Chapter 2: entry

By the time Enlir got home the sun was already falling at dusk, many families are going home from their farms while others came back hunting from the forest with many of them carrying an animal carcass on their shoulders.

Enlir finished reading the old book at the library but he didn't read it like a mantra and only read it normally like any other books.

It's contents mostly seems to be prayers with some depiction of a scenery of an eternally bright and flowing river, a mountain filled with colorful blooming flower and sailing white clouds under the graceful Sun above.

" after I read it like a mantra then didn't burn it afterwards, I wonder what something bad will happen." he contemplated if he should really do it, Enlir was afraid of the unknown nonetheless. Since the Sorceress said she wouldn't harm him then it really wouldn't, he thought.

" you went to that library again didn't you?! I told you to do drills not read!" an angry clamor resounded into Enlir's ears as he entered the room.

His father was there sitting on a wooden chair placed in front of the door, seemingly waiting for him. " come here insolent boy! You'll do drill throughout all night long!" Jurdo said as he held Enlir's shoulders by force. Enlir couldn't resist the bull like man and was forcefully dragged into a room filled with different sizes of poles with a huge slabs of stones attached to their ends. everything that's used for weight lifting in short.

'No not this again.' Enlir thought.

" father, to tell you the truth I don't want to become a hunter." he said, trying to get sympathy from this Wild born father of him.

" what do you mean by that!" Jurdo's fierce brows furrowed like a proud lion. " you're looking down on our profession? The profession that fed your ancestors and you right to this day?" he added angrily.

" hey!!! What's going on here?!" an angry voice of a woman could be heard at Jurdo's back.

Just outside the door was Enlir's mother wearing a linen apron and a petite little girl with dark hair beside her also wearing a mini version of an apron.

" your son said he doesn't want to become a hunter, why don't we ask him what he wanted to become instead?" she said. " Tequila watch the meat and call me if it's tender already." she told Tequila in which the little girl nodded and left for the kitchen.

" look how disrespectful he had become! He doesn't even respect the job that fed him!" Jurdo said, " so if you don't want to become a hunter what do you want to do?!" he then asked Enlir angrily.

Jurdo really wanted to get violent towards this son of him but he couldn't do it because his wife was watching, his in laws are still alive and he was afraid that she would slander him to her father as a violent husband.

Enlir looked at his parents and saw them waiting for his answer.

" I want to become an adventurer and travel all around the world," Enlir said.

" what?! Hahaha!!" Jurdo laughed hysterically and Melina pinched his hips making him stop.

" you don't even have a single minute of experience being in a forest, yet you want to go explore the world alone? And where will you get the resources required for you to survive there?" Jurdo then added.

Enlir didn't reply and lowered his head. yeah, he do not even know how to start a fire from scratch and yet he wanted to travel the world.

The books he had read only contains information but not survival tricks and tips.

" Right... Why don't you strengthen yourself first and train for your future adventure?" Melina said.

Jurdo looked at his wife and said, " what do you mean future adventure? I'm getting him gain muscles so girls would be interested on him!"

" many girls are interested on him! Look, with this handsome and scholarly looks who wouldn't want him?" Melina refuted as she gestured Enlir's face.

Jurdo was quite speechless. Right, many girls are interested on Enlir but it's their families that doesn't agree. He wanted to argue more so he could force his own son to do drills yet he found himself unable to reason with his wife so he left with a grunt while wearing an annoyed expression, he have the strength to match up an adult boar yet this sickly and frail looking wife of him seems undefeatable for him.

" are you okay?" she said worriedly and continued, " did that father of yours hurt you?"

Melina inspected his son's body. There doesn't seem to be bruises or somekind.

" your father is quite right, you don't really have any experience about anything in the forest and you know anything about outside the forest either."

" you should probably strengthen your body first and head to the nearest city and look for information maybe you could find other adventurers there you can maybe join them."

Enlir remained silent but listened carefully to his mother. Thinking what should he really do first, something surfaced in his mind. The book the Sorceress gave him, she signaled about adventure in her speech, could the book be able to help him? Maybe he should try to read the book again tonight like a mantra.

" I will tell your father to train you so starting tommorow you should probably stop going to the library for now." she said,

" mother the pot dried out of water!" a cute voice yelled suddenly.

" the meat! you heard me right, Enlir? Go rest for now," said Melina and frantically ran towards the kitchen.

He looked at his mother's departing back and contemplated for minuted before going to his room. Enlir's room was quite small and only have a wooden shelf on the corner where he kept his clothes. A small bed but more than enough to fit Enlir comfortably and a small table beside the bed with a lamp on surface.

If father trained me tomorrow I'm pretty sure he would make it very hard for me after what happened a while ago. Enlir thought.

He laid on his bed for an hour to rest as he still spent over an hour in plowing land this morning and got downstairs when he was called for dinner.
