Chapter 51: Soul beast

The crab mom kept trying to defend herself, but it was all hopeless. The scorpion soon pierced her with its tail and she could feel how it was injecting poison into her. At this moment she knew that the fight was over.

She started to feel weaker and weaker, till her eyes shut down. The poison of the scorpions was simply too terrifying she had no way to defend against it. But even though she was breathing her last breaths she was still very happy.

She was happy because she had given her children enough time to run away. The scorpion wouldn't be able to hunt them down anymore.

With those thoughts she closed her eyes forever, awaiting her death. She couldn't see anything but she could feel how her soul was leaving her body. She was surrounded by darkness, but she had a feeling that a certain place was calling for her.

She flew through the darkness and it felt like she was flying forever. But she didn't give up, she had to reach that mysterious place that was calling for her, it was giving her hope. It felt like all her problems would be solved as long as she reached that place.

So, she kept flying, not daring to stop in fear that the mysterious place would disappear. It was her last hope, she feared to be stuck forever in this eternal darkness if she didn't reach that place. She had to reach it no matter what. She had died but that didn't mean she would be willing to give up.

And finally, she had reached that place, between all of the darkness she could see a small light. This light was surrounded by eternal darkness, but it didn't dim down. It was like if that light was fighting the darkness that was surrounding it. This was an astonishing sight; it was like seeing a fire deep in the ocean. This light shouldn't exist, but it was there and it was giving her hope.

She didn't know how long she had been in this eternal darkness; it could have been a minute or a hundred years. There was simply no concept of time in this darkness, but that was okay because it was finally over. The crab mom had found a light…

The scorpion was meanwhile outside getting ready to eat the crab mom's body when her body suddenly disappeared. The scorpion was complete in shocked by this, its meal had just turned into thin air.

Was that even allowed? Shouldn't corpses behave and not move and let themselves be eaten? How come this corpse refused to be eaten and suddenly disappeared, that wasn't what corpses normally do.

The scorpion felt like it had encountered an extremely important mystery. Its curiosity was peaked and it swore to itself to solve the mystery of the disappearing corpse. It immediately searched for other prey to kill and see if its corpse disappears.

Sennua pov

Sennua slowly woke, up she was in a cave and she felt extremely weak. She couldn't move at all; it was like if all her energy had been drained. It was an extremely terrifying feeling to suddenly lose your ability to move. But luckily Sennua knew that it was only temporary.

She didn't know what had happened and how she had survived. But she hoped that everyone was ok. She had been able to escape this dangerous situation and she hoped that the others would be able to do the same.

At this moment she suddenly heard a ringing sound and a thing of her system popped up.

Sennua was perplexed by all of those notifications, especially about the last part and it saddened her to read that the crab mom died. And it hurt her, especially that the crab moms' body was used to refine her body. It felt terrible like if a good friend of yours died and then you notice that you can suddenly live 50 years longer thanks to their death.

She felt extremely guilty about gaining strength from the death of the crab mom. But then she thought about the question that the system was asking her. She didn't know what a soul beast was but maybe if she chose that option then the crab mom would have another chance at life.

So, she chose the option to turn the crab mom into a soul beast. She didn't know if that was the right option but it was the option that gave her the most hope.

Sennua was disappointed when seeing this, it really seemed like this would take a while. She had hoped that she would soon find out the answer if she had made the right choice. But it didn't seem like that she would find that out anytime soon.

Suddenly she noticed that a bear was staring at her, she hadn't noticed earlier because she was distracted by the system but now, she saw the bear clearly. And she was absolutely terrified, she wanted to run away but she couldn't.

It was probably easy to imagine how terrifying it was to encounter a bear when you were completely unable to move. Countless thoughts went through her head like if she would die here. Or if the bear was maybe blind and just coincidentally looking in the same direction.

Just at this moment the bear opened its mouth and said: oh, so you are finally awake.
