Chapter 663: 624. Madara Shinden: Rival of God of Shinobi

The crystal release jutsu explodes near Madara, raising a cloud of dust and debris.
A smirk appears on the deputy chief's face.
"We got him good!" He remarks.
"Don't lower your guard yet!" The chief shinobi grips the handle of his earth hammer and nervously glances at the dust cloud.
Swirl… Swirl…
Suddenly, a massive amount of wind chakra swirls within the dust cloud. The wind pressure blows the dust away, revealing Madara.
A small blue summoning seal is glowing on his left wrist.
The earth shinobi duo quickly recognizes it as a special tool summoning seal.
'He still has enough chakra to use a C-rank jutsu? Is the drug not potent enough?' The expression of the chief shinobi turns ugly.
Swish…
Madara holds a giant non-folding fan made of wood in his right hand. The surface of the fan flickers with a faint greenish hue of wind chakra.
"Not good!"
Suddenly, the expression of the chief shinobi turns grim.
"QUICK! BRACE YOURSELF!"
He yells to warn his teammates.
The chief shinobi slams the giant earth hammer in front of him to erect an earth wall. He crosses his arms in front of his chest and head.
Meanwhile, the deputy chief also senses something amiss. He swiftly encases his body in a purple crystal and the massive crystal dragon also wraps around the purple crystal.
"UCHIHA DEFLECT!"
BOOM…
A powerful burst of compressed wind chakra explodes from the glowing surface of the giant fan. The powerful blast turns into a massive tornado and blows away the nearby buildings, ground, and earth walls.
Several small wind blades wheeze past the streets, slicing everything in their vicinity.
The scales of the massive crystal dragon fall off from the attack of numerous wind blades and several cracks appear on its surface.
The earth armor of the chief shinobis is also chipped away, inflicting several cuts on his exposed skin.
Argh…
He grits his teeth and reinforces his armor with more chakra.
Whoosh…
Madara's counterattack lasts for a few seconds before fading away.
Bang… Bang… Bang…
The flying dust and debris fall to the ground, raising a small dust cloud.
"You are more resilient than my expectations!"
Madara slowly walks out of the dust cloud with the Uchiha Gunbai on his shoulder. Despite his beaten-up state and several battle wounds, Madara has a huge grin on his face.
HAHA…
"It has been a while since I fought to my heart's content in a battle. This is it! This is the thrill of the battle. Come, let's dance to our heart's content."
Madara infuses some chakra on the sole of his feet and jumps towards the giant crystal dragon.
Whoosh… Swish… Swish…
The deputy chief waves his hand and fires hundreds of crystal shards towards Madara.
Hah…
Madara swings his gunbai and creates a small wind blast to deflect the incoming attacks. He avoids the remaining crystals as they shoot past him.
'As I suspected, his Kekkei Genkai can instantly crystallize any physical object, but it has no effect on chakra or anything infused with chakra.'
Clang…
The deputy chief creates a crystal sword to block Madara's strike.
Haah…
Madara applies some force in his attack and pushes the shinobi back.
Crack… Snap…
The already-tattered crystal dragon shatters into several fragments under Madara's attack.
Meanwhile, the chief shinobi also recovers from the previous attack.
"Everyone, attack him together!"
He signals to his subordinates to launch an all-out attack on Madara.
The deputy chief attempts to block Madara with another rain of small crystal spears, but Madara easily deflects them with his gunbai.
"Damn it!" The deputy chief grits his teeth.
'I can't use my full strength since half of my chakra is being used to maintain this crystal barrier.'
"Attack!"
"Don't let him escape!"
Several earth shinobis flood toward Madara to overwhelm him from all directions. The chief shinobi also uses this opportunity to land a blow on Madara.
The chief shinobi's arm suddenly inflates because of the infusion of a large amount of chakra. Veins pop out on his arm from the extreme stress on his muscles. A layer of earth chakra coats his arms, further bolstering his strength.
"DIE!"
The chief shinobi's fist rapidly enlarges in Madara's vision.
"It has been a while since I fought several enemies like this. The last time I remember is when Izuna and I were surrounded by several members of the Senju and Uzumaki clan."
A memory flash past Madara's mind. Madara's expression turns somber as it reminds him of his late little brother.
Clench…
Madara grasps the handle of Gunbai. He raises his head and confronts the incoming hoard of earth shinobis.
He wipes some blood from the corner of his mouth and swipes it across the surface of the Gunbai. Madara's blood activates a fuinjutsu seal on the Gunbai's handle. A large amount of chakra gathers across its surface.
The Uchiha Gunbai is an ancient artifact passed down in the Uchiha clan since the era of the Sage of Six Paths. It's made of an unknown spirit wood with the ability to absorb, store, and release chakra. The unknown spirit wood can also absorb any sort of chakra nature and release it as wind chakra. Only the blood of an Uchiha can activate the seal on Gunbai.
The surface of Gunbai glows with a greenish hue, a sign of a large amount of wind chakra.
HAAH…
Madara raises and points the Gunbai towards the sky.
"Secret Art: Fūjin Gekido," (Fury of Wind God)
He swings the fan down. The chief shinobi's massive rock fist was only a yard away from him.
BOOM…
A powerful wind blast erupts with Madara as the focal point. The powerful wind pressure creates such a destructive force that it blows away everything in a wide conical area in front of Madara.
The ground caves in front of him, and everything, including buildings, rock, dust, debris, and even the earth shinobis, are blown apart by the force.
The deafening wind blast rattles the ear of the faraway shinobis. The powerful force of the jutsu destroys an entire area of the earth labyrinth in front and sends shockwaves across the ground. It travels even further and strikes the surface of the massive crystal dome prison.
Rattle… Rattle…
Only after striking the surface of the crystal dome does the wind blast disperse. It scatters into several small wind blades that wreak havoc in its surroundings.
Crack… Snap… BANG…
Several cracks quickly spread across the surface of the massive crystal dome. Some of its fragments fall from the sky.
"You've got to be kidding me!"
The shinobis responsible for maintaining the massive earth prison gasp in shock.
"That's… that's Hisui sama's unbreakable barrier. It-it shattered! There is no way!" They stare at each other with fear and shock.
"Is this the power of the rival of the God of Shinobi?" The tales of Hashirama Senju's power are widely spread throughout the entire world. However, not much is known about Madara, except he fought and lost against Hashirama.
Splash… Splash… Splash…
The flesh, blood, and organs of the earth shinobis rain down on their comrades, creating a traumatic scene. This terrifying moment sends chills down their spine.
"No-no way!"
Terror crawls across the hearts of some frail-minded shinobis as the remnants of their comrades splatter in front of them.
The aftereffect of Madara's technique slowly fades away, but the rain of blood and gore continues.
The shinobis in front were the first to brace the impact of the jutsu. The sheer pressure and the cutting force of the wind blast instantly blew away their body to bits and pieces despite their protective armor.
Only a few lucky shinobis in the rear who were stranded too far could survive, albeit with severe wounds or missing limbs.
Madara's attack not only blew away the poison mist but also hammered down the massive crystal prison with enough force to shatter it into fragments.
"Mm-y barrier!"
The deputy chief's eyes turn hazy as his most prized technique shatters in front of his very eyes. There are several cuts across his body because of several miniature wind blades. His armor and clothes are in tatters and the crystal wall in front of him shatters.
BANG…
Suddenly, a massive earth boulder smashes in front of him.

Chapter 664: 625. Madara Shinden: Deep Grudge
"C-chief!"
Ugh…
The chief shinobi grunts in pain. The thick earth armor around his body shatters, revealing his tattered body. His left shoulder was blown apart, revealing his collarbone and ribs.
Cough… cough…
The chief shinobi coughs some blood.
"C-chief!"
The deputy quickly seals and uses the crystal release to seal Chief Shinobi's wounds to prevent bleeding.
"Are you okay?" He inquires.
"Madara, he… he got us good!"
The chief shinobi glares in Madara's direction.
"And as for him…"
The chief shinobi's expression turns fierce as he glances at the cloaked shinobi in the distance.
"Hisui, carry me to a medic-nin!"
"Yes, chief!"
Hisui, the deputy chief, quickly carries the chief shinobi away from the battle.
Huff… Huff…
Madara also breathes heavily after releasing such a powerful attack. The glow on the Gunbai's surface fades away and it returns to its previous unassuming appearance.
"With the last attack, I have used up every ounce of stored chakra in the spirit wood. It will take a few years for it to be restored to its former state. This attack also drained me of all my stamina!"
Madara uses the Gunbai to support himself and slowly retreats towards a broken boulder to rest.
On the other side of the battlefield,
'I didn't expect Madara Uchiha to be such a tough opponent. Even with his chakra in disarray, he can still hold his own against several elite shinobis and can even battle a rare crystal release Kekkei Genkai user.' The cloaked figure mutters.
He pays no heed to the plight of earth shinobis in front of him.
"You bastard!" The surrounding earth shinobi's expression turns ugly at the sight of their chief.
They surround him and get ready to deal with him.
However, a smile appears on the cloaked figure's face.
"It's done!"
A glint flashes across his eyes.
"Genreigan: Amanojaku,"
Shiing…
Madara, who is in retreat, suddenly freezes at a spot.
Suddenly, a massive Oni-like creature with two sharp horns appears in Madara's mindscape.
"This is…"
Shiing…
The massive Oni slowly opens his eyes, revealing a pair of massive blue eyes with a ripple pattern.
"M-my body!"
A lump of darkness slowly crawls over Madara's body, paralyzing him on the spot.
"It's him!"
Madara recalls his previous encounter with the strange man.
"Your struggle is futile!"
A cruel smile appears on the massive Oni's face, revealing its pointed teeth.
"Now, get consumed by your sins!"
Madara attempts to resist, but several dark hands erupt from the shadows and immobilize Madara's body. The Oni closes its mouth and swallows Madara.
"Finally, I can exact revenge for my clan!"
The cloaked man slowly removes his hood to reveal his figure.
There is a diagonal scar across his face, and his deep blue eyes shine with an eerie light. The earth shinobis who were about to attack him are frozen in a place.
"I have been waiting for this moment for so long."
The cloaked man ignores the earth shinobis around him and slowly walks towards the battlefield.
"All the hatred, all the anguish, all the cruelty, the Uchiha inflicted on us, I shall repay it all!"

A very long time ago,
In an era following the demise of the Sage of Six Paths, several of his disciples scattered across the world to spread his teachings of Nishu- the creed of chakra, humans, and harmony.
Most of the Sage's disciples spread throughout the world. Some of them married and founded clans to continue the Sage's teachings to the next generation. With the peace restored, the world slowly began to recuperate, rejuvenating its lost vitality and energy. The Nishu spread to every corner of the world and eventually, humans learned to utilize their chakra.
However, this peaceful era didn't last for long. Evil forces were lurking in the shadows, biding their time to engulf the entire world in chaos in one fell swoop.
The outbreak of demonic forces was so sudden that it caught the world unprepared. The evil forces swept through the entire world, ushering humanity into another dark age.
Millions of lives were lost to counter the terror of demons. After suffering several losses against the evil forces, the various clans and families of the sage's disciples finally banded together.
For the sake of the world, they broke the solemn vow to never use chakra for violence. And thus 'Ninjutsu', an art deemed dangerous by the Sage himself, resurfaced.
With these newfound Ninjutsu techniques, the hidden potential of chakra and humanity was unlocked. With the power of the Ninjutsu, humanity fought back against the demons.
With several disciples united together, humanity finally saw a glimmer of hope. Several notable clans from different nations stood out and pushed the demons back.
Finally, after hundreds of years of relentless human persistence, the demons were vanquished and peace was restored to the land. Humanity finally emerged as the victor. With human tenacity and determination, the demonic forces were repelled and sealed. Thus, the Great Demon War Era ended.
Humanity celebrated its victory against the evil forces and finally welcomed peace. Alas, this peace too was short-lived.
With the power of Ninjutsu in hand, a few humans realized the potential and benefit of power. They craved more for this taste of power and this craving slowly turned into an obsession.
With their great powers, these humans stood out from the rest. With such power in their arsenal, they began to compete for more land, money, resources, and more power.
However, with the lack of resources and the shared common interests between people in power, disputes, and strife were bound to happen. Thus, began another era of violence and chaos.
Over a century, several in-fights broke out between humans. Humans with the chakra oppressed humans without it. Slavery, forced labor, exploitation, violence, murder, and several other inhuman atrocities resurged; this time among fellow humans. This oppression lasted for centuries until the scale of injustice reached a tipping point.
Finally, a war broke out between the two sides. However, the weak and powerless were no match against the Ninjutsu. With the feelings of compassion and cruelty, rifts begin to appear among the humans with power. Their group broke into three factions, the conservatives, the liberals, and the radicals.
The radicals openly opposed the conservatives, while liberals secretly supported the revolution.
After much bloodshed, the oppressive era ended with the victory of radicals. A set of rules and a moral code of conduct were introduced to restrict the people with power.
Thus, the very first shinobis came into existence- a human who weaponized chakra to use Ninjutsu techniques and followed a certain code of conduct for the welfare of humanity.
Any shinobi who breaks this code of conduct will be ostracized by the entire world and will be hunted down till their death. This code of conduct served as a sigh of relief for common people since it forbids the massacre of common folks as a taboo act.
Without the threat of shinobis, the common folks slowly rose to power. They competed amongst themselves to achieve balance. The existence of shinobis was almost forgotten. However, this era of peace was short-term.
The greedy nature of humanity strikes again. Several small nations in power waged war against each other. At first, these battles only included the common folks with no great power. After continuous defeats, a few nations were reminded of another great power from their ancient records.
These nations searched for hidden shinobi clans to seek their aid. Initially, several clans refused to participate in mortal affairs because of the Shinobi code of conduct.
However, a desperate few shinobi clans; forced by their circumstances, be it the lack of resources or search for better opportunities; agreed to partake in the battle. These shinobis justified themselves with the reasoning that, since it was a war, the soldiers were prepared for death.
Thus, the shinobi clans became their tool for battles and then began another era of the endless cycle of viciousness and violence- The Warring States Era.
Local lords will wage war over minor disputes, be it land, resources, or women. The several shinobi clans served as mercenaries and the battlefield between the various lords became the perfect place for them to hone their skills. The battle of nations became the battles of shinobis clans.
Among several such shinobi clans, the Uchiha clan was one such powerful clan with an ancient history dating back to the era of the Sage of the Six Paths.
The Uchiha clan, with their powerful spiritual ability and bloodline, rose to prominence. The bloodline ability-Sharingan of the Uchiha clan made them a fearsome opponent for the other clans.
They accepted one mercenary mission after another.
However, such a powerful clan wasn't without its rivals. Another powerful clan, the Senju clan, stood toe to toe against them and suppressed their oppressiveness.
Thus, if a certain lord hired the Uchiha clan, then their enemies would hire the Senju clan to counter them. Over several decades, this rivalry turned into animosity among their members. The animosity shaped into a grudge and the grudge morphed into hatred.
For a time, the Uchiha and the Senju clan stood on equal footing with neither side gaining an advantage. The deadlock lasted for several years until something unexpected happened.
