Chapter 100: Fortuitous

"You look horrible, mate." If it had been any other day, I would have snorted and said something similar to Ronald as we sat with our cups of coffee inside La Boutique.

Being inside the place was enough for memories to invade my mind and in an instant, thoughts of Avalyn had flooded inside my head. The ache inside my chest became prominent.

With her gone, I felt so empty. It was as if life had lost its meaning.

"I feel terrible too," I admitted, sipping from the cup of coffee, the hot liquid instantly pouring inside my mouth. I welcomed the slight sting on my tongue as the heat slightly seared it. It was nothing compared to the sharp pang inside my chest which was somehow making its way towards my very soul.

The depth of her absence was slowly sinking into me.
