Chapter 58: The Base

You walk mostly in silence back to base and you feel a certain relief filling your being. You're very happy that you'll be able to see Nita again and you need to check on a few patients. Nick is mostly talking to his teammates and ever so often he'll look your way giving you a soft smile. You would return the smile but you know that if you get to the base, whatever you had going on, will be something of the past.

A lot of thoughts are running wild in your head about Helena and how you cheated with Nick on her. How did you become the other woman? You've had moral values about cheating and here you find yourself the one doing the cheating. This makes you move even further away from Nick. 

One of the teammates comes to talk to you.

"Dr. McPherson, we are so glad that we found you. Everyone missed you back at the base"

"That's very nice of you to say, you are Ray, right?"

"That's correct mam"
