-Blake's Perspective-
I'm sitting on the swings feeling a little bummed out, I dropped my lollipop and now I can't eat it anymore. I can feel the tears starting to come out, when I hear laughter. I lift my head wiping my eyes seeing a girl running up to me. She notices my crying.
"Why are you crying?" she asks me.
"Oh it's nothing I just dropped my lollipop and now it's no good." I replied softly, I look down at my hands about to cry when she shoves her hand into the face. In it holds a lollipop,
"Here! Have mine, I have another one." she smiled at me. I reached out and slowly took it from her, a smile creeps onto my face. She laughs and extends out a hand, "I'm Autumn!"
"I'm Blake," I tell her. She smiles so bright it's brighter than the sun. Something tells me that she's the one. I don't know she just makes me feel weird.
"Can we be friends now?" she asks loudly. I hesitate but nod anyway. Before I know she grabs my hand and pulls me to the monkey bars.
- FOURTEEN YEARS LATER -
I walked proudly to my seat in the front row of my school's green courtyard reminiscing of old memories I had once experienced throughout my four years of high school.
I watched as my peers awkwardly walked among their parents trying not embarrass themselves by falling or tripping.
I let out a laugh watching them. I look around and spot a familiar warm smile, smiling back at me.
I watch her stumble to her seat in her high heels, she isn't that great at walking in them yet.
Everyone sat down in their seats as we waited for our principal to come on stage.
It wasn't until I heard a loud thump, thump, thump that I looked up to see Mr. Wilson on the podium tapping the microphone with a big smile.
"Welcome Parents and Students!" he spoke into the microphone. Everyone cheered and roared as we were all happy for this day.
"Now I know for a lot of you, you're all like 'Ugh give us our diplomas and let's go get wasted at Ryan's house!' I'm watching you Ryan..." He exclaimed, pointing at Ryan.
I look back at Ryan rolling his eyes in amusement as everybody laughed.
"But sadly you can't just leave high school like that, now to start off our ceremony! Let's all rise for our National Anthem." Mr. Wilson motioned for us to stand and face the big red, white, and blue flag.
One of our best singers at Franklin Pierce walked onto the stage and stood in the middle with the band on her side.
I start to hear the drums pounding in my chest as I daze off wandering what life is going to be like when I start college.
-5 Long Minutes Later-
"Thank you Angelica and our award winning national band! Moving on to the main event of tonight! Now welcome our Valedictorian of 2015, none other than the talented Michelle Bailey!" Mr. Wilson said.
I snapped out of my daze when everyone starting shouting and clapping, I soon joined in and whistled loudly.
I was never the type to focus on my academics I mean I wasn't at the bottom, I mostly enjoyed volleyball and that was it.
The speech went on for what felt like forever until she finally said,
"Thank you everyone for making this an amazing four years! Now let's get our diplomas!" I turned to my friend sitting next to me and exclaimed,
"He could high school ever be amazing!?" He let out a laugh and shook his head in disappointment.
"By amazing, does she mean ridiculous!" He laughed. The principle gathered the other faculty and staff on stage and started to call out names for our diplomas.
"Allison Akima, Marian Alicto, Peter Anderson, Blake Avery..." It was finally my turn to escape high school. I walk up to the stage and receive my diploma, shook a lot of hands, and took a picture.
I walk back to my seat and waited for the one name to be called. "...Nicole Joseph, Abigail Jones, Autumn Karev..."
I look up to see the most beautiful girl with the biggest smile on stage shake hands with the principal and faculty.
As she walks off the stage and walks back to her seat I let out a wolf whistle just to see her blush.
She stares at me with and embarrassed expression and her.
-2 Hours Later-
"Now let's end the year with a classic!" Principal Wilson exclaims. As on cue everyone stood up and tossed their caps into the air screaming,
"Whoohoo!" I look across the field and see her standing by her seat cheerfully screaming and giggling to her friends beside her.
I walk towards her but it's as if everything is in slow-motion. I finally reach her and pull her into the biggest hug ever.
Seeing as I'm seven inches taller I rest my chin along the top of her head and hold her in my arms.
It wasn't long until her parents come running over with a camera in their hands.
"Say cheese!" I told Autumn,
"Cheese!" she happily replied.
Many pictures later we finally got to go to dinner.
We picked Autumn and I's favorite diner, Mick and Friday's.
We've been going there since we were eleven, its been our hangout spot ever since, our favorite waitress, Miss Melinda still remembers us from when we were little.
When we arrive we are greeted by a very familiar face,
"Well, look at my favorite graduates!" Miss Melinda exclaimed with joy.
"Aww, hi Miss Melinda," Autumn hugs Miss Melinda.
"Oh please we all know she was talking about me!" I go to hug her and sarcastically tell Autumn, who rolled her eyes at me.
I love looking at her eyes, no one really realizes her eyes like I do. I don't even think she does.
On first glance Autumn's eyes are brown, but if you look closely they're hazel.
Especially in the sunlight they shine beautiful hazel.
I snapped back to reality when Autumn says something, "We should go watch the sunset!" I smile at her nod my head.
We get our ice cream cause that's the only thing we came here for.
We hop in to my GMC truck and head to the docks, where you can see the sunset clearly.
On our way Autumn and I talk about high school, laugh at memories and sing our hearts out to the radio.
One of our favorite songs plays and Autumn and I screech out the lyrics.
I wouldn't be surprised if we're pulled over for being to loud.
Sadly we didn't get pulled over, Autumn just laughs at my sadness.
We made it to the docks though.
I grab her hand and lead her down to the docks. I put her in front of me and pull her to my chest.
We stare at the sunset in each others embrace and it feels so right.
I don't know when I am going to tell her how I really feel.
We stay there talking and laughing. It started to get dark so I took her home.
I walked her to her front porch when she asked me, "What are we gonna do?" I looked at her in confusion. "What are we gonna do now?
"Like college?" I asked her.
"Yeah, I mean what are your plans?" she questions me. How do I tell her I want to be with her?
"I-uh-umm," I stammer. "I don't know really. I wanna go to college but I don't wanna leave home." I say hoping she doesn't see my double meaning.
She's my home, anywhere with her I will be home. I smile at her. "What about you? What are you doing?"
"I don't know, I'm not sure which college I want to attend." Autumn tells me sadly.
"Do you think we're gonna stay the way we are?" I ask her a little bummed out. She grabs my hand and looks at me. A soft smile plays on her lips.
"Of course we are. We'll be side by side through every adventure," Autumn replies softly. I just nod my head and say goodnight.
I hope she will always feel that way. I love her and I have since we were kids.
I get so worked up thinking about her, even in junior high when I started hitting puberty, it was really hard to control myself.
And when she was fully developed by Junior year my hormones were blasting through the roof.
Yeah she is sweet and beautiful but she has an undeniable body. Her long beautiful legs. Full luscious hair. And her scent that could be smelt miles away.
I'm fucking whipped. And she had no idea.
There were times where I thought she'd felt the same. But then she brush it off.
We had little moments that were more than best friends.
I remember junior high 8th grade, we had a party for one of our friends and we played spin the bottle.
I played of course dragging along Autumn. In hopes of kissing her.
We almost did before someone broke one of the expensivevases causing the game to end.
Or the time we went to the beach and I got caught staring at her strip her clothes.
She just laughed it off, but I could see her blush a mile away.
Whatever she plans to do I'll make some excuse to go along with her. I don't think I could ever be without Autumn.
