Professor Jim Alamat is an esper with the power of metal and earth both at a high level of 12. He uses a unique technique passed to him by his ancestor to control his own powers. This strange technique is by combining strange incantations and a medallion given by his ancestors.
Through those, he could channel his energy and concentration and is able to control the elements around him. With both earth and metal at his command, Professor Jim Alamat is known for his almost impregnable defense.
In the school, he has established a name for himself and is well-known for his strictness. But most people noticed that he is a bit lenient to those students who are members of the APE fraternity and sorority. He seems to be biased towards them and would always treat them a bit better than the rest of the students.
And for this reason, many students have actually joined the fraternity so that they would be in the good books of the professor.
While looking at Curt, Professor Jim Alamat showed a strange glint in his eyes which he suddenly dispels as he began to take out the things he needed for this class.
Even though it was just a split of a second Curt has already seen that slight contempt and a bit of hostility in the professor's eyes. Yet he did not know what he did wrong to gain such animosity against the professor.
So Curt also did not linger on it much and just decided to prepare himself for anything that might happen.
The classes started and Curt listened carefully and did his best to learn more about the world of the espers. Although he could learn things from the books, nothing beats when someone is actually teaching you and explaining things in front of you.
As he listened in the classroom for the whole day, Curt learned and understood a lot of principles governing the esper society.
He learned that Esper College is actually divided into 3 levels.
The first one is the beginner level. This is where new esper learns and start practicing their esper power. This is also where those hopefuls are enrolled after graduating from high school.
Then there is the middle level. This is the level where those who pass the beginner level and are composed of only espers. The middle level is where espers with the power level of 3 up to level 15 are studying. The middle level is where espers are separated into their own roles and expertise, from espers using their power to enhance everyday life, to espers who are sent into the front lines in battle.
Some espers who reached the middle level and could not proceed up would stay in this level and some would even leave the college to start living their lives as hunters or low-level mercenaries. Mid-level espers are already considered as strong espers by normal people.
Then the last level is the upper class. This level is already considered as the cream of the crops, the most powerful of all espers in the school. The people at this level are considered as queens and kings of the school. Even the teachers would lower themselves before the people in the upper class.
In school, there are only three upper-class espers with only one teacher, that is the principal of the school.
As Curt learned more about the school, his curiosity was piqued. He wanted to meet those three most powerful espers in school.
Though he is already friends with Melissa, who is considered the second most powerful esper in the country, he could not help himself but be curious about those three students.
Plus he heard from the lecturers of what those three did in the last battle against the terrorist group. They actually fought against multiple mutants and help protect the important facilities in the city along with the other espers from the college and the mercenary groups.
The classes ended at around 6 pm and Curt feels a bit exhausted. He did not even take a break today as he was too eager to learn more.
As he walks out of the lecture hall, he immediately saw three figures leaning on the wall while talking to each other.
A faint smile appears on his face as he saw the familiar figure of a young woman.
Jenny Mae also saw him and when their eyes met, she showed a faint smile on her face.
"…"
Curt wanted to greet them when the students coming out of the room suddenly swarm towards the three ladies.
"You're Miss Jenny Mae, right? I saw you fighting against some of those armed men…"
"Oh… you're the ice queen…"
"She is the flame princess, right?"
The students began to surround the three feelings a bit excited upon seeing the three ladies whom they saw fought against the armed men while the school was being besieged.
When Curt left at that time, Jenny Mae decided to fight off the remaining armed men inside the school. While her two friends assisted her, Loo Crystal Noah who is born into a rich family was trained to fight so she is able to wield her firepower efficiently, while Kathy Dee tried her best to overcome her fear and also helped.
Hence the three of them became well-known in the school and have been given nicknames by the beginner-level students, the fiery warrior, the ice queen, and the flame princess.
As the three were surrounded by the students, Curt could not help but stood on the side and waited for everyone to disperse. But he underestimated the enthusiasm of these crazy fangirls and fanboys as they actually began taking pictures and talking to the three.
"Alright… children… please behave yourselves… We have something to do so we can take just one last picture, okay?…" Loo Crystal Noah said with a beautiful smile and gathers everyone.
After that last picture taking, the students left the three women while waving their goodbyes. Some even gave them their card to represent their families trying to show off their status.
When the students left, Curt appear from one corner and saw that the three showed helplessness in their eyes.
"It's hard being famous, right?" he said while walking towards them.
When the three saw him, only Kathy Dee showed an annoyed expression and then frowns.
"If you want a picture or an autograph, then do it tomorrow… we are busy," she said with an annoyed tone.
She then grabs the arms of her two best friends and was about to walk away.
"Wait… Kathy…" Jenny Mae stopped her.
"Are you done with your classes?" Jenny Mae asked as he walks near Curt.
"Yeah, I'll just read something while going home… How about you?"
"I'm done too… I'll be staying in the school dormitory, so you be careful now, okay?"
With a nod of his head, Curt wave goodbye and left.
Although he was hoping that he could walk with Jenny Mae home, but since she is with her friends, he could not invite her over.
As he left, the eyes of Kathy Dee suddenly showed astonishment and surprise.
"You… you are a traitor! You already have a boyfriend and left us both… Huhuhu…" she said with fake tears in her eyes.
Jenny Mae frowns upon hearing her friend's words, but she could not help but feel a bit warm upon hearing those words boyfriend... It felt like new words for her, but it did not make her feel uncomfortable just like before.
"What are you saying…" Jenny scolded as she walks ahead of the two.
"Hey… what's with the attitude?" Kathy said while following behind.
Meanwhile, Loo Crystal Noah has a glint of craftiness in her eyes as she squints a little bit to show that she understood the situation somehow.
While the three are leaving, in one corner a figure is standing frozen in place. He saw everything that happened and his fists are clenched.
He saw that young man whom Jenny Mae introduces as her boyfriend, he saw how she looks at him and saw how she smiles at him. Those smiles and those looks should only belong to him and him alone. In fact, he already noticed that Jenny Mae likes him even from before. But due to his ego and somewhat prideful disposition, he actually just enjoys the attention like a fool and did not reciprocate.
But then he discovers that Jenny Mae is not an ordinary esper. She is actually a very powerful and skilled fighter, plus it is said that her strength is constantly increasing as time goes by; hence he began to show interest in her.
But now, she has a boyfriend? This does not sit with his plan…
The figure of Alan Kane walks out of the shadows while he takes out his mobile phone.
"Teacher Jim, it's Alan… Remember that I told you about one of your students… Curt Nilfiem?..."

It was already around 8 pm when Curt got off from work and walks back to his apartment. On his way, he suddenly feels that someone is following him. So he suddenly turned vigilant.
He has been feeling uncomfortable since a while ago but did not know what it was, and now that he could sense someone else's presence nearby, he suddenly turned vigilant.
He suddenly turns to a corner and pretended to buy something from a store. In the corner of his eyes, he saw a figure of a man wearing a hooded jacket.
A slight smile appears on his face as he left the store and then turns to a corner.
The man following behind him did not feel strange as he following behind Curt's track at a fair distance. Using his ability to detect the presence of his target, the man was able to pinpoint, Curt's current location even though the distance between them is around 50 meters.
As the man followed, he passes by the store and then soon reached the corner where Curt turn.
However, as soon as the man steps forward, he suddenly feels a dangerous premonition and immediately takes out the blade on his side.
His eyes began to dart all over the street to assess the situation. He could not believe that he was discovered due to this skill in tracking. But he also could not help but feel that dangerous premonition.
But then he found nothing is amiss. However, before he could relax, he suddenly a flash of light. And then he found his consciousness fading. Then before he could completely close his eyes, he saw the shadow of a man walking towards him.
