Chapter 15: Chapter 14: Training (Part 1)

Peter yawned, cleaning off some counters in Avengers Tower. The only other person there who valued organization was Natasha, but unfortunately, she was off cleaning a different floor. This particular version of Avengers Tower was pretty much empty except the top two floors (Out of like 15 floors). The other floors generally just held SHIELD personnel. Peter just got done dusting off one of the lab counters when the elevator to the side opened. He turned to be met by Nat, wearing a white tank top and black sweats. He himself was just in a blue short-sleeve dress shirt with the buttons undone to show his plain white tank top. His suit was off to the side. "Oh, hey Nat. How did the cleaning go downstairs?" He ignored how bad that would sound out of context and plopped his washcloth on the counter.

Nat huffed. "For being as old-fashioned as he is, Steve is horrifically disorganized." She sat down at one of the stools by the lab counters and splayed herself across the cool steel. "I found a sock in his bathroom sink. How the fuck does that even happen?"

Peter shrugged. "No idea. Last week when I did that floor I found one of Clint's arrows feather-deep in the bathroom door. We have it tough." He chuckled. Natasha smiled and leaned back in her stool. Peter leaned against another counter. "I'm still on the clock, but I have literally nothing I need to do."

Nat shrugged. "Well, I know Tony said you would be trained, though you don't really need it, considering what I saw on your lawn about a month ago. But maybe actual training would make you even better than you already are."

Peter nodded. "That makes sense to me." He took off his dress shirt and hung it on a stool. "Let me grab my workout clothes from the area I take my breaks. Meet you in the gym in 10 minutes, yeah?" Natasha nodded and headed for said gym.

In the midst of getting into workout clothes, his mind reflected over what had happened in the last month. After Norman died, Harry had taken over Oscorp, seeking advice and a bit of guidance from Tony. Tony didn't care much for the things Oscorp specialized in, so he didn't see anything wrong with giving Harry advice. That was, until Harry phased out most of Oscorp's genetics division and leaned more in the direction of defenses of the city. Now, Tony and Harry actually collaborated on one or two things, at least in regards to business practices. Harry definitely didn't have the smarts that Tony did, but he tended to combine Oscorp's scientists with Tony and his company for far-reaching defensive measures. Harry may not be particularly smart, but he was a prepared guy in this universe, apparently. Neat. Harry had topped off his Oz serum consumption up to Hobgoblin, in control of his mind at said level, and kept it there until he'd be needed again. Hopefully, he wouldn't be, but he was on speed dial on Peter's phone.

Within the month, a significant portion of Peter's past life, the one where he's not allowed to remember what his name had been, had resurfaced, and Peter felt a bigger need to establish a connection between that side of him and Gwen and MJ. Gwen and MJ had a bigger connection with the "Peter" side of Peter, but not so much with the &#*@%$^ side. He'd gone on some dates and stuff with them to foster that. Via rules of the universe, Death wasn't allowed to say anything about him having a past life to other people, and neither was he, so he had to somewhat phase out the old Parker mannerisms and such in order to sort of create his own version of himself. Sort of a conscious effort to blend together the two sets of vague memories swirling in his mind.

He shook his head to clear it and put on a blue tank top, black athletic shorts, and black sneakers. He shook out his limbs a little before he left his dressing area, headed for the training area. He found Natasha in business mode, arms crossed and very prepared to try to run him through the mill. "Okay, first, so I know roughly what you're capable of, roughly what powers are we dealing with here, besides wall-clinging, webs, and stingers?"

Peter shrugged. "I have a danger sense. And I have superhuman strength." He yawned a little and did some stretches.

"How strong?" There is a big difference between Captain America strength and Thor strength, so it's important to gauge how much is being dealt with.

Peter shrugged. "Well, I haven't really tested, but my webs can easily put holes in walls."

Natasha raised her eyebrows. "Okay, but what about your raw physical strength? Like, how much can you comfortably lift?"

He shrugged again. "Comfortably? Like, 20 or 25 tons. But that's like, without straining. If I'm putting in effort, I don't actually know how much I can lift."

Nat's eyes widened and she led him to a machine. Next to it was a synthetic vibranium mesh dummy, with some electrodes and such attached to it. "These can measure how much force you can exert in a strike. I want you to punch right in the middle so I can get an accurate measure on how much force you use."

Peter shrugged. "Ok, how hard?" He shook his hands to loosen up.

Nat gave him a pointed look. "As hard as you can." He gulped.

Stepping back, Peter readied himself. A punch and a kick for two separate readings would be good for comparison. He stepped back up to the bag and reeled his fist back for a second before he drove it home, punching a dent into the vibranium mesh, enough to seriously injure someone if they were wearing it, the same material that the Black Panther's suit is made out of. He extracted his hand before he fell to one hand and brought his foot arcing above his head to slam against the dummy's chest. His foot forewent any semblance of a dent and tore a hole into it. He set his foot back down.

Peter huffed. "Okay, how did I do?" He turned to Nat. Said redhead was wide-eyed, but other than that, she hid any reaction.

"Well, Thor and Bruce are gonna be pissed to see this, I can tell you that much." She turned the computer to face her.

His punch came in at around 80 tons of force. His kick, having punched a hole into the dummy, did in fact register. His kick clocked in at about 95 tons.

He gulped. 'That wasn't even my hardest, even though she asked me to. I'm gonna have to really pull my punches if I don't wanna end people outright.' He grinned at Nat. "Just one less reason for them to tease me. I'll take it."

Nat chuckled slightly. "Yeah, well, your strength is too high for me to safely spar with you. Unless you can pull punches enough." She rose an eyebrow.

He shrugged. "I sort of can. I usually only ten percent my punches. So short answer, yeah, I can pull my punches."

Nat grinned widely. "Great. Then square up." Peter may be absurdly superhuman in almost every department, but Nat still scared him when it came to the idea of fighting her.

He gulped. "Be gentle." He followed her to the sparring area.
