself, Marina-san?", asked Mirai.
"I don't think so... But, you gotta know this. Sometimes, people's opinion is different. We all have different opinions. However, the problems will come out when we feel like ours' worth more than what anyone else can say. Remember that, Mirai-kun.", answered Marina. "But, it doesn't mean that we can't defend our opinion. Your opinion sometimes... it's the best for you.", added Marina.
"So, what do I have to do right now for this situation?", asked Mirai.
"The opinion that mattered the most, is the opinion which is beneficial for most sides. That's my thought about this. What you said earlier, you had your point... and, I agree with you.", said Marina. "Mirai-kun, your duty as an Ultraman is to bring benefit to the universe. And, what you're doing right now, don't stop it. Keep doing what you do best. Protect as many smiles as possible. Can you promise me that, Mirai-kun?", asked Marina while doing a pinky promise towards Mirai. Mirai immediately answered the pinky promise.
"I promise, Marina-san.", said Mirai.
"Well, then. Here's your drink. Sleep early, okay? We have a lot of work tomorrow. Good night, Mirai-kun.", said Marina while standing up to leave the scene for her bedroom.
"Marina-san... thank you for everything.", said Mirai before she left.
"My pleasure, Mirai-kun.", said Marina before she opened the door. Eventually, Mirai would leave the scene moments after that.
The next day, the GUYS members gathered in the direction room doing their usual morning businesses as always. And, then, the automatic door suddenly opened. All members immediately looked towards the opened door. Exactly five seconds later, all of them would stand up steadily as the supreme commander of GUYS appeared without any news.
"Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. Sorry for the sudden appearance. Apparently, I got a request from you, CREW GUYS Japan. Officer Kuze, I've sent the task file to you just now. Please open it and project it.", said the Supreme Commander.
"Huh? Oh... G.I.G.", replied Teppei who immediately looked for the file after that. And, then, the file was projected to the screen.
"Ladies and gents of GUYS, as you all know, Registry Code; the Uranium kaiju, Gabora appeared out of nowhere. It apparently targeted the Gakuraba Nuclear Power Plant. However, unexpectedly, we received multiple reports that the same kaiju had successfully attacked multiple power plants across Japan and apparently, various countries as well.", said the Supreme Commander.
"Wait a minute, with all due respect, wasn't Gabora recently has been defeated by Onyx Mebius?", asked Kazuya.
"I know that. I felt weird as well. Right now, I have only two assumptions. The Gabora that appeared recently has been revived by an unknown power or multiple creatures from the same species has been revived.", said the Supreme Commander.
"So, what's the plan, sir?", asked the captain.
"I've decided to collaborate with the local nuclear department to do a special mission. This mission will reveal whether my assumptions are correct or not. The mission is... all of you, CREW GUYS Japan will be divided into multiple groups to investigate the sites that have been attacked by the kaiju. This is to find the culprit or the backbone behind Gabora's actions. I don't think Gabora's acting on its own. GUYS-INVESTIGATOR will be leading this mission. Therefore, each group will be lead by a GUYS-INVESTIGATOR. After that, we will regroup right away to proceed with the second mission. We will lure it or them, using a piece of uranium-235 which is 25 meters in diameter that we will borrow from the local nuclear department. The attacking plan will be decided based on the results of the luring plan. I hope that this is clear enough for you guys.", said the Supreme Commander.
"One question, are there hazmat suits included in this mission? Because we're basically handling radioactive materials. Our uniforms wouldn't stand that, actually.", asked Teppei.
"Good question, Kuze. Luckily, the headquarters had taken this matter under consideration. Therefore, the headquarters decided to hand to you, a special suit designed for missions like this. Adjutant Toriyama, if you please...", said the Supreme Commander. The adjutant was completely shocked when the Supreme Commander picked his name.
"It will be an honour, sir!", said Toriyama while bowing down to him. "You guys, follow me!", said Toriyama before he walked proudly along the hallway. The members would soon follow him from behind.
"You're lucky, adjutant that he had mentioned your name.", said Maru.
"You're right, Maru! Only men like me can achieve or should I say, deserve to have his name to be called by the Supreme Commander.", said the overly-proud adjutant.
"Even though you're the adjutant of CREW GUYS Japan?", asked Maru intentionally.
"Yes, although I'm the adjutant of CREW GUYS Japan.", said Toriyama before he realised that Maru was making fun of him in front of the members. He immediately smacked Maru on his head.
Minutes later, they have arrived at the hangar for some reason.
"Ummm, why are we at the hangar? I thought that we're getting new suits, not a fighter.", asked George. Right at that moment, a Gun Winger has arrived at the scene.
"Is that... the Gun Winger from the GUYS International?!", shouted Mizuka.
"You're right, Mizuka-chan! I have requested to the headquarters for the suits to be hand-held to you!", answered Toriyama proudly.
"Don't you think it's better to wait for the Gun Winger first in the direction room before distributing them to us?", asked George while looking closely and directly to the adjutant's face.
"Or, do you think this is a cool way to reveal the new suits, adjutant?", asked Donna.
"What... what are you talking about? This is not my idea!", said the panicked Toriyama.
"Supreme Commander, can't we distribute it inside? It's quite uncomfortable here.", asked Ryu.
"I don't know about this. This is the adjutant's suggestion to the headquarters which is to wait for the representative Gun Winger to arrive before the new suits got to be hand-held to the members. That's why I chose him to bring us here.", said the Supreme Commander. After that, Toriyama quickly got surrounded by a number of CREW GUYS Japan members. Maru at the time took the chance to sneak his way out of the way before Toriyama saw him trying to run away.
"Hey, Maru! Where are you going? Don't leave me here alone!", said the terrified Toriyama while dragging his secretary back to him.
Moments after that, a representative from CREW GUYS International got out of the Gun Winger.
"Supreme Commander. Nice to meet you.", said the representative while shaking his hands with the supreme commander. "Captain Aihara, I'm Tobias Muhling from the gear and weaponry department of CREW GUYS International.", said the representative while shaking hands with the captain at that time.
"Lange nicht gesehen (Long time no see), Muhling-senpai.", answered Ryu with a bright smile. All of them were surprised when they heard Ryu speaking a different language.
"Guys, this is Professor Muhling. He's a senpai of mine back at the GUYS Academy.", Ryu introduced the man to the members.
"Hajimemashite. (Nice to meet you.)", Muhling greeted the members in Japanese. The members immediately greeted him back.
"For your information, he's the creator of the Triger Shot. He's also the one who realises Teppei's suggested blueprint of the METEOR Shot.", said Sakomizu.
After that, the professor immediately opened the highly-secured crate that he brought with him. The crate contained a tight suit, a pair of high-tech-looking boots, a set of armour with gloves and a weird looking helmet.
"What you see right now is the MAGNUS Gear, a set of polyvalent suit.", said the professor. "This is the Magnum Trekker. It has thrusters built-in. Perfect for a crisis mid-air flight and space mission. It also has a built-in exoskeleton that improves physical attacks causing them to be five times more powerful than normal physical attacks.", said the professor while brought out the high-tech boots. After that, he brought out the gloves.
"This is the Magnum Fist. Also has an exoskeleton included inside to improve physical attacks. For this gear, multiple modes were included to adapt to the current situations. For instant, if there's a fire in front of you, there's the extinguisher mode where the fire extinguisher will be shot through the fingertips. There's also the ascending mode, where the texture of the gloves will be changed into a stickier texture. Very good to use for climbing.", added the professor.
"Next is the Magnumtechtor which is basically a body armor. It used a certain material to withstand extreme conditions and certain powerful physical impacts. It can also camouflage itself to avoid being seen by the enemies.", said the professor before he brought out the final part of the gear which is the helmet or visor.
"Now, this is not technically a new visor but a new visor frame for the current GUYS Visor. What you do to insert this frame into the slots on the GUYS Visor before you slide the bottom part of it until it reaches the grey handle of the main visor. This visor frame included vision such as macro, infrared, x-ray and night vision, built-in radar, respiration and telecommunication system.", said the professor.
"Sorry to interrupt, but gear like this usually requires a huge amount of energy. Does this gear counts too?", asked Teppei.
"Yes, unfortunately. This gear requires five days to be fully charged. The gear requires its own designated charging station to charge its power. And, also, for security reasons, your Memory Display will be the activation key of this device. An encryption password has been sent to each of you through your Memory Displays. Each of them is different.", said the professor.
"Since you have got your gears, let's proceed to the mission. I will divide you guys into groups. Officer Teppei, Yuko, Donna, Mirai, you're in group 1. Officer Kazuya, George, Konomi, Mizuka, you're in group 2. Officer Marina, Haruzaki… Eiji, you're in group 3.", said the Supreme Commander.
Once the division into groups ended, most members expressed their concern amongst themselves when the supreme commander decided to put Haruzaki and Eiji in a single team.
"Oy, Marina, are you sure you can handle those two? They're basically mortal enemies at this point.", asked George.
"Should we ask the Supreme Commander to change their groups? I'm worried that the task might get disturbed by their arguments.", asked Teppei.
"Are you crazy? That's basically telling strangers about our secrets. The supreme commander definitely shouldn't know about this!", scolded Marina.
"Can't Ryu-san do something about this?", asked Konomi before all of them stared at the captain. The captain instantly replied by shrugging his shoulders. The members immediately scratched their heads in concern of both of the particular members.
"I wish you all the best for this mission.", said the supreme commander whose speech notified the members.
"Good luck. GUYS, Sally Go!", shouted Ryu.
"G.I.G.", all members responded.
An hour later, the members dispatched as the mission started.
"Group 1, this is Mirai speaking. Just a reminder about our investigation zone, we will take the sites from the northern zone. Our investigation will include a mile in diameter for each site.", said Mirai to his groupmates who were boarding the Gun Winger and the Gun Tornader.
"Group 2, this is Mizuka speaking. For our investigation zone, we will take the western and southern zones since both zones have the least amount of damage.", said Mizuka to her groupmates while boarding the Gun Booster and Gun Saber. However, in Group 3, things didn't go smoothly like others.
"This is Marina speaking. Requesting investigation zone from Gun Loader. Please answer me.", asked Marina to the Gun Loader pilots which are Eiji and Haruzaki. However, her message didn't get replied to by both of them. "Why did the Supreme Commander told them to be in the same machine?! The mission wouldn't be started at all in this condition!", monologued Marina in anger. Luckily, she got to know her investigation zone when Ryu called her secretly.
"Marina, can you hear me? Did you know your investigation zone yet?", whispered Ryu.
"Not yet and never will be since both of them were forced to be in the same machine!", Marina expressed her anger.
"I'm sorry. I can't do anything since it's the supreme commander's order. Your investigation zone is the eastern zone. I gotta go before they find me out! Good luck!", said Ryu who immediately broke the call after that.
"Well, looks like I'm on my own. Gun Launcher, burner on!", said Marina while pushing the lever before the Gun Launcher blasted off to the scene. Miraculously, the Gun Loader blasted off to the scene as well moments later.
A few minutes later, all teams had almost arrived at their first locations.
"This is Gun Winger. We have reached the designated landing zone for the first site. Prepare to land.", said Mirai before he landed the Gun Winter onto the landing zone, followed by the Gun Tornader. Coincidentally, the other teams would do exactly the same thing as the first team did. Before they went out to investigate, they had put on their MAGNUS Gear for safety reasons. As for their first sites, there were no proves of the culprit detected there. They went onto their second sites but the same result came out. All teams would come back to their machines in disappointment.
"Well, we came back-and-forth for nothing, apparently.", said Donna while putting off his helmet after being cleaned up.
"Well, an order is an order. Proceeding with the final site. Gun Winger, burner on!", said Mirai who blasted off with the Gun Winger. The other machines would proceed to their final sites.
As for the first two teams, they found nothing, unfortunately. They would be extremely disappointed right after they covered the whole site. Donna would lie onto the ground with his suit on before the cleaning process.
"Well, 17 hours of our lives just went on like that. I had never been disappointed like this before. Ikaruga, what about you?", asked Donna to George from the other side.
"Well, at least I can say that I'm very satisfied that we've finished it.", said George.
"That's what will happen when a radioactive kaiju was revived on the same day.", said Teppei.
"At least, we had finished it for today.", said Donna.
"I hope tomorrow's mission won't be as long as this.", said Mirai. The other members' eyes immediately opened wide when Mirai mentioned the mission the day after.
"Ahhhh, I forgot that we've got two missions to be handled. Ugh...", moaned Donna before the others would soon follow him.
The third team, on the other hand, were still ongoing with their task. Marina decided to take a rest for a minute.
"Ahh... it's so difficult to handle kids. At this stage, I don't know whether to have multiple kids or not.", said Marina while observing both Eiji and Haruzaki who were arguing about the division of their investigation zone as they've collided with each other a huge amount of times for that day only. After she took her rest, she continued with her mission right after she tried to separate both of them.
"That's enough, you guys! How about you, Haruzaki-kun, go this way, Eiji-kun, go that way while I'll stay here on this site for any clues. Satisfied? Agree?", asked Marina.
"If I saw your face one more time... you're gonna play hard.", warned Haruzaki while fisting his hands. Eiji immediately twisted his hands before Marina hit their heads to separate them.
"What's up with you two?! We're on a task right now and you still can make time to argue? If this continues, we would finish it for today!", scolded Marina to both of them. Luckily, Marina's effort was successful as both of them finally went to their own ways. At last, she could finally focus on the task given.
Exactly, an hour later, Marina contacted both of her juniors through her Memory Display.
"Eiji-kun, Haruzaki-kun, I'm going back to the Gun Launcher. I've finished my part. If you've finished, please come back quickly. The others might have been home a long time ago.", said Marina.
"I've finished my part as well, Marina-san. I'm heading back to Gun Loader.", said Haruzaki while running back to his machine.
"I'm coming.", said Eiji while elegantly walked his way to the machine. However, on the way back to the machine, Eiji encountered a sheet of black cloth hanging on a branch of a tree. He quickly took the cloth and analysed it. "The radioactive level is higher than the surroundings. What does that mean?", monologued Eiji curiously.
"Hey, you better be quick or I'll leave you here!", shouted the annoyed Haruzaki who was desperately wanted to head back home. Eiji, on the other hand, decided to bring back the piece of cloth without the others' knowledge before he heads back to the Gun Loader. On the way back, Eiji would stare at the heavily-secured transparent crate containing the piece of cloth throughout the trip back to the Phoenix Nest. He would continue to stare at the cloth throughout the night that day as well.
The day after, the second part of the plan has been carried out. Before that, the members have been briefed about the plan from the chief inspector, Sakomizu as the supreme commander have returned to the headquarters.
"This is the plan. We have collaborated with GUYS Ocean and they agreed to lend their magnetic field emitter. First of all, we would follow the plan from yesterday. We will lure it or them, using a piece of uranium-235 which is 25 meters in diameter that we will borrow from the local nuclear department. And, then, we'll use the maquette kaijus to defeat it or them. Meanwhile, you guys will have to stand by with your suits on only if the enemy's closer.", said Sakomizu.
"I've asked the supreme commander for permission to use the upper level of METEOR, only for this mission. For this mission, you can only use METEOR from level 1 until level 4.", said Misaki.
"That means, the time will be longer right?", asked Teppei.
"That's correct. For this mission, we'll be using Windom but with slight modifications.", answered Misaki.
"Slight modifications? What do you mean?", asked Kazuya.
"For this mission, the headquarters had agreed to give us the brand new Aqua Elemental Capsule. This capsule has the same function as the Fire Elemental Capsule that we used to fuse with Windom before becoming Fire Windom.", said Misaki while brought out the Aqua Capsule from a special briefcase she brought with her. After that, she gave the members the capsule the opportunity to have a look at the Aqua Capsule. "As soon as Gabora got trapped inside the magnetic field, Aqua Windom will freeze it using the Cryogenic Cannon. Once it got frozen, we will change the magnetic field into a magnetic sphere. The sphere will be brought into space before it will be destroyed by the Raiton-66 Space Bombs. I wish you all the best.", said Misaki.
"I hope that's clear enough. GUYS, Sally Go!", shouted Ryu.
"G.I.G.", the members responded before they dispatched to the site.
For this mission, they had picked an empty land. The magnetic field emitter has been placed throughout the site in circular form. The members, on the other hand, were observing the situation far away from the site as the site would be highly radiated.
"Magnetic field emitter is ready, sir!", said one of the staffs.
"Affirmative. Gun Tornader, your turn.", said Sakomizu through his Memory Display.
"G.I.G, begin transferring radioactive material!", said Donna before he started moving the radioactive material using the Gun Tornader towards the middle of the site. After he reached the middle of the site, Konomi immediately reminded him.
"Alright, Donna-kun. You can slowly place the material onto the ground.", said Konomi.
"G.I.G. Beginning material placement.", said Donna while slowly placing the material onto the ground.
"Alright Donna, get out of there immediately!", ordered Sakomizu once Donna managed to place the material onto the ground.
"G.I.G", Donna responded before he left the site.
"Gun Loader, Gun Tornader is heading your way. Begin cleaning process once you're finished.", ordered Sakomizu.
"G.I.G.", Mizuka who was the member on duty responded.
"Now, we'll wait for it to arrive. Once Gabora arrives, open the protective capsule and emit the magnetic crate.", said Sakomizu while observing the situation through the computer.
Moments later, Gabora finally emerged on the scene, seemingly looking for its food. The members patiently waited for it to reach the capsule. In the meantime,
"Konomi-chan, contact GUYS International. Contact them if they spotted other Gaboras throughout the nearby zone.", said Sakomizu before Konomi went on to contact the headquarters.
"They haven't spotted any other Gaboras besides the current one.", Konomi reported right after the contact.
"Now, let's wait until it got the bait.", said Sakomizu.
After a long 15-minute wait, Gabora finally got the bait.
"Now, open the capsule.", ordered Sakomizu to the responsible staff. The capsule was opened and Gabora started to consume it.
"Summon Aqua Windom!", ordered Sakomizu.
"Realize."
The newly upgraded maquette kaiju appeared on the scene with its new Cryogenic Cannon in its hand.
"Windom! Fire the Cryogenic Cannon!", ordered Teppei through his Memory Display. Windom immediately followed his orders by firing the particular cannon towards the enemy. Windom would run around it to spread the freezing effect throughout the body.
"Gabora's fully covered! Proceed with the next plan!", said Teppei right after Windom managed to do its service.
"Anti-gravitational plate, activate!", said a staff while activating the anti-gravitational plate that was placed right above the site in space. Once the staff pushed the activation button, a GUYS Spacy satellite would fire the charging ray towards the plate. Later, the plate would emit an anti-gravitational ray towards the frozen kaiju. Once the ray had covered the magnetic field, the field would start floating.
"Close the opening below!", ordered Sakomizu before the magnetic field emitter started to move towards each other. Once they're close enough, the field would slowly be separated from the emitter as it would become a 'portable' moving field.
The field would continue floating until it eventually got launched by the plate and almost reached the Raiton-66 'bomb sky'. Since then, things went horribly wrong as suddenly Gabora got unfreeze.
"What is this?! Gabora's managed to get out of the ice cover!", said Teppei who witnessed it live through the computer. Gabora would start panicking and later would fire its Radioactive Spit towards the magnetic field. The Radioactive Spit would cause the field to be out of the emitter's trajectory. The field disappeared. Things got worse when unknown energy suddenly teleported Gabora towards the atmosphere and the kaiju would fall towards Earth.
"Gabora's falling in full speed!", said Teppei right after he saw the kaiju suddenly teleported.
"Attack team, you're up! Plan A's failed!", ordered Sakomizu.
"G.I.G.", the captain responded. "Suits on, guys! Plan A's failed. We're heading there.", said Ryu while putting on his MAGNUS Gear.
Once Gabora landed awkwardly on Earth, it would start moving towards the command center. The attacking team had begun their move simultaneously. However, when Eiji's on his way towards the kaiju, he had encountered something.
"Oy, I've found something here!", said Eiji.
"Now's not the time, Eiji-san! A kaiju is moving towards here! We gotta move!", said the annoyed Haruzaki who saw Eiji stopped moving forward. Eiji, on the other hand, would neglect his orders as he continued to analyse the cloth.
"This… This is the same cloth I've found yesterday!", monologued Eiji before he compared both clothes to confirm it. He tried to measure the radiation level of both clothes. "The radiation levels are just the same!", monologued the surprised Eiji. At that same moment, Gabora would fire its Fire Pulse towards Eiji who stopped moving right after he found another cloth.
"Eiji-san!!!", warned Haruzaki towards Eiji. However, he was too late as the Fire Pulse managed to land right in front of Eiji causing a huge impact on him. Haruzaki tried to move towards him before Eiji who miraculously survived stopped him.
"Go! Just go! Don't care about me! Just go!", said the grounded Eiji. Later, Haruzaki would leave him unwillingly.
As the GUYS members were rampaging their way towards Gabora, a black entity suddenly flew across them. Thus, stopping them from moving. As it turned out, Onyx Mebius had arrived at the scene.
"Onyx Mebius has arrived at the scene! Now, he's confronting Gabora!", reported Teppei.
The titan and the kaiju began their showdown. Onyx Mebius managed to attack it rapidly as it suddenly was on the defensive side. The titan wouldn't waste any chances to attack it. Even, when the kaiju's down, he wouldn't stop raining punches to it. As the kaiju was pushed to its 'limit' at the time, Onyx Mebius would regroup before he started the finishing sequence for his finisher.
At that exact moment, Mirai would detect something through the radar.
"A wave has been detected through my radar!", said Mirai.
"Is it another Gabora?", asked Ryu.
"No! The wave reading is completely different from Gabora's!", said Mirai. At the same time, Haruzaki saw a cloud of black smoke coming from their north.
"Hibino-san, look at that!", said Haruzaki while looking at the black smoke.
"Teppei-san, did you see that?", asked Mirai while showing the live footage to Teppei.
"Black smoke? But, why?", wondered Teppei before he started to use his kaiju expertise. Moments later, he realised something. "That is not black smoke! That's poison gas!", said Teppei while looking for something through the computer. As soon as he found what he's looking for, he immediately reported to the attacking team.
"Attack team! Avoid that poison gas! That is not regular black smoke. That's poison gas! I repeat that 'black smoke' is poison gas!", urged Teppei. The attacking team immediately retreated from the poison gas.
Onyx Mebius on the other hand, would stop charging his powers, as he felt curious about the poison gas at the time. He immediately paid attention to it since then. Meanwhile, the chief inspector and the other staffs were still confused about the poison gas.
"Teppei-kun, what's that black gas? Where did it come from?", asked the adjutant.
"The black gas is no ordinary gas. It's poison gas. And, the only creature to be ever recorded that has the ability to emit this amount of poisonous gas is…", said Teppei while waiting for something. As it turned out that the poison gas was emitted by Kemular.
"Another kaiju?! What the heck just happened here?!", said the shocked adjutant.
"Document SSSP (3SP) has a similar species recorded! Registry code…", said Konomi.
"…Dokugasu Kaiju (Poison Gas Monster), Kemular.", added Teppei.
"What on earth happened here?! That black titan was about to defeat a radioactive kaiju, and now, a poison gas kaiju?!", complained Toriyama.
"Maybe it's because you're behaving too toxic lately, adjutant.", said Maru. Toriyama who realised what he said to him, immediately hit him right to the head.
Both Kemular and Gabora immediately rampaged towards the black titan. Onyx Mebius would struggle on handling both kaijus as Kemular would emit its poison gas continuously while Gabora would use its 'mane' or 'armor plates', and its heavy hands to attack Onyx Mebius. At one moment, Onyx Mebius managed to separate himself from Kemular as he kicked Kemular far away from him, allowing him to focus on Gabora. However, things didn't go well as Gabora suddenly opened its armor plates, and immediately emitted the Radioactive Spit, hitting Onyx Mebius' face. That maneuver caused him to be grounded. At that exact moment, Kemular would jump onto the grounded titan, and attacked him straight away using its four legs. It also used its poison gas to weaken Onyx Mebius. As the titan started to show signs of weakness, Kemular instantly took the chance to stab Onyx Mebius' leg using its fork-like tip on its tail. Light particles would be released from the stabbed spot.
At the same time, as the members were retreating from the site, Mirai suddenly felt concerned about the fallen titan. After a moment of thinking, he suddenly turned back towards the site.
"Mirai-kun, where are you going?!", asked Marina.
"Onyx Mebius is in trouble. I can't just stand here doing nothing.", said Mirai.
"But, Mirai-kun…", said Marina who was hesitant to let him go. At that exact moment, she got hit by Kemular's energy bolt. Mirai immediately went on to check her.
"Marina-san, can you stand?!", asked Mirai while checking on her. At the same time, Mirai immediately reported to the captain. "Ryu-san, Marina-san is down! I repeat, she's down!", said Mirai.
"Dammit! Mirai bring her to a safe place! We'll cover you!", ordered Ryu.
"G.I.G. Hold on, Marina-san.", said Mirai before he carried her to a safe place.
As they arrived at a safe place, Mirai put her down below a tree and immediately took off her visor. And, then, he realised that her right forearm was bleeding. He immediately brought out a handkerchief and wrapped it onto the injured part. Out of a sudden, he gave her a Gomora Maquette Capsule.
"Where… are you going… Mirai-kun?", asked the struggling Marina while holding his hand to stop him from leaving her.
"Marina-san, I promised you before, right? I will carry out my duty as an Ultraman. I will try my best to protect as many smiles as possible. I will try my best to keep our promise!", said Mirai before he ran towards the site, leaving her alone.
"Keep fighting, Mirai-kun…", monologued Marina as soon as Mirai left her.
"MEBIUUSSSS!!!".
Mirai immediately changed into Mebius as soon as he's approaching the fallen Onyx Mebius.
"Mirai-kun has appeared at the scene! And, now he's confronting both kaijus!", said Teppei. At the same time, he was contacted by the captain.
"Teppei, what's the plan right now?!", asked the captain.
"I… I don't know! This is currently out of the initial plan!", said the panicked Teppei.
"Ryu, cover Mirai from behind! Don't let them reach the nearby neighbourhood!", ordered Sakomizu.
"G.I.G!", Ryu responded. "Alright, guys! Cover Mirai from behind! Don't even let them step afoot at the nearby neighbourhood!", commanded Ryu towards his subordinates.
"G.I.G!", all members responded.
Mebius, on the other hand, offered himself to help the fallen Onyx Mebius but the titan refused to. After that, he immediately changed his attention towards Gabora and Kemular with the help of the CREW GUYS members. Both kaijus fought hard, but the hero ravaged both of them. Mebius would conquer the first round as both kaijus got weakened by Mebius' rapid attacks. He didn't even use any light ray manoeuvres. As the kaijus got weakened, Mebius immediately walked towards the fallen Onyx Mebius. Then, he used the Mebium Healing Ray to heal Onyx Mebius' face. As soon as his face was healed, he would turn his attention towards the injured leg. However, when he was about to put out the healing maneuver to the leg, he would hear Kemular screaming in pain from behind. When he turned back, he was supremely surprised when he saw Kemular was being eaten by Gabora.
"Kemular is being consumed by Gabora!", said the startled Teppei.
"What did you say?! Didn't that kaiju only consume radioactive materials?", asked Toriyama.
"That's what I knew! But, I didn't know that it can be a carnivore!", said Teppei.
As soon as Kemular was fully consumed by Gabora, the remaining kaiju would finally open its armor plates, revealing a more-sadistic looking Gabora.
"Oy, what happened to its looks?! Gabora looks completely different from our documents!", said Ryu.
"It looks scarier than before…", said the terrified Yuko.
"It must have been upgraded by someone…", said the chief inspector.
Powered Gabora would start to charge its power to unleash its finisher, Powered Uranium Beam towards Mebius. As soon as the finisher was unleashed, Mebius would summon the METEOR Armor CODE-1. The Uranium Ray however would hit something in the end. As it turned out, the Phoenix Armor would deflect the ray off his body. Eventually, the ray would hit the emitter itself. Since then, Mebius would take the chance to take down the kaiju. Mebius would conquer the showdown although the powered Gabora was much stronger than the regular one. Also, Mebius had ripped off the metal plates around Gabora's head before he kicked it away from him. As the powered Gabora was grounded, Mebius would start his finishing sequence. The Mebium Fenixer would be separated from the Mebius Brace as it would be an empowerer for Mebius' Mebium Shoot or, Empowered Mebium Lancer Shot. The subterranean titan began to flail about until the pain became too much. The kaiju fell limp, its eyes closing and life fading.
"Mirai-kun has won! Hooray!!!", shouted Teppei in excitement. The others surrounding him would join him as well except for Konomi and Sakomizu who seemed to be worried. "Konomi-san, what's wrong?", asked Teppei.
"Why hasn't the kaiju erupted yet?", asked Konomi.
"Hmmm… that's weird. It should have been erupted by now…", said Teppei while analysing the fading kaiju. As he realised, the fight hasn't been resolved yet. "What is this? There is an enormous amount of radioactive energy inside it! Once it explodes…", said Teppei.
"…it would be a huge catastrophe.", said Konomi. Coincidentally, the half-dead body of Gabora began to show early signs of eruption. Luckily, Mebius already knew what has to be done. He would carry the half-dead body on his shoulders and fly straight towards space.
"What is he doing?", wondered George.
As Mebius exceeded the atmosphere, he would use all of his strength to push Gabora towards the 'Sky of Bombs'. In the meantime, the members waited anxiously for Mirai's return from space as they didn't know what was his intentions at the time. Exactly five seconds later, they would witness light bursts came from the skies.
"Mirai…", said Ryu who was worried about his comrade. The others started to feel anxious about him not returning from space immediately. They were concerned that something might have happened to him.
Luckily, the red and silver hero would slowly land on Earth. Finally, the members were able to breathe a sigh of relief as Mebius would return as they wished for. The members could finally celebrate happily amongst them.
"Oy, Mirai! How dare you! We were worried sick about you!", shouted Ryu from below. Mebius would awkwardly scratch his head.
Instantly after that, Mebius would look towards the fallen titan who was grounded throughout the showdown as Mebius didn't manage to heal his leg on time.
"Go, Mirai! We'll wait for you! Be sure to come back home on time!", shouted Ryu as he understood that Mebius wanted to help Onyx Mebius. Mebius immediately took the chance to help him as he gained permission from Ryu. He would put the injured titan's hand over his shoulders and would fly away from the scene.
As they landed on an empty scene, Mebius and the injured titan would detransform on the same spot. After that, Mirai immediately looked for Onyx Mebius on the scene. Luckily, he managed to find a man with a black Mebius Brace, leaning below a tree in pain. Mirai would move closer to him.
"Hey, are you okay?", said Mirai who volunteered to check on him.
"You don't have to…", said the man in the black hoodie while preventing Mirai's hands from touching him.
"But, you're injured. Come on, let me have a look…", said Mirai who insisted to help him. Unexpectedly, the man would pay his kindness by pointing a Triger Shot towards him as he's mad that Mirai didn't even listen to him.
"Triger Shot… Who are you?", asked Mirai to the suspicious man.
"Why? Why do they choose you as their hero, Mebius? I fought a kaiju to be a hero like you.", replied the suspicious man.
"What are you talking about?", asked the confused Mirai.
"Do you really want to know who am I?", asked the man back. Mirai would be silent for a moment. "My name is Hazer. My main mission… is to be the greatest hero in the universe today.", added the man.
"With that kind of mentality, you will never be a hero.", said Mirai.
"Why? Do you consider yourself a hero?", asked the man back.
"I'm not the one who is suitable to answer that question. However, as I said, with a mind like that, you won't be mentioned as a hero. With a violent-focused mentality like that, the people would be scared to be with you. Being a hero is not just about defeating kaijus. Being a hero is also means that you're protecting the innocents and embracing kindness to all living things! That is what a hero is all about!", said Mirai.
"So, that's why you can't defeat kaijus many times before. Because you're soft. Kaijus has only one mentality, and that is to destroy whatever in front of it. It could be you... and it could be people around you.", said the man.
"Don't be too close-minded! Each creature has its own speciality. Each of them had their own attributes!", said Mirai.
"Being 'close-minded' is what keeps me alive for years. I got threatened a gazillion times before. Destroying each one of them… kept me alive.", said the man.
"You've got it all wrong!", denied Mirai.
"I'm the one who's going to take your place as the hero of Earth. The one who dares to challenge me… will face the consequences…", said Hazer.
"I'm sorry… but, your mentality… would never let you become a hero on Earth.", said Mirai. His statement would drive Hazer mad. Hazer immediately put out his Black Brace, and immediately brought out the Hazerium Slash towards Mirai. Mirai, on the other hand, would use the Mebium Shield to protect himself from the rapid attacks. After that, Mirai would his super-speed ability to move at a breakneck speed, confusing Hazer in the process. As Hazer was unaware of Mirai's presence at his back, Mirai would use the Ultra Pulse to pull the hoodie thus revealing his true identity.
"It's you…", said Mirai right after he witnessed the true identity of Hazer.
