Chapter 47: I Am A Mess

LILLY POV

I hear every word that he is saying and I am looking at his body language and I know that he is completely defeated. I do not mind what he is telling me but how he is telling me. It almost looks like he has given up on something.

I am afraid that what I think it is is, is something that I do not want to happen. I know that he has gone through a lot in this past year and the kidnapping is just one of the things that made it even worse. I know all he needs right now is me but for some reason, he is keeping me at a distance.

He wants me to give up on him and that is why he is telling me about his parents. I can not help but feel a little bit of anger as I do not want him to leave me out of his heart. So, with a frown on my face, I answer him.

"Baby, what is going on?"

What is wrong with this woman? I tell her that my parents are working for the mafia and she does not even flinch.
