Chapter 1: A New World

"Pain"!!

"So fucking painful"!

"My head is in agony"!

Micheal law who was in a deep sleep suddenly felt an agonizing pain. Like someone continuously bashed his head with a hammer.

He was in a constant state of pain, fainting only to wake up again in agony. Trying to move his arms.proved to no avail, he can't even feel his limbs anymore.

His state of mind was in a mess, his thoughts were blurry and unfocused. Something like a mist-shrouded his mind. Making him unable to think properly.

Suddenly he felt something burning

within his throat, it was as if someone poured molten iron in his mouth.

"The pain! Make it stop!! Please"!!

Like the Gods heard his pleas for help the pain slowly disappeared. His body numbed. He could no longer feel his limbs and body, only his mind recovered.

"What is happening to me? Everything seems to be numbed, even my sense of touch and smell. No not just that, I can't hear, I can't see, I can't feel".

He was in deep thought, he was afraid of what was happening yet that can't stop him from rationalizing and thinking of all the possibilities.

"Am I in a coma? Have I become a vegetable with no control whatsoever or have I died, is this the afterlife"?

Micheal cursed at his own misfortune. It seems that I have no chance of awakening on my own, for now, I'll just have to wait. Wait for anything that might change within this lonely white space.

Micheal waited, he waited for something. He didn't know what he was waiting for.

Be it days or year's, Micheal didn't care. He had all the time in the world, literally.

This seems to be longer than I expected. I wonder how old I'll be when I wake up, hopefully, not much time has passed in the real world.

Suddenly Michael felt something, a constant stream of pain suddenly invaded his body. It felt like he was being crushed slowly by a huge boulder.

"Fuck! I was hoping for something to happen, but not like this"!

Slowly his senses recovered one by one. First his smell, then his sense of touch, soon after came to his hearing and sight.

After the agonizing pain disappeared, he slowly opened his eyes. His vision first blurred before faint violet encompassed his sight. All he could see was a damp ceiling slowly dripping with a dark red liquid.

He turned his head to the right, he saw an old and dusted drawer with a notebook lying on top of it. A violet light exposed tiny insects crawling on top of the notebook.

Next to the notebook was a small silver mirror, countless cracks ran through it. It looked like it was about to shatter at any moment

Behind it was a wall with countless cracks ranging from small to large. Something seeped out of its cracks, it was a red liquid.

To his front was a small steel door, it was about 2 meters tall. Littered across the door was a bunch of bulbs and scratches like someone was constantly bumping into it.

Micheal took a deep sigh. "What a sight to behold, I expected to be in a hospital Not in a cell."

"Looks like I've been kidnapped, I wonder who would want to kidnap me. I'm just a bloody college student with no friends and family, I'm even broke as hell."

"I should check my body for any suspicious scars or stitches. Someone could have taken my organs."

His eyes landed onto his bare chest or were dirty but it had no scars. He looked at his sides then touched his back.

"This doesn't seem to be the worst situation I've imagined. I wonder why would someone kidnap me, it can't be for ransom. I don't even have a good background. Hell, all my relatives are dead or missing."

Slowly, he turned his head to the right. It was where to light was coming from.

He saw a barred window. The light passing through its gaps. Floating in midair was a shattered violet moon that hung above a red and bloody sky.

Micheal felt a chill run up his spine, his body subconsciously stiffened. Sweat slowly dripped from his face, he was in a state of shock.

What in Gods name... Something big has happened while I was asleep. Something that can shatter a celestial body.

His brows furrowed as he stared out of the window for a few minutes, examining the sky.

The sky, why it's a different colour. No, the clouds are red, not the sky.

Micheal finally looked away from the window and examined the room once more. What first caught his was the old and worn down notebook with little insects on too of it.

"Maybe there's something important written inside"

He walked towards it and noticed that the tiny insects scurried of the notebook. It was like they were afraid of him.

He picked up the notebook and opened its first page. It was empty, Micheal furrowed its brows in confusion. "Maybe it's written on another page"?

He flipped through the pages one after another, hoping for something to appear on its empty pages. Finally, on the very last page, something appeared. It was written messily, as a child scribbled on it.

Everything is false, nothing is true.

Micheal bit his lips in confusion "Why does everything have to be cryptic and mysterious these days"

Micheal touched the handwriting, it felt wet. "It's still wet, it could have been written moments before I awoke. That means someone else was here with me while I was still asleep."

Micheal closed the notebook and noticed something else peculiar. At the back of the notebook was a name, Edward Hall. It was written in a fancy font different from the messy handwriting inside. "Why would someone write their name on the back of a notebook? A normal person would write it on the front, where it's easily found"

After examining the notebook he carefully placed it back on the table. He looked at the mirror next to it.

He looked intently within the mirror and saw his current self.

Black hair with small streaks of red, A tattered and worn down shirt, red eyes, Thinly built and more than average facial features.

Micheal touched his face, unable to believe his current appearance. "This.... Have I transmigrated?

Plop.

Something dripping onto his face awakened him from his shock, he looked in the mirror and saw a dark red liquid sliding down his face.

Subconsciously Micheal touched the liquid and examined it closely. "Could this be blood?"

He looked at the ceiling and saw a dark red stain, it was where the blood came from. He then looked at the walls and saw the same thing seeping out of it'

A sudden realization came upon Michael, he gripped his hands tightly "Could this be human blood? Is this place an organ farm?"

A nauseous smell suddenly invaded his nostrils, it smelled of decay and rot.

"Something seems to be rotting in this room, I'd rather not find out what it is."

His body slowly relaxed and his breathing slowed. "I should stay calm and figure out how to escape this place"

He walked towards the door and tried to open it. There wasn't a doorknob so he tried pushing it. "Something large seems to be blocking the door on the other side, a wardrobe perhaps"

He tried pushing it as hard as he could but it just wouldn't budge. He shook his head in denial. "I shouldn't make too much noise. It could alert my captors."

He walked back to the window and examined it closer. Its bars were rusted and old but hey were still sturdy.

Micheal cursed at his own misfortune. "Just my luck, Looks like I'm stuck here for now."

Micheal sat down on his bed and relaxed once again. Just as he finally relaxed, a throbbing pain came from the back of his head. Strange memories suddenly flooded his mind.

Haytham Hall, a citizen of the Edwardian Empire, he lived in a city called granite bay. He excelled in the study of dead languages and he graduated in the local university of the city.

His father died due to an unknown sickness that plagued the empire.

His mother was a devout believer of the Goddess of Death, she went missing two months ago.

He had two siblings, the oldest of them died while hunting in the woods, eaten by a bear. His second brother was still alive and healthy, his eldest brother worked as a librarian to provide for his family.

His family relied on his Second brother's salary and his mother's pension to pay for his tuition.

His family was not wealthy but they still manage to pay for a small room in an apartment.

As a citizen of the Empire, he knew it's a most common dialect, Edwardian. He also knew of a few dead languages. Primarily Balmudic, Heseno and Axun.

Two weeks ago he was kidnapped by a group of terrorists known as the White Justiciars.

The pain finally dissipated leaving an even more confused Micheal.

Micheal cursed at the world silently "Couldn't have I at least transmigrated onto someone not being held captive by a group of terrorists"?
