Chapter 4: The Meeting

It was a dream come true. Christian still could not believe that he won the Best Story Plot Award. The crowd was cheering for him. The dazzling beam coming from the spotlight is following Christian as he walks through the red carpet. His gaze shifted to his editor, Ezekiel as Christian mouths the phrase 'I did it!' Ezekiel gave him a triumphant smile  and two big thumbs up. Christian took a deep breath before he ascends to the stage to receive the award. The guest of honors shook my hand while saying, "Congratulations!" He couldn't contain his happiness flowing in his slender body. Just then, a man holding a plaque is approaching Christian. Christian's smile became wider and wider as the man is walking closer to him.  The man leaned closer to Christian's ear and whispered. "If you want this plaque, finish your work." The man mumbled. Christian was surprised so he receded. The man just gave him a smile, and a nod. Christian looked at the crowd immediately. Unfortunately, the blinding light welcomed his blue eyes. It caused him to forcefully close his eyes or else he would be blind.

When he opened his eyes, the first thing he saw is a light coming from his laptop screen. Christian yawned still feeling sleepy and tired, not until he sees the time. He immediately stands up, as a sign that he was startled and shocked. "What the actual--!" He screamed at the top of his lungs. 7:50AM. "I'm not even close!" He started to panic. I can't screw this up. Not with a 'legend.' He thought. Christian called one of his co-worker, namely Isaiah Jonas. When Christian heard that Isaiah answered the call already, he started to speak like a rapper. "Hello Isaiah, please come up with an excuse for me. I won't be working for today because something came up. Oh, maybe you can tell them that I'm sick or something. I owe you!" Christian didn't even give Isaiah a chance to speak, because he ended the call immediately. After the call, He continued editing and revising the story he forgot to finish last night because he fell asleep. Stupid me. He thought.

Isaiah Jonas, one of Christian's colleagues. He is also an outstanding novelist who had multiple awards in his pocket. Unlike Christian, novel writing is just a hobby to him. It is outside his profession actually. However, when he is on top of his game, his written pieces are out of this world. Alongside with Christian and the two other novelists, he is part of this so called, The Seasons of Novelist. His penname, Gintz Riles — The Winter. Isaiah's novels will truly give shivers to your spine. Reading his novel will make you experience heartbreaks, unrealistic pain and loneliness. It is a type of pain which can't be furthermore explained. Readers are asking, 'What are your inspirations, or sources in writing?'  And his answer,  "Experiences." Some thought that he had a depressing background because of his answer, but it was actually not his experience. It was his friends' experience to be exact, unbelievable isn't it? It's just that he understands. With the testimonies he hears, together with his understanding and creative mind, the outcome will be one of the best, maybe the best.

Christian, on the other hand is The Summer. His pieces are warm, comforting and inspiring. Reading his piece will make you experience being wrapped with a warm blanket. It gives you the vibe of freedom, enjoyment and fun. It's hard to explain but somehow, it will cause you great amount of relief. Just like the sunshine, it will give you a smile. Just like a ripe fruit, it will let you experience its true flavor. The sweetness and the softness will hit on you.

Christian and Isaiah are close to each other. They share the same interest, which is really ironic that they differ at the style of writing. Without the presence of the other, it would be too hot or too cold. Maybe it's the reason why they become good friends. Christian and Isaiah working together, is such a huge advantage. They will produce temperate pieces, not too sad nor too happy. It would be controlled if that happens.

Isaiah, on the other line who just woke up, was shocked that Christian called. I bet he needs something. He chuckled. He answered the phone call and to his surprise, Christian talks really fast. He is like a machine gun firing countless of bullets. What a great morning. Isaiah frowned. He decided to let Christian talk first, but unfortunately Christian ended the call without letting Isaiah talk. Isaiah just let out a sigh and dialed someone's number.

"Hello?" The voice from the other line spoke. It was a girly voice to describe it. "Well, I'm not in the mood to work right now. Tell the boards that I won't be around, also Christian said something came up so." Isaiah explained. Unlike Christian, he let the person respond to what he said. "I'm not going as well, I need to finish the storyline. I'll text Vinz then." The person on the other line said. "Oh, I see. Thank you Chelsea." Isaiah said as he drops the phone call.

Chelsea Sky, a novelist who is also part of The Seasons of Novelist. She is the only girl who is part of the group. That just explains her outstanding performance in novel writing. Her penname, Luciel Salvatore — The Spring. Just how the flowers bloom, trees begin to grow and ice shards melt, It explains her style of writing. She builds up her piece's mood, making sure it is healthy, full of nourishment and blooming. Then, she will melt every reader's heart using flowery and captivating words. Her works are lovely, without having a cliché romantic story. It would definitely touch the reader's heart. Reading her novels will make you want to experience love again. Not just that, it will make you feel loved and treasured. Just like the season of spring, it is the beginning of growth. The magic in new beginnings is truly the most powerful of them all — Josiyah Martin, a famous author once said. She experienced downfall, failure and disappointment. Maybe Chelsea began to write like the spring and start once again. It's her inspiration after all. She loves flowers, especially when they bloom. Just like a flower, she also boomed. She won multiple awards after that downfall. She never stopped, she just restarted.

Chelsea searched for Vinz' number, then she sent a message.

TO: Vinz Davidson +13****** (***)

I won't be working at SC-PHI. I still haven't finished my storyline yet and I have to meet someone at 8PM. Please tell the boards I'm not feeling well. Thank you!

FR: Chelsea Sky +17****** (***)

Just a few seconds have passed, Chelsea's phone vibrated. She noticed that it was a text message from Vinz.

TO: Chelsea Sky +17****** (***)

I'm also busy. Let the boards be confused.

FR: Vinz Davidson +13****** (***)

Chelsea let out a chuckle as she reads Vinz reply. She placed her phone on her desk so that she could continue working on her unfinished work.

Vinz Davidson, a multi-awarded novelist. The fourth and final member of The Seasons of Novelist. His penname, Luci D. — The Autumn. He is truly a devil when it comes to writing. Though, it's not a bad thing. The melancholy of his piece is universal. How his harsh truths kill those hopeless lie. The way he open each individual's eye is fascinating. He is rough, sometimes hated but he rather inspire them to live in painful truth than believing in beautiful lie. A devil who terminates false-hope, misinformation and deceptions. His writing style is similar to the season of autumn. The hurtful downfall, is just a sign that a page was turned. He shows that letting go is not a lost, but rather a relief. Vinz inspires his reader how to look at different perspectives. He once said that, "The leaves will fall, but they let themselves fly with the wind." Who knows that downfall can be that beautiful, that's why his novels are deep. It's truly one of a kind.

The Seasons of Novelist, the new generation of novelists in the present time. The four of them had won multiple awards. A literati built the so called group. The literati felt that they are compatible working with each other and fortunately, the literati was right and found some similarities. They all had different personalities, contradicting personalities to be exact. They all had different writing styles and genres. It is not because they won multiple awards. If awards is the basis, the group would be even more larger. But it is how they connect with every reader. How they touch their reader's heart, or how they communicate with them and express their emotions to them. Aside from that, they both share one personality. A personality that hinders them from working. Laziness.

When Christian looked to his sliding window, the sun is ready to set, and the fleeting colors of the sky are fading away. It made Christian panicked but he is almost done. He looked at his laptop screen, as he checks the time. 7:15PM. Forty-five minutes before he will meet this legendary grammar analyst, so he hurriedly edit his story.

Fifteen minutes had passed, and he finally finished editing. Christian leaned on his sliding chair while stretching his arms, as he let out a big yawn. He is tired and exhausted but he is meeting an important person. He went to his wardrobe to pick a formal clothes, just to give the legend a good impression. He is nervous as he buttoned his coat. He is pretty confident with regards to his story, but meeting a legend is something that he couldn't think of. Good thing the meeting place is near, or else it would be ashame to keep the legend waiting. He thought. Christian decided to fix the stuffs he needed to.

Christian checked if everything is prepared. The printed storyline, checked. Laptop, checked. Token, I don't have one! He panicked. Christian quickly grabbed his stuffs he needed, as he rushes to a nearby bakeshop. Should a red velvet cake will do its magic? He hesitated but he still ordered one. He looked at his wristwatch to track the time. 7:48PM. His face is sweating, his body is trembling and his foot is randomly tapping on the ground. Luckily, the red velvet cake he ordered is ready for take-out. Christian grabbed the plastic that contains the cake, as he runs towards the meeting place. He looked at his wristwatch again to check the time. 7:53PM. When Christian saw the time ,he rushed at the Tully's Coffee while holding the plastic.

Christian reached the meeting place, two minutes early. He entered the place and asked the receptionist. "Hi! My name is Christian Simoune, and I had a reservation at 8PM." He said while catching his breath. The receptionist nodded and said, "Please follow me." The receptionist lead the way as Christian just followed. He is shaking, his heart is pounding faster, and his sweats are violently dropping even the facility is air-conditioned. He checked the time and it was exactly eight in the evening. Suddenly, the receptionist spoke. "We are here sir." The receptionist left immediately, leaving Christian alone. When Christian looked up, he is shocked to what he saw. He is surprised and clueless. A lot of question is currently running on his mind.
