Chapter 36: Chapter 5

The man had gotten into gear and he wasn't on the verge of easing off whatsoever. He ranted on and on while Vukan looked to his mother like a child who understood he was being led for the slaughter. There was little the woman could do but he wished she could see his pain and process the misery he had to contend with every time his father decided to go on his common rampage. 

"If being your son is too hard for you to bear, just tell me", Vukan belted out the words with his fist ramming into the table and prompting his mother to jump back in fright. "I am me and I know what I want and what I am good at! If your ego cannot take it then… ". 

He paused and weighed his words, knowing anything he said might escalate things some more. Like two elephants at each other's throats, the underlying grass, which was his mother, was surely bound to get affected the most. Regardless, he was no match for his father's chaotic words and quite condemning statements.
