Chapter 49: Return of the nice Bear
The crab children were scared, they wanted to run back and help their mom. But none of them dared to go against their mom's command. And deep in their hearts they knew that they would only get in the way if they went back.
But because of the panic all the crab children forgot about the goblin. None of the noticed how the goblin suddenly lost consciousness. So, they left the goblin behind, too scared to notice that someone was missing.
Bear pov
The bear often walked around the river, she liked the view, always near a water source. But this time she saw something that she didn't expect, she saw a bunch of crab children surrounding a big crab that was probably their mom.
The crab mom looked terribly wounded, but the crab children didn't give up instead they tried their best to save their mom. The bear looked at those useless attempts of the crabs to save their mom and it broke her heart.
She once had children to, but she lost them. Or rather they were killed, this world simply wasn't something for children. A moment of distraction for the mom could mean the death of her children. In a world like this full of predators it was simply a foolish dream to expect that all your children would grow into adults.
But sadly, none of them survived, not a single one. Since then she always became weak when she saw children. Seeing children reminded her of her own children and she became weak minded.
She was just about to go to the crab children to help them, when she saw a goblin approach and talk to them. She got closer to hear their conversation and she was happy about what she heard; the goblin was able to give hope back to those crab children.
But the bear knew that such a travel would be extremely dangerous for children. So, she decided to follow them, she carefully walked behind them while keeping enough distance to prevent that she would get noticed.
But then the terrifying thing happened, the group of crab children ran into a scorpion. The bear was struck with sadness. Even she wouldn't be able to survive in front of a scorpion not to mention some children.
She looked at the scene full of despair as she saw how the scorpion walked closer and closer to the children. She felt how her heart was breaking by this sight. But she knew that she wouldn't even be able to slow the scorpion down if she went there to help.
But the something amazing happened, the giant crab mom that looked dead a few moments ago suddenly got up. The bear couldn't believe this she thought the crab mom was already dead, but it seems the will of the crab mom to save her children was stronger than the call of death.
The bear saw how the crab children started running away and she smiled. Now with their mom here they would have a chance to run away.
But then something bad happened, the goblin that looked fine a moment ago suddenly lost its consciousness and fell over. The bear was heartbroken at this sight, she didn't want to see the goblin die.
She decided to help and carry the goblin away while the crab mom distracted the scorpion. She slowly got closer to the goblin, while being careful not to attract any attention.
Crab mom pov
The crab mom towered with her amazing height of 30 feet even over the scorpion. But sadly, height wasn't everything, she knew that she wouldn't survive this fight. The poison of the scorpions was simply too dangerous.
Just a simple scratch could mean death, all the crab mom could hope to do was to give her children enough time to run away.
She looked a last time back towards her children before dashing madly against the scorpion. She wanted to wound it with a surprise attack. But the scorpion easily blocked the attack with its claw.
The fight had started.
