Erudite soared up the sky. It was quite windy, and so he hid behind his uncle's wide back.
His curious eye wandered around as far as he could see this was the first time he had left the palace. And it was fascinating. Being a prince was fun and all, but it has so many restrictions. And After the Aaorlin's attack, his parents always worried about safety so he was never allowed outside the castle tree.
The ginormous forest that he stayed in looked like a small head of a broccoli. They were that high, and the skies were very clear. He was able to enjoy this experience a lot. Soon their path started getting engulfed in fog.
The visibility was so less that even if you place your hand in front of your face, you might not be able to see anything except fog.
This brought an unknown fear in his heart. He silently clenched his shirt and held on tight. Least he causes any trouble for her uncle.
The sky was getting colder as well; thankfully his uncle's body was very warm, so he burrowed on his back.
Lumian gazed back and chuckled. "Cold kid?"
"Ye—Yes, very," he whispered with her stammering teeth. It was quite painful, but he clenched his jaw and held on tight.
Suddenly a tall tree appeared on their path. His Uncle suddenly banked right and flew past it. Soon many world trees appeared on their path. They looked enormous, even compared to his palace. They had an ancient touch to them as they softly swayed in the mild wind.
"Uncle..... those trees..."
"Yes kid, these trees have been here even before our kingdom was born. Only the royal castle belongs to this ancient forest. The forest surrounding Miriafa is just the new forest that was developed hundreds of years ago." Lumian said without looking back.
Their path was covered in huge tress head popping left and right. It was getting risky. Lumian gazed around and gestured to his mount to fly high.
Soon the fog cleared up, but what lay below they looked like a pit of smoke. Nothing could be seen. Not even the top of those ancient trees.
"Wow," Eru exclaimed, gazing down. It looked like his legs were just hovering over a smoky surface. But he suspected that they were flying thousands of feet high. He did not know how these people were able to tackle air pressure, but Eru barely felt any.
He chuckled and spread his hands wide. The calm wind gently caressed his face and swayed away his curly shoulder-length blond hair.
But suddenly the mount Illumi jerked. Eru grabbed onto his uncle's waist and gazed around. A low groan vibrated around the forestland, making the griffin reacted badly.
Lumian tried calming his mount, but Illumi was too agitated. "Hold on tight, Eru, we are descending," he shouted.
"Descending? Are we there yet? He whispered in shock. 'We have only been flying for just ten minute and we have already reached our destination? 'He thought as he pulled closer. But his legs were always dangling around without any foot rest.
At first he did not head to his word, but soon the huge griffin started descending at high speed. Because of the sudden descent, he started to fly up from waist down. His legs dangled behind him.
"Ahhhh Uncle I Am loosing grip.." he shouted.
Lumian gazed back and swore. He whistled softly, and the griffin slowed down.
Erudite grabbed onto his shirt and burrowed himself on his uncle's back. None of these steps could stop the feeling he got. That heart lurching feeling when you fall. That's how it was.
He couldn't hold in his scream anymore. "Ahhhh Uncle! Stop!" he shouted.
Lumian laughed out loud but still did not stop their descent. "Hold on, we are almost down to the surface,"
His casual attitude calmed down Eru, but still he was not able to tolerate the effect of the fall.
The huge griffin flapped his wings as he landed in a small clearing. Even finding a small clearing in this huge expanse of the forest was lucky.
As soon as they landed, Eru launched down and puked out all of his stomach's contents.
Lumian chuckled and patted his back. "Looks like you were raised delicately," he said.
Eru threw a small glare his way and wiped his mouth. 'Ah gods, my air sickness followed me to this world as well!' he thought. It can't be helped because he had always been air sick. Even while travelling by flight, he used to puke like crazy.
His uncle handed him a small travel sack of water. Cold water felt refreshing to his now empty stomach. He drank from it with relish.
"That was a ride, alright... where are we staying?" Eru whispered, gazing up at his towering uncle. He really wanted to just plop on his bed and let sleep take over.
Lumina gazed down and ruffled up his hair. "We are not there yet,"
"What!!"
