Chapter 5: 5: the big news
mrs rayas face transformed from icy cold to chocolate warm in a split second.
she knew good money when she smelled it.
"Good day and welcome to all halal. how may i help you" she beamed letting go of aaras hand but he chose to ignore that.
Aara hastily handed the box to him and crept away.
she hoped mrs raya would get somthing off the man so she would be spared the insults later. Aara squatted and wiped a tea spill off the floor.
"thanks for the service" she heard him say. Aara raised her head and found him crouched next to her.
Aara nearly fell over. "it's alright" she blushed
"I'm mus'ab by the way" he smiled charmingly placing a bunch of banknotes on the floor close to her and standing up to leave.
Aara couldn't wrap her head around what just happened and by the time she did. the man was gone.
by 5pm everybody was gone. the cafe had been closed. Aara sat on a bench next to the bus stop tapping her feet quietly she thanked Allah that she prayed during her break.
the bus came and it was a quite ride back home. Aara and two others were the only people on the bus.
Tommorow she would go to work again and come home unemployed. this tought made her heart break.
At least nobody would abuse her anymore. she smiled sadly getting off the bus.
home was much cooler than outside. first Aara took a nice long shower and changed into her lose gray t shirt and pink shorts.
she tied her black silky hair into a bun and reheated some left overs from the fridge
The slit screen of her outdated phone lit up and displayed the caller ID 'sweetpod'
Aara felt slightly better and swept her finger across it
