Chapter 221: Goodbye

"Please, can you go faster? We need to hurry!" Bella urged the guard as they returned to Lumba, scared that they would be too late. All her efforts to reach Dan telepathically had been futile, making her very edgy and restless. 

She didn't know what to expect, but she knew that whatever it was, it wasn't a good thing. Why hadn't she thought of that? It explained why he kept wanting her to leave.

"No matter how fast we go, we won't get there until late at night," Luke explained, not understanding her sudden hurry to return. 

Bella grabbed the edge of her seat, trying to contain herself. She knew that even if he didn't die and they happened to return now, the chances of them remembering any of this were zero. Still, she didn't want to imagine him risking his life in that way. 

'Dan! Dan, come on, talk to me!' She pleaded as she fiddled with the ring, but there was no response.
