Chapter 9: chapter Nine: Zoey
Zoey's POV
After school, I drive home alone because Dani and Dave have practice after school today. After parking my car safely in the driveway, I notice another car at the other end of the driveway. It looks so much like my Father's car, but it's not possible, he's on a business trip
"It's not possible"

I keep on chanting until I get to the front door and find it unlocked
I enter the dimly lit but empty living room, droppingy bag on one of the couches, I hear clanking of pots and spoons panicking, I shout into the air "Who is in there?".
"We're in here darling!" my mother responds loudly from the kitchen. Again, I hear clanking of pots.
"I think I'm dreaming" I mutter
Surprised to hear her at home 2 weeks early I rush into the kitchen and saw my Mom cooking by the stove and my dad sitting by the counter with a mug of coffee in his hands. I stared with wide eyes and my jaw dropped in surprise. I didn't expect them to be back so soon i feel like I am dreaming
"Mom?, Dad? am I dreaming?" I asked surprised and unconvinced that they are actually in the house with me
"No you're not baby" My Dad answers
"Wh~ how? I thought you said you'll be back in 3 weeks" I exclaimed, stuttering at the beginning of my sentence. I could feel tears pooling in my eyes already. I hate being such an emotional person. Even a movie can make me cry, it is really annoying to be sincere
"Yes. Uh- we finished the business early, so we decided to come home and have the family time you requested for" My mom answered coming over to hug me
"oh Mom! I missed you guys!. this house is just too big for me to stay in alone. I missed you" I sobbed loudly.
"Oh darling. We missed you too. and we bought so many things for you. They are in your room waiting for you to open them." She says excitedly and lovingly rubbing my back for comfort.
I pull away from the hug and look over to my Dad to see he had his arms wide open for another bear hug from me and I waste no time in running over to him to give him a hug.
"I missed you so much Dad"
"I missed you too baby girl" He replied placing light kisses on my forehead
"I'm sorry for yelling at you before you left." I apologise with my voice laced with sincerity
"We're sorry too for leaving on such a short notice baby girl and we love you very much".
"I love you guys so much". I muttered into his shirt
"Now enough of the mushy stuff. Go check what your mother and I got for you, it is waiting for you in your room" He says kissing my head. Pulling away from the hug, I notice that my mother has gone back to what she was doing and has busied herself with slicing some vegetables.
I turn back to face my Dad and gave him a kiss on the cheek and walk to the living room, picking up my discarded bag, I climb up the stairs leading into the the hallway leading to my room, I skip to my room door, turning the door nob of the blue coloured door, I enter to see around seven big bags leaving on my room floor.
I walk over to my bed and lay on it felling exhausted after the whole emotion rollercoaster, not long after laying in my bed I fall into a dreamless sleep.
I woke up to someone tapping my legs gently. I open my eyes slowly to see my mother hovering over me with a gentle smile plastered on her face
"Hey mom" I greeted yawning
"Hey baby, had a nice nap? , come down for your dinner" Mom replied smiling
" Yes I had a nice nap, Thank you and I will be down in 20 minutes" I answered slightly sleepy
"Okay then" She replies walking out of my room.
I pick up my phone from my night stand to check the time and I saw that I have been asleep for over 2 hours I saw I had 5 missed calls from both Dani and Dave and a message to call them back when I see it.
I walk over to the bathroom to brush the metallic taste of not opening my mouth for over 2 hours. After brushing my teeth and washing my face, I leave my room and walk down to the dinning hall.
After eating dinner with my parents and watching a movie, I walk to my room with the plan of calling Dani and Dave on Skype to open my presents with me.
Calling them, after a while of ringing; I saw Dani and Dave faces and shirtless shirts
"Hey Dave"
"Hello Zoey, why did you not picked our calls? we were worried"
"I'm sorry. My parents came back today and I fell asleep"
"Your parents~
"They're back~?" The replied shocked with wide eyes and opened mouths
"Yes. They said they finished thier business early and they want to make up for all the time they missed on business trips and vacations."
"Wow!"
"Yeah. I was also this shocked and happy. Anyways the bought a load of presents for me~
