Chapter 2: Chapter 1

I've been constantly following a twelve-year-old girl for the past year. I'm already used to sorcery by now. I still kept going back to the last conversation between Alveera and me.

"You'll have to look at your new attire!"

"No thanks..." Elora already knew that she'll fall down that road once more if she ever saw her appearance again.

"You won't go down that path again, trust me," Alveera reassured her sincerely but for Elora, she knew that the beautiful woman just said that out of courtesy as everyone does. Besides, she's already sure of herself that she won't focus on appearance anymore.

"Oh! And one final thing... Never reveal your name" This was the final thing that Alveera said to her. Revealing one's name is like revealing one's weakness when it comes to spirits. Alveera said this to Elora to make sure that her friend won't make a mistake of trusting anyone easily as she had done in the past.

Elora left Alveera with a final goodbye and tried adjusting comfortably with her red attire. She doesn't know what she looks like and she doesn't plan on knowing. She woke up in space and somehow, knew what to do like it was natural. She knew that space was hers, the white void was for her to make.

After adjusting and making the white void as comfortable and simplistic, she peered out of the mirror. That was when she first saw the little girl, she was in a ball crying in the corner. She wore an elegant but worn-out dress. The glass that Elora was peering out from was on the ground.

"Why... Why won't you work! You said that you would appear, you said that you would be here in exchange for my soul!" Elora felt heartbroken at what the girl said. Even though she wasn't the one who tricked the girl on selling her soul, she felt guilty and sad, after all, who sell their soul just for company?

'She must've really felt alone.' I knew what to do like it was something that I have always done, I used sorcery to lift the mirror up and hand it over to her. She was still crying and didn't notice the mirror moving so I fetched the warm blanket in the corner and made it clean, the brown blanket became white as I separated the dirt from it. I wrapped it around her, she then raised her head and looked at the blanket then at the levitating glass.

The little girl expected it but at the same time, she was shocked that someone was actually listening. The girl gently held the mirror I was peeking through and looked into it. Though I know that she doesn't see me, she spoke to the mirror as if it were a person.

"Th-thank you." Now that the mirror's opening was even closer to the little girl, I noticed the scratch marks as well as bruises across her face and arms. It completely broke my heart.

'How do I bandage her wounds?' There wasn't any gauze, bandages, or creams around here. I started searching for something, anything.

'Is there like an enchantment or sh*t?' And as if someone heard her, thick book as large as her head, it was like a grimoire. There was also a note stuck on it.

'Be sure to familiarize yourself with it, dear!' She knew that it was from Alveera, who else would reply to her as if she's read everything she wanted to say?

"Ugh." Does she expect me to turn every page one by one? I'm too lazy for all that sh*t, come on! The book opened by itself and presented a page in front of me.

'Okay..?' It had a dark violet glow around it as it levitated. I started reading the contents, how the heck does this make sense? I put the thought away for the meantime and read about how to "heal" someone.

I started reciting as the book had told me, a faint dark glow slowly reached out the little girl.

The girl suddenly felt warmth, the dark glow coming from the mirror she was holding felt warm and cozy, it was like a lampshade providing heat during a cold night. She suddenly felt the cold area becoming warm, and her stiff muscles became relaxed. It was the nicest feeling she experienced. It was nothing compared to the first time she ate hot food.

Elora kept staring at her through the mirror after she recited a portion of the book. The wounds slowly disappeared and her skin became smooth.

"Hello, m- my name is Regina Grimhilde." Grimhilde? This sounded familiar to Elora, it wasn't a common name back on her world so it felt weird for her to feel familiar with the name. She shrugged it off and tried to find a way to introduce herself.

'Name...what should my name be?' I started wondering what name I should use. I looked out from the mirror and saw a thick layer of dust on the wall. I wrote the new name that I would be using. Regina looked at the reflection from the mirror, the dust behind her was being written on. She turned around and saw something written on it.

*It's a pleasure to meet you, you may call me Alisa.* I thought of my favorite character in T*kken and used her name. The little girl smiled at the mirror and talked to me.

"It's a pleasure to meet you as well." She nodded her head as if to acknowledge me. She slowly started to talk to me through the mirror, she fetched a pen and a paper so that I can communicate.

Her full name is Regina Grimhilde, a count's daughter. Regina was raised by her mother with love until she died of illness when Regina was only 6. The abuse of the count, step-mother, and step-sisters were unbearable for a child. It was amazing how she held on to hope for almost ten years. She had old scars that I removed. She would be turning 16 this coming month. It was supposed to be her coming-of-age ceremony but nothing was planned, instead, she was locked up in an abandoned tower. She asked me what I was, whether I was her fairy godmother.

'Fairy godmother? Aren't those from fairytales?'

*I can be what you want me to be.* It was natural for a child to look for someone they could rely on, it was painful for me to see her in such a state so I answered her with sincerity. She didn't ask about what I was anymore, the girl felt that she shouldn't ask anymore.

"What do you look like?" This question struck Elora and she was frozen in her place. After a few minutes have passed, the girl Regina thought that the spirit of the mirror was gone. She set the mirror on the tower window and faced it outside. The view was breathtaking, who would have thought that such a desolate place would have such a precious view?

"This is where I live, that castle there is where my family lives." The tone in Regina's voice had a tint of sadness and loneliness. The view before them brought a bright and light atmosphere as well as a melancholic and lonely feeling. There was no soul to be seen, no one was around. The tower was placed upon a hill, abandoned and dusty. It was overlooking a castle and a large field. There was a long dirt road that connected to the forest.

I wrote on the paper and asked. *Where does that road lead?*

"Oh, I'm sorry but, I don't remember. It must be connected to the main road." We can't see past the thick forest from up here, it was really vast and surrounded by mountains. I soon learned that this was the northern part of the Fourth Kingdom, sadly, Regina didn't know anything more than that. She wasn't properly taught subjects and only taught in etiquette and dance. The day was spent by talking and soon, it was already night time.

"I guess I'll have to endure it again." We were waiting for food to come, according to Regina, servants were supposed to bring her food three times a day, but she only gets to eat three times a week. I looked at her with conflicted eyes, I don't know what to do. There must be something I can do! There's a child starving here!

I didn't want to produce food with dark magic, I'm still not familiar with my magic to produce something from nothing. My eyes suddenly landed on the forest behind the tower, yes, we could do that. I wrote on the paper which got her attention.

*There are wild berries outside.* Her eyes became large from what I wrote.

"I can't go outside! I have to stay here." I flinched from her sudden burst of voice.

*Why?* She was hesitating to answer the question written on the paper.

"I...M-my mother told me to stay here...so when she comes back, I would be here." Her mother? Wasn't her mother already dead? According to Alveera, she lost her mother when she was 6, meaning she died. Didn't Regina know? The girl, which was too small for her age started to weep.

*I'm sorry.* I felt heavy, I caused her to remember her mother. Those bastards didn't even tell her that her mother died! The mother-daughter pair was abused, her mother was forced to marry the count, she was basically sold to the count to pay their family's debts. She was abused and after giving birth, was sent to this cold desolate place. Regina grew up knowing this as her home, this small room with only a fireplace, bathroom, and a bed.

'Alveera says that I can leave the mirror right? But can I touch and things when I'm outside?' I thought to myself. Well, there's no harm in trying right? I slowly got out of the mirror. I tried holding things but I couldn't.

'Sigh...wait.' I tried channeling the magic from the mirror towards me and the door.

*CLICK*

"Yes!" I exclaimed which no one heard. The click made Regina jump from her seat. I wrote on the paper to notify her.

*I'll be back in a minute,* In the eyes of the girl, there was as if a cold and strong wind that swept through her hair and out the door, the locked wooden door was opened and closed by the wind. Did Alisa go out? For what? Regina didn't know what the spirit of the mirror wanted to do. Elora found wild berries and fruits outside the tower as well as nuts and eggs.

'I should also get firewood.' There were only twigs left in the fireplace, they were supposed to be replaced every other day. 'Should I also catch an animal or two?' I looked at the innocent rabbit that was eating grass quietly...I hesitated for a couple of moments.' No, I can't do it.' I just turned my back and returned with a variety of fruits. I was carried by the wind like a paper and flew up the tower and entered the window. The fruits and firewood followed behind me and settled on a leaf.

The girl saw a variety of different fruits, some of them, she has never seen before. The pen lifted and it wrote on the paper.

*They're not poisonous.* For Regina, the spirit didn't have to assure her, she was so touched by what Alisa did.

She could eat, and could also keep warm for another few days because of her help. Regina teared up and couldn't keep herself from crying. Elora felt genuine sadness and pity for the Regina, this was all she could do, she couldn't even talk to her nor can Regina see her, this was Elora's only way of comforting her. She sat next to her and tried to hug her, but it was in vain as she only went through her. Regina knew in her heart that she can rely on this spirit, even though she can't see it, she knows that it will always be there... she already got attached.

The days were spent slowly, the time on the tower felt long and boring that when Regina fell asleep, I started looking around and setting safety barriers around the tower. I slowly got familiar with the limits of my ability. According to Alveera, the mirror was has a limitless power, it was originally a demon that uses dark sorcery and since I was the spirit that inhabited it, the power became mine and I can channel it without difficulty, the only limit is that the spirit gets trapped inside the mirror and can only go outside in spirit form for a limited amount of time depending on how far the mirror is. The mirror has the limitless ability but it doesn't have its own will and mind, it can only be channeled by a medium, which was me, a spirit, so that through me, the user can use the dark sorcery to his/her heart's content. When a medium is absent, the user will have a hard time accessing the full potential of the mirror.

I began to wander inside the count's castle. How could they live with luxury when there's a child starving up a mountain inside their property? They had different kinds of rooms that have no use, there was a painting from, no one was even painting from the looks of it, the room was dusty. I tried touching the objects and as expected, it just went through me. I tried to channel the dark sorcery from the tower and luckily, I can still do it. Though it took time to react, I slowly lifted the objects. Who would've thought that I'd still be able to use it" the mirror was kilometers away from where I was.

"Wait...that means." I suddenly realized something. Hah! I can do that after all! I spent hours bringing stuff in and out of the castle so it can be used for Regina's room. I did a full-on makeover. I had to put her in a deep sleep and that was when I worked all night, from replacing the plates, the cutlery, the mattress, and even cleaning the walls. I relieved her from sleeping and once she woke up, she didn't know what to say, she just cried and wailed which stunned me for a moment. She knew that I was the one who did it. This was the happiest birthday Regina will ever remember, the best day, the best memory she's ever had. Elora couldn't feel anything but genuine happiness, it was a wholesome moment for both of them. The two of them spent the day communicating with each other and eating fruits and enjoying the cleanroom. Elora spent the next two years with Regina without even realizing where she really was and what her situation really is, she spent those two years training her magic and teaching Regina spells and incantations she can do. Elora got to know that she can manipulate magic easily while Regina needs to go through her to access dark magic, she soon got used to feeling her commands or wishes.

After the two years of growing and learning was spent, Regina was going to turn 18 soon, Regina was excited to see what 'Alisa' really looks like whilst Elora, she was skeptical about everything regarding her appearance. It was a few weeks before Regina's birthday when she was summoned by the count. Sadly, she left me hidden under her mattress for fear that the count would see me. But I naturally became curious about why the count called for her so I followed her. I enjoyed floating rather than walking so I was always on Regina's side or floating above her. I have already memorized the small palace after one month's worth of wandering around. The wooden double doors to the dining area soon opened.
