Chapter 29: clovers

chapter 28 | Hibi

I tilted my head back and scratched at the hand around my throat, desperately trying to get free. Adaora only tightened her fist around my neck. "You dare step foot in my domain after what you did?" She spat.

I tried to keep my gagging sounds at bay as she crushed my windpipe, knowing it would only give her pleasure. "I think it's best I kill you properly this time hmm?" She lifted me higher into the air, making my feet dangle as I twitched for oxygen.

My eyesight started to get blurry but she used her other hand to slap me hard across the face "No don't die yet, that takes all the fun out of it" My lungs screamed for air as she choked me painfully.

As my eyes started to roll to the back of my head she picked me up by my throat and threw me across the room. I gasped as my back hit the onyx marble wall and made a sickening crack. Pain erupted in my shoulders and my neck throbbed in agony.

I slowly picked myself up, trying my best not to provoke her. "Look at you, and to think I was going to put my title upon you're shoulders" She strode slowly to me, making sure to take her time "You're pathetic" She used her foot to kick my shoulder, crashing me back into the punishing wall.

I bite back the yelp of pain that threatened to spill from my mouth and slowly picked myself up until was on my knees in a crawling position. I could see Adaora's shoes standing next to my body but she did not make a move.

I felt her hand grab my ponytail and yank my head back before removing my hairband all together. My raven locks fell out of their restraints and tangled down my shoulders and onto the floor. She then grasped a fist full of my locks and pulled me up before sending a punch to my face.

"C'mon Hibi, fight back"

Don't listen to her, don't fight, don't fight I chanted in my head to stop myself from defending myself.

Don't fight back.

When she saw I wasn't doing anything she grew frustrated. She lifted me up slightly by the neck again, her fingertips bruising my already blue skin and she kneed me roughly in the stomach, sending me roughly back to the floor.

"I find it quite nice of you to willingly bring yourself to me on a bronze platter, knowing that I promised to you that if I saw you again I'd keep your heart as a souvenir in my throne room".

I clutched my midsection and let out a small whimper of pain before coughing up some blood that was pooling in my mouth. She once again grasped the side of my head before slamming it harshly into the side of the wall.

"I'm going to finish you off like I should've done all those years ago!" My head exploded in searing white pain as she snickered at my misfortune.

This time I fell limp to the ground as my head spun. I blinked back the darkness that was creeping at the side of my eyelids. Knowing that if I slept now the chances of me waking up were extremely slim.

She took my chin in between her fingers and made me look into her brown angered eyes. "You're going to wish you died that day ......." I felt weak as she whispered my birth given name into my ear. I felt numb as she stood up to her full height and loomed over my battered body.

I took a deep breath. If this is it, I just hope Irina gets to see him again, I hope Rico removes that stick up his ass and I hope Astrid dies right after me so we can meet in the afterlife.

Damn, are these really my last thoughts?

I closed my eyes as I felt myself losing consciousness. I wonder who will take me first, Adaora or the current shutting down of my mind. I let out a painful breath.

Fuck I should've fucked Caspian first.

The door burst open and Eucalyptus came rushing in with Caspian close behind her. My eyes snapped open as I was now wide awake. For fucks sake now I have to die knowing Cas is close behind me.

My eyes screamed at him to run as my mouth could not.

"MOM!"

"Lypy?"

Adaora turned her attention to her daughter and the dagger she was holding went limp in her arms. I didn't waste this moment as I was hit with a rush of adrenaline. Fuck I need to get out of here alive

I told myself I'd die on Diamond soil and I intend to keep it that way.

I slide myself over to the window in front of me and slipped out of it window silently, making my escape. I didn't wait to hear the rest of the conversation as I moved faster against the building and slipped into the first room I found.

I limped through it as fast as I could ignoring my injuries as much as possible. I raced across the room and flung open the door before making a turn to dash down the hallways. As I caught sight of the exit to the staircase I almost screamed in relief.

A loud whistle rung out behind me before a wall at the opposite end of the hall smashed to pieces. I looked behind me to see a large and terrifying Rhus, blood still coating her lips. She glanced at me temporarily before bounding into the next wall which I assumed her owner was in.

The cats out.

Fuck.

The stairs will take to long, I decided and made my way for the balcony that led to the walls that surrounded the castle. Guards stood at their posts at the end of each corner and as soon as they saw me coming they yelled at me to stop before bring out guns and swords.

I pumped my legs to move faster as they began to shoot at me. One of them got lucky and got me in the shoulder but that was the last time both of them did as I began to run irregularly. One ran out of bullets and started to make their way to me.

They swung their sword back and lunged for me. I blocked the blade with my arms shield and kicked them in the shin making sickening crack. I then swept my legs underneath him, taking him off his feet and slamming him into the ground.

His other companion came rushing towards me and I slide in between his legs. I jumped to my feet to face them and they snarled at me with their weapon outstretched and ran for me. He jabbed out to my left and I dodged the sword and grabbed his wrist and twisted it making him drop his weapon.

I twisted his arm behind his back and dodged his elbow that came flying for my face. He writhed in my grip but I kept my hold before letting go and wrapping my arms around his neck, I jumped on his back before using my knees to push flip him off me, effectively pushing him off the wall.

I winced to myself at his scream but continued running. The stables were on the opposite side from where I was so I still had a long way to go. I reached the corner and turned when a large explosion happened in the building I just left. I stared in shock as angry Rhus burst through the building, landing on his feet.

I paled a bit but calmed down when I noticed he was not chasing me. But I only paled when I realised the person who was on the other side of his wrath was a terrified Caspian, running for his fucking life.

Shit.
