The next morning, Eru slowly blinked open. Bright morning light flashed on his face, almost blinding him. He blinked slowly and sat up. "What the hell? Aren't I supposed to be sleepless after such an experience? How could I sleep like a baby?" he mumbled, tenderly caressing the newly bandaged wound on his neck. "Thank fully I'm alive,"
'what would have happened if Deric was not next to me.' He gulped at the thought "I have to thank him properly," he whispered resolutely.
Eru slowly rolled out of bed. Both his legs were swollen and aching badly. Even his hands were not spared they both were pink and aching. "Can I take a break from training? I don't think my body can handle anymore," he mumbled, stretching his hand and hips.
He slowly hopped over next door. But Deric was not there. She glanced out the window to find everyone already lines up in front of the porch. Her master/uncle was standing next to a nearby tree with his back to the house. "Shit, I'm late," he dashed out.
Eru slowly crept towards the line and stood next to Deric.
Deric glanced down with his dazzling smile. "Slept well?"
"hmm, I did, thanks for yesterday," he whispered, nudging him with his elbow.
"you! You come here," Lumian said out loud without even glancing back.
"Me?" Eru mouthed, glancing at the others.
"Yes you, come forward,"
'I'm so dead, he's gonna make me practice until my arms and legs break off!' Eru whined internally. He slowly walked forward and stood next to his uncle. Gulping, Eru stood alone, shuffling his feet anxiously. "uncle, you see, I was so tired from yesterday's training so I did not wake up on time and also that assassin tried to...."
"I know."
Just two words from him silenced Eru.
Glancing at him anxiously, Eru whispered, "Then...can I skip training today? My legs and hands are swollen so badly I can barely walk." He internationally faked a limp in front of him.
Lumian turned back and threw him a sceptical glance. He then scoffed softly. "Others, go do your training, Eru, you go get your book," he said subtly, raising his eyebrows.
"what book,.... ohhhh that book! I will bring it," Eru cheerfully jumped over to eth house.
Watching this, Lumian hid his smile with the back of his hands. 'Silly kid, his legs are completely fine. Looks like I fell for his fake limping,' he thought, shaking his head.
While the others were training intensely, Lumian took Eru somewhere else for his training. His magic training was not supposed to be a secret, but the maid hiding in the house kept peering at them suspiciously.
"Eru, your maid....what do you think of her?" Lumian said calmly as he sliced the branches from their path.
"hmm, she...is not that trustworthy," Eru finally said after a long time of hesitation. "I do not know who to trust and who not to."
"Do you trust me then?"
"I don't." Eru added, gazing up at him unblinkingly. "I really don't trust anyone other than my family and friends,"
"Friends? Is that Deric?...."
"Yes, he is a trusted comrade. Unlike you, uncle, he safeguarded me when I was in the most perilous situation. Oh might I add, the perilous situation you put me in," Eru said calmly and walked ahead of him.
Lumian soft chuckled. "Don't be angry, my nephew. You were never in imminent danger. I was always close b..."
"Really? Were you?" Eru snapped his head his way. He could not believe the bullshit this man was sprouting. "I am not a child uncle. I know that that woman could not have infiltrated to MY room if not for YOU allowing it. I—I understood. You do not like me. but—but....'sigh' I know why you accepted me as your apprentice. It's to kill me secretly in black forest and blame it on an accident, right?" he stepped closer to the taller man. He towered above his head, but some vain courage filled Eru's veins. He glared up at him and whispered, "you never intended to train me. Rather, you wanted me dead,"
Lumian stoically watched the raging kid in front of him. He silently clenched his fist and gazed down at him. "Maybe.....maybe that was my intensions. What would you be able to do about it?" he took a step forward.
Eru stepped back instantaneously, keeping at least a foot distance between them.
"Would you win if you fight me? Oh Eru, you made a fatal mistake. Do you realise your mistake, little Eru?" Lumian whispered and suddenly held a dagger to his now bandaged throat.
Eru's heart thudded. He glanced up at him with his eyebrows raised. "what?"
"You should not have confronted me so openly,"
