Gifts?
Isn't that the term they used to call their magics and powers?
"Yes father! I already manifested mine yesterday"
My brother David told our father who nodded his head proudly.
"So, would you mind telling us your gift?"
"Let's see..."
He directed his hand on a flower that looks like it will wither soon from the table and close his eyes. It seems like he is focusing his energy to it.
Suddenly, the flower was back from its appearance when it was first bloomed.
"Oh! So you can control flowers?"
Father was amazed by his gift. David shakes his head and tries to explain more to father.
"No...it's more like every type of plants, even trees but I can only do a bit"
David said with a hint of disappointment.
"It's alright, you can train your gift when you finally go to the academy! For now, it is only weak since you just manifested it"
Controlling flowers? Plants?
Lol, I think that's a bit girly for David! Hahaha!
"What are you laughing at?"
He gave me a sharp glare when he noticed me trying to hold my laugh.
"Oh nothing, brother!"
I brushed it off and gave him a cheeky smile.
"Father! Can I have my own gift too?"
Dahlia, my six-year-old sister asked father with sparkles forming in her eyes.
"Yes you can Dahlia, but usually...one can manifest their gifts at the age of ten"
Father explained to Dahlia that a gift is usually manifested at the age of ten years old which is the same age as David.
"Father, can someone manifest their gifts earlier?"
I asked. Better knowing than nothing.
"Yes it can! but that's really rare, one can manifest their gift even before reaching the age of ten but one must be controlled by their severe emotion...like being too happy, surprised or sad which can trigger their gifts earlier"
"Basically, your gifts can also be controlled by your emotions or how you focus...?"
I confirmed to father to which he nodded.
"Yes, my sweet daughter"
After that, father shows us his own gift which is super strength by showing us by demonstrating a rock and crashing it without effort using his hands.
He explained that every individual doesn't need to have a different gift, one can also have the same as the others like how his gift is the same as the late emperor.
Mother also demonstrated hers after father shows his is which is the gift of intelligence. She can memorize a whole book just by scanning it, maybe that's why she quickly memorized the book she was reading yesterday.
Hmm...
I wonder what's my gift going to be like? I feel quite excited somehow.
I hope my gift is powerful! Hehehehe!

In the afternoon, I have a class from my teacher, Lady Ranni.
"I'm glad you are alright now, lady Delie"
She greeted me after I entered the room she uses to teach me. She received the news that I'm sick for almost a whole week because of my fever.
It was only a mild fever but I made it feel like it was severe since I'm still trying to go back to my real world but I gave up since it might lead to worse than a fever.
"Good day lady Ranni, thank you so much for coming to teach me again"
I bobbed a curtsy to her.
She's the one who teaches me about etiquette and manners. Before going to the academy, one must master the proper manners and etiquette as a noble.
Of course, other things like geography, mathematics, music, dancing and etc. is also a must. But I have a different teacher in that area.
According to Delie's memories, Ranni Un Shaw is from a viscount family and she formerly works for the empire as one of the late emperor's adviser. After she retires, she decided to teach young noble children like me.
She became the head of her family and becomes the viscountess of the Un Shaw family. The household is slowly rising up once again in the society because of lady Ranni's management and the emperor's support.
She's also the one teaching my siblings and other young nobles my age.
"Lady Ranni, am I required to go to the academy when I turned fifteen?"
I asked her while she is assisting me in my embroidery. It's a lot harder than I thought.
By the way, I'm embroiding something that popped out from my mind. Maybe it was from my previous life's memories but it looks like a cute little white kitty with a small ribbon on it.
"That's a unique design"
Lady Ranni noticed my embroided design to which made me laugh.
I don't even know what design I made.
"Anyway...the answer to your question is yes, young lady La Eclaus! but not all can afford to go there since it is quiet expensive..."
"Then commoners can't enroll there even though they have gifts?"
"Apparently not young lady, but one can get a scholarship from the emperor if he saw great potential in you but in exchange...you will work under the empire after you graduate"
It's like a win-win offer huh...
"You went to the academy too, right?"
She chuckled and nodded.
"Yes I have, I was actually one of the scholars of the late emperor...even though I am from a noble viscount family, we are quite poor because our family got bankrupt so the emperor granted me a scholarship"
"Then...what is your gift Lady Ranni?"
I asked curiously.
"I can translate different languages...so that's why the late emperor wanted me to work for him to translate letters easily from other lands! I also taught the present emperor when he was still a child"
"Wow, really? But...can someone REALLY manifest their gifts before ten?"
I curiously asked. Maybe I can manifest mine before ten!
"They can but it often tends to getting out of control"
She sighed. Is that what father is talking about?

"Really? Has something like that happened before?"
"Recently...a young master from the El Blanc ducal family had already manifested his a month ago but someone from his own family was a victim of his out of control powers"
Really? But according to father, someone must experience severe emotions for the gift getting out of control?
"Can someone really die because of it?"
"Not really, but the young master's gift is related for destroying things..."
Destroying things? A gift that can only cause destruction?

"That's bad...I feel sorry for him...for having that kind of power"
I look down to show her how I feel.
"Hm? Your reaction is quite new~"
She looks suprised for a moment and gave me a small faint smile.
"Really? Why do you think so?"
What's so new about what I said?
"Well...from the other students I had been telling about the young master's gift, they seem to be quite terrified of his power instead of being sad for him"
"Really?"
But I think it's not his fault that he was born with a power like that...and he probably didn't mean to have his power out of control. It's really painful for a child like him to experience something like that.
"How old is he?"
"I think he is in the same age as you"
I see...he manifested his at eight years old!
"Anyway, you don't require to work under the empire after you graduate. Only the scholar students are required but the regular students can work for their family especially the heirs of the family like your older brother, David"
Lady Ranni tries to change the subject by telling me other things about the academy.
"Then! If I wanted to become independent like not working for the empire or not working for my family and just live on my own, can I do that?"
"Yes...but if you have permission from your parents! But you won't be Delie La Eclaus anymore, you'll become Delie only"
Aww, what?? I will lose my noble title?! But... I can still inherit from my parents?
"But you can get inheritance from your parents!"
My ears flap at the sound of that.
It's like in isekai novels where the protagonist decided to live in the country's border and have her own luxury.
"Alright, I decided!"
I raised my hand up high before Lady Ranni gestures me to finish my embroidery.
...
"No!"
My mother said to me while one of her maids is brushing her hair in their room.
I told her that I want to get my inheritance and be independent! I don't need to work under the family or the empire, I want to live my own name.
"But...but!"
"NO"
"But mother! I want to start my own business and..."
"No means no"
She continues to deny my permission so I just remain silent.
"Listen Delie, you think I'd let an eight-year-old child like you run off with the inheritance? You can't even do your manners right, how can a kid manage her own business?"
She said still putting cream on her face at her mirror.
"I can!"
Because I'm not really eight years old!
"Really? You didn't even greet me today and just rushed inside shouting 'I want my inheritance!'"
She sighed with a hint of annoyance. I flinched for a bit.
Ack! She's right!
"Can I go in?"
I heard father knocked on the door.
"Yes, I'm almost done"
Mother replied before putting a shade of red lipstick on her lips. Father went inside and saw me with puppy eyes.
"Delie! You're here!"
Father patted my head and I quickly hug him.
"Father! Can I have my inheritance now?"
I gave him the cutest look that I can make. He smiled at me and pinched my cheeks.
"Of course you can!"
"Excuse me??"
Mother stood up upset.
I told father everything about me wanting to be independent but mother told me that I was too young and my lack of manners are proof of my lack of responsibility.
"Then, I will give you inheritance if you can graduate at the academgy first and if you can show me that you are going to improve yourself"
"Dear!"
Mother was about to protest but I quickly gave him a reply.
"Accepted!"
I jump from joy and quickly give my father a quick kiss on the cheek before leaving their room.
That was embarrassing...
"Oh dear...what am I going to do with that child? I like it when she was a very obedient child before she was diagnosed with fever a week ago"
Mother sighed before burying one of her hands into her face.
"Don't worry, I know that child is very special! I actually prefer the new her"
Father laughed.
...
I was in my room studying while munching a lot of cookies that Sara had made for me. It was chocolate cookies! So delicious!
"You seem quite enthusiastic in studying today, young miss!"
Sara praised me after she put another plate of chocolate cookies beside me.
"Yes! I want to be independent as much as possible!"
Sara laughed and left me studying.
After two hours...
"Ughh...I don't want to study anymore"
I put my face into the book I am reading.
Boring...I'm bored...
"Oh! Young miss! A letter has been sent to you!"
Sara who was holding a tray with a letter on it went to me.
I look at the letter and it is really beautiful. I picked it up and smell it, it smells so good!
"Young miss, here's your letter opene- Ahh!"
Sara was about to give me the small knife which is a letter opener when I quickly opened the envelope on my own using my hands.
"..."
Sara was speechless.
"Don't worry, I opened it neatly!"
I told Sara to assure her that I opened it neatly.
I opened the letter and saw an invitation from the Vi Claross family.

I'm writing this letter to you since my father told me so hahaha. I don't know how to write a proper invitation so just pretend that it's a formal letter. Anyway, my family will be hosting the upcoming tea party next month! There will be other noble girls there that you can interact with! There will be sweets and teas there! Have a good day!
