Chapter 25: Attracted to you

"Why? What's wrong with my smile?"

"It...It makes my heart flutter..."

"What?"

"It makes my heart flutter!"

Startled at Dae Hyuk's bold answer, Yeon quietly stood still putting a frown face and sternly gazing straight into his eyes. Dae was clenching the metallic rod of the balcony tightly, with a nervous expression written all over his face, lowering his gaze down from him. He seemed strangely palpitated not be able to even look at his face, and fidgeting on his own.

"You must be really drunk..." Yeon smirked as if it was quite amusing to watch him getting all anxious.

"Yeah...I must be really drunk to blabber such nonsense..." Sulking his grimace, he quickly reciprocated.

Leaning his body a bit over the railing, Yeon was scanning him from head to toe, with a sly gaze towards him. After a moment of awkward pause between them, he shifted his gaze at the endless horizon above and chose to speak first, "don't worry about me, Dae."

"Who said I am worried about you?" Irked at his own confused state of mind, he chose to raise his chin up and glared towards him standing right next to him. But his eyes were immediately hooked as he noticed the divine charm Yeon was flaunting around himself under the starry quiet moonlight. The night breeze was wavering his dark smooth hairs and with such an elegantly crafted face, he looked like a prince of the dark!

"I have lived a long enough time among these humans in the earth. So...I don't even bother about my departure but I am happy that soon enough I will be discharged from my duties..." He asserted gently.

"Since how long you were living here?" Dae asked before leaned his physique putting an elbow over the railing. He was consistently sneaking glances of his ethereal aura and sounded much impertinent.

"It's been a long...a really long time that I have already spend here..."

"Were you been alone all this time?"

Suddenly, his sharp question flinched Yeon quite badly as he quickly escalated his look straight into his eyes, looking a bit anxious. Maybe the question triggered some unknown scars he bore deep down inside his heart and after a moment of intense eye contact, he chose to look away.

"I am a grim reaper. Beings like us are the... great sinners... All we deserve is to exist alone and atone our sins by guarding the souls to the afterlife... When...our divine punishment limit is finally monitored by the deities sitting up there, they set us free..." He pointed his long index finger towards the dark starry sky while interpreting in a sad voice.

"Wh-What great sin you have committed, Mr. Yeon?" Resembling a bit worried about him, he chose to reciprocate his query almost immediately.

"I don't think we are that close enough to discuss such personal kinds of stuff..." A cold, stiff answer flew back from him in return.

"Ughh, you are always too cold and stiff." Dae was looking annoyed with his response and sulked his jowls while whining.

His childish response quickly brought a wide chuckle on his sullen face as he glanced back at pouty Dae Hyuk, smirking on his own. "You always get offended too easily, Dae Hyuk--"

"Of course! Your cold attitude sometimes piss me off--"

"Thank you." Before he could finish off his sentence, Yeon mumbled his verdict with a deep huff of breath, standing tall and elegant under the radiating moonlit. His coat and hair were wavering his the night breeze which was growing quite stronger with each passing moment.

"Thank you? For...For what?"

"For being worried about my departure... You are quite younger than me but you seem to be really unique in your own ways... I had never imagined for once, I would accompany a human someday in my cursed life and you made it possible... You are quite problematic and hot-headed, but...you are a good person, Dae. Thanks to you, I got my lost name revived by someone again..." His deep soothing voice reverberated like an echo in the entire desolated area as they stood still.

"H-Hey, why does it sounds like a goodbye? Are you really leaving soon?" Perplexed with the thought, Dae was frowning his eyebrows while scratching the railing with an unknown palpitation rising inside his chest.

"Not now. Obviously, I will be assigned a few tasks before I could ascend back to heaven. So don't worry, you will be able to bother my peaceful life for some more time. Haha!" Yeon sounded a bit tipsy, as his cheeks were turning to flushed red while he was chattering with a wide smile towards him. He seemed to be smiling more often while he was drunk and alone with him, enjoying the majestic night view from the skyrise balcony.

Without uttering a word further in response, Dae chose to observe silently his wide smile which was quite rare to visualize, as he always tends to stick to his ice-cold with a poker face expression. Watching him all giggling and smiling, his heart started to have a strange pounding sensation as if a tingling feeling was rising inside his chest while they were standing close to each other.

"Damn... why does his smile seem so beautiful? Why does everything about him seeming so beautiful and attractive to me? Even his deep husky voice...it sounds so sexy..." Gulping down his saliva, he was wondering inside, clenching his fist hard on the metallic rod.

"Dae Hyuk?"

"I must be really going crazy! What am I even thinking? We are both men after all! How can I find him attractive? No...Should I just consult a psychiatrist? All these years of lonely life must have made me crazy..."

"DAE HYUK!!"

"Huh?"

Suddenly, the loud deep call from Yeon caused him to flinch hard reviving his senses back. Quickly he escalated his look towards him and swirled his pupils wider in shock! Yeon had brought his face extremely closer to him with a curious gaze in his eyes. There was about an inch gap between their pointed noses and Dae could almost sense his deep breath puffing over his face. His heart started to throb like crazy in such an intense moment unexpectedly happening between them.

"Wh-What? Why has he brought his face so closer to me? What does he intend to do? Calm down...please calm down my heart!" Flushed red in embarrassment he gulped his saliva unknowingly glancing at his cherry red lips which were just an inch away from him.

"Why weren't you answering me? Why are your ears turning all red, Dae?" Yeon seemed really tipsy, whispering close to him.

"No...No it's nothing...Why are you suddenly so close to me? You must be really drunk, Mr. Yeon--"

"You are quite...beautiful...Dae."

His deep voice caused a shivering sensation all over his body as he mumbled, staring straight into his big almond-shaped brown eyes. Dae lost in the moment, holding an uneasy heart pounding hard, he wondered on his own, "ughh my heart...why...why is he attracting me so bad? Why do I want to take advantage of his drunk stage? His lips...damn his roseate lips seem so appealing... No, Dae Hyuk! You mustn't take advantage of him in this state! I mustn't do this!"
